Popping in to say holy fuck at skimming through the NPD thread the past day or so. Apparently MS should just cancel Halo permanently or something, jesus. Lets round up w/digital sales and put it at 1m+ in the US at least for the first *week*... coming off the negatively received Halo 4 and train wreck that was MCC. Not bad if you ask me. The franchise name was tarnished, you can't ignore that. 343 has to build it back up again, and Halo 5 is a good start. I don't think it was reasonable to expect it to light the sales charts on fire given what has happened to the franchise recently.

And as has already been mentioned here, the eagerness of many to jump on the perceived grave of the game is embarrassing to say the least.

As far as population numbers, it's really interesting to see. During the *daytime* (US here) it doesn't look good, usually in the 5/6 slot behind Destiny, FIFA, and GTA. But in the evening US time it returns to the 3 hole behind Black Ops and Fallout. Interested to see how Battlefront shakes things up and if the free DLC and monthly "content updates" (which I love btw) will give the game longer legs. (read: it will)

I don't usually get into the the NPD bullshit but i love it when it blows up in their faces like it did. Since MS mentioned Halo 5 doing well last week all you heard over and over from them was , "lol wait for NPDs" " can't wait for NPD" "we'll see when NPD! "Hey , guy what game are you looking forward to playing this month? "Games? who gives a shit about that? I am waiting on da EN PEE DEEZ!!" These are "gamers"!


On a better note i think my favorite map so far is Plaza. Not only does it play really well i love the overall look of it. It's so cyberpunk, (all it would need to be perfect is rain!) kind of makes me want to see 343I do another Sci Fi game not connected to the Halo verse. Maybe an action rpg or something.

Funny how my thoughts on Warzone changed so fast. I mean I partly play it only to unlock Customization options, but I find it fun as well. Thought it was a waste of time at first, but now I like it a lot.

Oh shit, didn't realize that was you from here! Freaking team wrecked us. We all got a little pissy that it seemed like you guys could've ended the game MINUTES faster by pushing the core, but decided to prolong it from kills alone outside the base.

Yeah that was quite shit. For those not in it, we had Spire on Array (Warzone Assault) on lock to defend and win, but then suddenly with like 30 seconds left they take the Armory--which is an obvious exploit because it SHOULD be locked.

Does 343 know of this issue with Assault?

Had a Warzone game yesterday were the red team was able to do a trick jump to get into our base nest on Apex 7. Fucking annoying because they just camped there with two dudes to either side of the door. They should not be able to get up there imo

I did spartan charge one of my teammates through the door as bait though. Only got one kill out of it. I bet he is pissed.

That trick jump showed up on Reddit, not surprised people took advantage of it. Sucks when you're on the receiving end.

Unfortunately yes, I told them to end it as fast as we could but they insisted you wanted to keep going because you kept running in and dying.

In the future I'll try more devious methods of ending since the guys I play with are all Arena/HCS tryhards and to them stat whoring/commendation boosting is all that warzone is good for. (Which for me commendations are cool, holding on people I know not so much).

So, played Warzone with a couple of friends yesterday...all 3 matches, got Raid on Apex 7. I am sick of that map, sick of Warzone, sick of running for 15-20 seconds to get to the action, sick of the arguments over defending bases vs killing bosses. It's's not chaotic fun to me anymore, it's anxiety over choosing a cool gun from my alotted reqs, only to lose it 30 seconds later because I was out gunned.

Can we get a firefight/PvE only version of Warzone, please?

Yeah, its exclusion is really wierd since they already have AI in multiplayer up and running, my guess is they didnt have time.

Is the "new xbox one experience" absolute garbage for anyone else?

Takes me like 5 minutes to sign in. I'm getting ridiculous lag in menus. Just tried to load up Netflix, guess I tried to sign in before it fully loaded and then I couldn't even sign in. Every time I try to look at achievements it's impossible, sometimes it just won't load some, others everytime I scroll down it will just scroll back to the top.

I love the way it looks, it's just not performing well for me. Also I know this isn't Halo related but the gaming thread is kind of dead and even then, I think all of them are just PS4 owners.

