it's not trolling comparing players near the same age with the same injury... shit the Lakers would have paid him to sit out. Don't catch feelings for his pride

Shaq's not defending DJ he's trashing Doc. "I played for Doc he won't call a play" is enough for you to know there's bad blood and he probably thinks he deserved more touches in Boston.
But he hated D'Antoni and Riley and SVG and Harris and everyone but Phil so I'm not surprised.

Gets run at least once a game. Haven't seen them do it with Speights before, usually just the wings
It's so trippy how non-skilled today's centers are that Shaq of all people is being used as a contrast as to what offensive skill is.
I mean, I get it, he had some low post moves - but when Shaq played in the league the joke on him was all he could do was dunk too.
Considering the dominant centers of his era like Hakeem and Ewing and Robinson could all shoot the J and pick and pop and take guys off the dribble from 15 feet out. They could all hit FT's too. He was also the guy that was so dominant because he was unstoppable within 7 feet.
Watching Kenny Smith going "DJ - probably 60% of his points were dunks...Shaq probably only 40% of your points were dunks" was unintentional comedy of the night.

lol Shaq had maybe the best footwork of any center not nicknamed the Dream. He wasn't unstoppable only because he was huge... that's why he declined because his feet gave out on him.
Also Shaq had mad handles for a center. Besides Kemp and DMC I can't think of another huge man who boarded and went coast 2 coast on the normal

His footwork was good, but everyone's in that era was. And he didn't go coast to coast on the regular, he could do it but let's not act like he was Lamar Odom or Scottie Pippen with the going coast to coast thing.
Besides which, I wasn't talking about either of those things and neither was Kenny. It was about DeAndre not being able to score without dunking - and that was the joke on Shaq forever because he had no offensive game outside of 10 feet. Now guys are so bad that "can't score without dunking" is a completely literal statement and not a joke used to showcase your comparative lack of touch outside of 10 feet when the other great centers of your era were deadly up to 17 feet and could actually shoot the ball.
Like DMC is probably the only center who's both dominant and versatile with his offensive skill set. Guys like Drummond are dominant but not versatile and guys like Monroe and Pachulia are versatile but not really dominant.
Marc and Pau are versatile but not really dominant anymore either.

I mean Clyde was a better 3 point shooter than MJ...

Bigs had better footwork in that era but Shaq's was elite in that era, so that's saying alot
Shaq went coast to coast quite a bit for a big, only you compared him to Pippen so don't know why that's brought up..
I think the knock on DJ and Drummond is that they can hardly create a shot on their own, even from 10 feet because they have little footwork and no skillset to do so.
D12 DJ Drummond would be Shaq's modern day peers and the footwork and post moves aren't even comparable... DJ needs to be spoon fed shots almost and Drummond misses shots until he finds one he likes... and D12 should have been awesome but he has no heart

72 wins?
if it's a goal. why not. idc if they really want to push for it and risk injuries.
i think they kinda owe it to the sport to give it a try..

Still say they'll max out at 70 due to resting people. Last four are SA/Memphis/SA/Memphis
"I'm not really worried about it, honestly," Bryant said. "My shooting will be better. I could've scored 80 tonight. It wouldn't have made a damn difference. We just have bigger problems. I could be out there averaging 35 points a game. We'd be what, 3-11? We've got to figure out how to play systematically in a position that's going to keep us in ballgames."
Lol

because SA always goes all out at the end of the season :)
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostLolwow....
I mean I get what he's saying - but I'm starting to think he really believes he can go out there and score 40 if he wanted to.
There's no way a team gets within striking distance of the record and rests people. If they're at 70 or 69 with 4 games to go, they're going for it.

[Medina] Byron said D'Angelo didn't play in 4th bc it was lopsided. He said there was no value even with him getting reps (twitter.com)
that's not true right? he didn't say that right? that's an onion tweet for sure.

I've watched this league plenty to see guys not getting any better for years and years and years. Especially at the PG position. I'm going to reserve judgment on D'Angelo's progression until about March. This dude looks like a career role player at this point. His good games are just when his shot is falling and that Was the most polished part of his game from day 1. he still jogs around the court, still can't drive past anyone, and still can't run our offense.
The team tries running triangle sets, Princeton sets, horns sets and PnR and the only thing that ever works is Randle/Clarkson/Lou just getting hot in isolation. We can't spread it out and hit 3's because we can't shoot them well or break a defense down with our passing. We can't run PnR because none of our ball handlers can make the required passes and we can't run triangle because we have no post threats.
It's a jumbled shitty mess.
Maybe if Kobe didn't spend 20 months in the last 30 rehabbing he'd have been able to work on his 3 point shot and polish out that aspect of his game. I wouldn't be surprised if he's taken fewer practice jump shots combined in the last 30 months than in any 6 month stretch before that.
Scott has to know that the Lakers aren't going to be in all that many truly competitive games this year, right? There's some value in throwing Russell out to get some run, even if you're down 30 in the second half.
By reilo Go To PostWait, is this from the Jake Delhomme exploding shack Bojangles commercial? If so, ahahahaha
e: now I'm remembering the gif someone made of that video where Jake threw the ball at the shack, but it never exploded (this was made during that horrible, horrible cliff he fell off of). I can't stop imagining Kobe as the replacement Jake in that gif. It fits so well.

defense was solid as fuck on most looks too
