My god FFA is a tragedy in this game. I have been working towards getting placed and been getting matched with lobbies full of mostly high Onyx and my god it makes me realize how just fucking unfun it is playing FFA this way. And I have really enjoyed FFA in past games.
The strength of the autos combined with how liberally they are placed on the map and how quickly they spawn makes sure every single person has one. This combined with radar means that the amount of people just straight up camping with the things makes a full game torture. Getting hit by the Auto + Slide/Rush combo from some dude who was camping behind a wall watching their radar is literally the most frustrating thing I have experienced in this game. Lobbies full of high Onyx just camping or rushing with the autos is just ugh.
Also I kind of hate the maps for FFA, none of em feel right and even with 6 players I still see some funky spawns, for and against me. I got placed Onyx 1700 (which I have no idea how as I placed most games but struggled to stay even most times and also did not win a single one of my placement matches) but I honestly don't plan on playing much more of the mode.

Remember, if you get spartan charged by a guy with an AR it's game over, even if you melee him. Because 343 decided the spartan charge should have less recovery frames than a standard freaking melee.

I was surprised at the price, but pre-purchased on Steam anyway. Game is different enough, so I wanted to support the devs.