Nope fluid as hell and works great. I was skeptical of it but It's done nothing but run like a dream for me.

Haven't had an issue with it as of yet.

I did another hard restart and it works fine now.

Who knows. It hasn't been in since Halo 4 and they omitted it from the ODST port, even though it runs on the same engine as campaign.

It's kind of amazing how every game but Reach is in the MCC now and there's still zero Firefight anywhere in it.

71 Spartans have submitted clips, including myself.

Averages at about 4 clips per Spartan, at 30 seconds per clip.

Works out around 2 hours 15 minutes worth of footage to edit, not that I'll use all of it.

Wish I could put a more exciting intro together (I have a cool idea) - anyone here any good with Aftereffects or anything like that?

Just make it synchronize with the music in the awesome bits.

Beat campaign on Heroic today... I don't even know what to say. There are parts I liked, and parts I didn't, but at the end of the day I agree with what some reviewers said about the cutscenes feeling stilted. For some of them, it just seemed like they ended abruptly, missing the last 5 seconds they should have had. One good example is when Halsey tells Locke to bring Chief back. She says "Locke" and then he turns around and it shows him looking at her, and then she tells him to bring Chief back to her, and then it just ENDS. Why didn't it hold on Halsey for another second or two, then show Locke's face for another few seconds, then show him turning around and leaving to embark on the mission?I think the cutscene designers either ran out of time/resources, or they thought way too hard about how to make these cutscenes and ended up with a worse result than if some goober like me were in charge of the final edits.

friend who has an x1 and h5 came over yesterday and i got to play through most of the game, skipped over the missions that were least interesting, played mostly on heroic, and also a match of warzone. thoughts:
-still no large scale enviroments that compare to ce or the ark/covenent from h3. better then 4 but they really needed a large open tank level like the ark. levels still feel cramped and small/linear a lot especially with vehicles.
-their are however some really good medium sized areas.
-the intricacy of some of the areas was great, if i had the game i could see myself playing through SOME of the levels a lot without getting bored.
-revive system feels cheep, and you gotta watch your teammates. not a fan of the squad system.
-soldiers are cool, still prefer the flood, but promethians are pretty good enemies in this game. knights are kinda boring now tho.
-kracken was lame. just bring back the scarab fights as they were in h3.
-mantis is mindless now thx to the lock on.
-levels looked great, tho they still havent learned less is more with skyboxes. the backround action is impressive tho. lot of ships and dogfights.
-warzone was...meh. nothing cool happened that couldnt happen in btb. rec system really brings down the game.
-story was bad lol
-no split screen=no fun : (
overall glad i got to play it i had fun! but definitely not worth getting an x1 for.

Thank you for your attention. Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was playing Halo 5 with a party that I believe was with youse guys. I have had trouble with getting drop-kicked from the Halo 5 servers. I mentioned that I was on wifi with the Cox cable modem/router combo unit, and am paying for up to 100 mbps service.

Someone told me that I need to open my ports. At the time, it was too much for me, as I suffer from arthritis and a torn meniscus in one knee, and I was "enjoying" a flare up. The modem/router is upstairs, and the Xbone and TV are downstairs.

Can anyone point me in the direction of good instructions on how to do port forwarding, or a better modem and router that will work on Cox Cable? I am ready to takle this issue, even if it means running an ugly ethernet cqble down the stairwell.

Well for games you definitely want to be using Ethernet. Look up the xbl ports to find the exact ones. Generally to log into your router the IP is 192.168.1.1 type that as if you were typing in a web page. You will probably need login credentials. If that doesn't work find the make and model of your equip and google the login up. My port forwarding is located under the connectivity tab, yours will probably be different so look through the options to find it.
You may have to,contact Cox if its a combo unit.

opening ports is a pain in the ass. it depends on what router you have. you will need to get on a computer that is directly connected to the router I believe in order to open ports. I would recommend googling your router model and looking up xbox one port numbers. it might just be easier to run that cable though
