By DY_nasty Go To PostI don't think this ever happens. Like… I've been watching a lot of shitty teams for a long time and I really can't think of a time where that's ever been true. Hell, all of Charlotte's big trades came from selling on guys who were completely washed.
I feel like Phil did it with Ariza when they sent him to the rockets for Artest. Just on a bigger level.
In this case it would be to move them for better roleplayers
Think people are underestimating what coaching is, there's a reason you have defensive and offensive specialists who never actually become head coach.

I wonder how long before we have a discussion about moving the 3pt line back a bit

I'd honestly prefer them to bring back more physicality on the perimeter if anything. I never feel comfortable with changing the dimensions of the court or the lines therein.

I wouldn't mind making the 3pt line the same distance everywhere

Is there enough room on the corners for that? Barely any space as it is.
Yeah I don't understand the 3 point tbh. The distance is inconsistent just so it can exist on the side of the court. And it's so close to the sideline it's just awkward.
By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostIs there enough room on the corners for that? Barely any space as it is.you'd have to widen the court a bit but you'd have to do that if you make any changes
Using two people in the corner for spacing and 3 pointers has its many advantages, but it also has disadvantages. So does playing small. I'd rather coaches either get with it or find a solution against it rather than mess with the dimensions.
On another note. I've waited for multiple weeks on Ball Streams. I've sent multiple support tickets. I'm done with that shit. I'll paypal anyone half the cost of the service or 10 bucks a month just to be able to use it - this is getting ridiculous waiting on these guys.

I think to widen the court would make spacing even more valuable... and even make the midrange game a better shot than now
and make the post more dangerous
and make the post more dangerous

Hell, all of Charlotte's big trades came from selling on guys who were completely washed.I'm positive it's the only reason Calderon is on the team. Traditionally in the system you value big guards that can pass ok, you don't need a passing point guard. And you sure don't need a short PG who can't defend... Knicks were trying to cash in on his value when he was a Maverick and hit big shots in the playoffs. Problem is he absolutely sucked last year, then got hurt. Unlike the other D-League Knicks he had no shot to gain value, and now Knicks got stuck in a predicament... my big rant on Fisher playing him is if he's playing well, I can see keeping him on the floor as long as you also put a lineup out to mask his terrible D. Thing is if his shot isn't there for the love of God, fucking play Galloway or Grant more minutes. It kills me in defensive stop situations to see Calderon/Galloway lineups when Grant or even Cleanthony Early can be substituted at guard.

I honestly don't get the defensive 3 second rule, if the offense is on the move then there still isn't a viable strat to leaving a guy there just for a rebound, especially not against a team with great shooting efficiency.
By MeyersLeonardMoustache Go To PostI honestly don't get the defensive 3 second rule, if the offense is on the move then there still isn't a viable strat to leaving a guy there just for a rebound, especially not against a team with great shooting efficiency. It's to prevent someone like Rudy Gobert from just standing in the paint and discouraging teams from driving to the rim at any time. It would cut down on dunks to about zero unless they were fast break dunks.

Uh, the entire reason that you can do what you can do in the league now defensively is because the rule changes allow for zone defense. They allow to double off the ball or the shade towards a post player before he catches it. As Lowe said, if you're playing small ball you can front a post player, then put another defender behind him in case of a successful pass over the top. That was illegal in the 90's. If Jordan or Hakeem went to post up on one side of the floor, there couldn't be any other defenders shading in their direction or attempting to double team before the pass was caught. It's part of the reason that post players were so effective then. (Defenses still did it, and occasionally got whistled for illegal defense. Like TD does by camping out in the paint all day).
Now you can completely leave Tony Allen alone and double Marc Gasol any time he gets within 15 feet of the basket whether or not he's got the ball.
This used to be called "illegal defense". Now they allow it, but in order to prevent Gobert or Whiteside from standing directly under the rim and never moving - they created the 3 second rule.
Steph Curry exists because the lack of physicality coupled with the inability of post players to get clean looks unless they're surrounded by 4 dead eye three point shooters has made him Goku.

Because nobody prior to 2000 ever dunked the ball on s play that wasn't a fast break.
Edit: though i do realize zone was illegal. I just don't see the rule as something that would ruin the game.

People in college dunk the ball and have zone and no 3 seconds though. It would slow the game down, for sure.
