So, two things I was thinking about:
How would you guys feel about a gameplay mechanic being added to "paint" enemies in death? Let me clarify: it could work in Arena or Warzone, though for deathcam reasons Arena would make more sense. Once you're killed, your body ragdolls and "settles" as normal. For painting to work, there are two prerequisites: you have to keep your camera on your corpse, meaning you're sacrificing viewing what's happening to your teammates, and your copse also has to be present, meaning getting flung off the map / disintegrated / etc. prevents it from happening.
During that brief 5 to 6-second window as you're awaiting a respawn, you can hold down your Scope button (so generally either right-click or LT) and you'll begin a charge that takes roughly as long as a Spartan Laser, being 3-4 seconds - giving you enough time to comfortably evaluate your corpse's orientation in post and whether or not painting is worth it. If any enemies are in range of your corpse (let's say the painting range relative to your corpse is about the same size as a rocket's splash radius) for the entire duration of your charge-up, they'll be outlined or "spotted" for all of your teammates, but not you. So, in other words, it's basically Martyrdom Promethean Vision, though with a number of checks and balances in place. Enemies that are painted are alerted that they've been spotted (possibly with a UI element around your corpse), and they'll remain spotted indefinitely unless they vacate out of range of the corpse (or until you die again).
While it may not necessarily clarify any information that team chat wouldn't, I think it'd be an interesting way to help prevent camping and aid in conveying info to teammates that aren't communicating, with the possibility of Spartan banter being added for it. e.g.
"Lost a teammate!"
*vwoooooooooop*
*DWEEE*
"Downed teammate painted a target!"
"Lost one to a Binary Rifle!"
*vwoooooooooop*
*DWEEE*
"Enemies spotted on their X!"
etc.
It'd also probably be more effective in objective gametypes than deathmatch-based ones, especially something like Strongholds where enemies have a habit of staying out of sight but still in the capture point.
Which brings me to my second point: how would you guys feel about player-wielded "kinetic bolt" / Promethean weapons disintegrating the equipment their victims had, in addition to vaporizing the bodies? I don't think I'd want stray Promethean AI wiping it out because it'd suck to lose Warzone weapons to mobs, but I think in Arena especially it'd give Promethean weapons a little extra oomph and illustrate them as being especially dangerous in situations where you also carried a power weapon - not to mention if you consider possibilities like derezzing an enemy carrying your flag causing it to return instantly or something. It'd also have a modicum more importance in a metagame where "painting" existed, because it'd mean the enemy would be shutting you out of being able to spot them.

By Jay Whatever Go To PostThat sounds incredibly un-Halo.
I kind of likened it to similar "aggressive" UI systems in the past like VISR or smart-link.
Well, that and the nature of Arena being a simulation.
Thats not a bad concept at all, but like he said its un-halo, this seems more battlefield or those hero shooters
Sorry, I'm gonna play the shit out of the Division alpha before it shuts down in 5 hrs. Halo tomorrow tho

I read your proposal, and the two concepts sound interesting. It would bring in new game mechanics without disturbing current game play. It also actually innovates, unlike "new" gametypes like Strongholds and Breakout. (Sorry devs, calling it like it is, as a long time Halo player)
By Impala26 Go To PostYo… anyone wanna play some Halo? You gonna be around at 9PM PST?
(Disclaimer: I'm a bit drunk)
By a zoojoo Go To PostArena Breakout is good. For sure deserves a slot in regular TA.
I agree. I would pay Halo 5 a lot more. It taps into my unhealthy CSGO obsession while keeping what I love about Halo. Would be cool if it was a 10 round game and you played 5 rounds on each half and then rotate like CSGO. First to 6 wins.
I have noticed a lot more flag runs/tactics in this mode.

Yeah from watching streams flag pulls almost every round (obviously not all leading to caps but close to one base or the other 50% of the time.

What?
That thing was ugly as hell in Halo CEA. I call him fat chief for his thighs alone.
Also that isn't the Mk.V it's the Mk.IV.
By TheHunter Go To PostWhat? That moment when the MK IV looks more like the MK V than the MK V looks like the MK V

No, Mk V was shown for January in the livestream last night.

yeah, thats not even close to the profile it has had since its inception, idk where the hell that idea came from
By Silky Go To PostMark V sucks ass, give Hayabusa
Licensing conflicts say: Ain't gonna happen.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at in that comparison. Halo 5 version looks the best of the remakes by far. CEA is chubbycheeks chief and Halo 4 looks like a knockoff action figure. CE looks better than all of them because it's muddy and the lack of detail suits the blocky design better.

your opinion is bad, and you should feel bad.

I'm sure you care about it a lot more than I do. I am glad that Chief looks so much better in the campaign than he used to. I couldn't care less about undersuit colors, space panties, and all the other insane minutiae people choose to make their battleground with the halo games.
By nillapuddin Go To Postyour opinion is bad, and you should feel bad. That's how you should feel about putting CEA Mk5 above CEs.
By TheHunter Go To PostThat's how you should feel about putting CEA Mk5 above CEs.Fair point, it hurt me to type it, but I think that stands true, I feel like its the most faithful
The rest of the model is straight ass.
Have you seen the lower body? Like a fat guy decided to join the Spartan program.

oh, if this is a lower body (i.e. not helmet) issue, then by all means, opinion away
I was strickly speaking about the helmet
So after reviewing a melee kill of a warthog driver from the passenger seat I've come to the conclusion that...
I freaking LOVE the ragdoll physics of this game.

Thanks for making me spill my juice =V
Oh man, going from a monitor at uni to a TV at home has absolutely destroyed the aiming for me. The input lag, ughhghg
...why didn't anyone tell me that when you have auto-stabilize disabled you only have to press A to hover, rather than hold it?
I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate micless/party chat teammates. I was so close to being champion rank in team slayer :( :( :(
Someone needs to take a peek at whatever servers they use for warzone, only gametype that lags up and throws me out of my party and drops my game.
