somehow had the background music, intro and ingame chat synced perfectly
accomplished a Gungoose ninja
literally went "oh shit" seeing that many reds swarm over my corpse in death cam
ruined a warthog driver's day
ruined a warthog driver and gunner's days
standbyers deny us a Stronghold victory
subsequently took it out on someone with a twitch groundpound

A few thoughts,
*Does 4 look better than MCC?
*I enjoyed the Reach days more because I coauthored sooooo many maps back then (and was in college so had a shit ton of free time)
*I have fully fleshed out Relic (center structure) remakes in Reach, 4 and MCC, but terrain always kept them from happening.
*The maps I always do arent neccesarily my favorites, just ones that I find fun to forge
*Halo 4 had the best aesthetics, in MCC I had some beautiful looking maps but the performance couldnt hold up, so instead I went for pure minimalism and reduced the piece count substantially (mostly just as a test for myself since nobody gave a shit)

The Foundation I originally, had glass windows, where each of the 4 main walls had set pieces built in them, interesting to look at rocks, tree patterns, "waterfall" and a human encampment. Not alot of pieces, just a little bit of visual flair and nothing that took away sight-lines or anything. But forge just cannot handle glass, one of my top 3 biggest hopes is improved glass performance.
and the picture in that screenshot, like I said is basically just a self test, its severely distilled down to only the most basic blocks. at the end of the day though, Foundation is a boring map anyways.
I wish I got to play of my MCC turf as much as AstroTurf, the rocks are freakin beautiful. I made a commitment to only using BB's and Rocks to keep the theme barren, almost CE like.
Very excited for next week, from what the guys said Ive got a huge learning curve ahead of myself but Im excited.

Now that finals are over I would like to share to you all a lovely Christmas story. Yes, it seems like yesterday that I was presented with a timeless and classic story about a boy and the wonderful word known as Willytop.
One day, a boy was rushing to school, late. On his way there, some stranger stops him and asks him if he is late.
"Yes," the boy answers.
"Well, you can't just barge in there! You have to give them an excuse. Just tell them "Willytop". It'll solve all of your problems."
The boy hurries into class. When the teacher asks the boy why he was late, he replies with Willytop.
"I have never heard such terrible language! You march down the prinicipal's office right now!"
The boy goes down to the principal's office.
"Why are you here?" he asks. The boy replies with Willytop. The principal becomes shocked, expelling the boy from the school. "And don't you ever come back," he yells.
When the boy comes back home, his mother asks him why he is home so early.
"Willytop," says the boy. The mother becomes sad and starts crying, telling him to go to his room until his father comes home. When the father comes home, he asks the mother why she is crying.
"You go up to your son and talk some sense into him!" she says to him. So the father goes up to the boy and asks him what's wrong.
"Willytop," says the boy. The father becomes mad with him.
"Never in my life have I thought I would have to say this, but you get the hell out of here, and you never come back!"
Exiled from his home, the boy wanders around town, only to be stopped by a police officer.
"Hey, kid, why are you wondering around at night?" he asks.
"Willytop," says the boy.
"You get the hell out of my city, and if you come back, I'll have you thrown in prison!"
Now the boy was driven out of town. Hungry and tired, he finds another town, and goes inside a diner. In the diner, there was a bartender cleaning up.
"Hey, kid," the man says, "we ain't open till 10."
"Willytop," says the boy.
"Woah, hold on son. You don't want to say that around here. People don't take to kindly on that word."
The boy goes into tears. "But I was told that saying it would solve all of my problems! What does it mean, anyways?"
The man tells him, "I'll tell you later, but not right now. Wait until the diner closes tonight, and then I'll tell you." The boy waits until 8:00 P.M, and the man takes the boy to the alley across the street.
As they begin crossing the street, though, they get hit by a truck and die.
The End.
H2A forge doesn't look good at all compared to Halo 4 to be honest.
Though performance was a bitch in H4 so H2A might surpass it in that regard.

while performance was better, I wouldnt say it was markedly better. Like I said, a foundation style map, struggles with added visual fluff at what are average distance sightlines at best.
Pieces were improved and added, mechanics tightened, but I wouldnt say it was the leap I thought it would be. Terrain pieces were a nice addition and they are modeled beautifully, and some other things Im surely forgetting (not concerned with scripting) but it was an overall side grade in retrospect.

Haven't been keeping up with Forge news, but are there different structure wall textures? Most of the current forge maps have similar flat shiny surfaces, just wondering if there are any designs similar to Reach's forge building structures.
Nillapuddin, you inspired me to go back and look at what I did in Halo Reach. I reviewed my photobucket pictures from Halo Reach Forge, wish now I had taken more. I had made some Grifball maps, challenging myself to make them on areas and maps where no one else usually would try to Forge. Here are some of my images, enjoy!

I think we need a Narrows forge remake in 5. The man cannons would be interesting with the ground pound mechanic. I think the rest of the level would flow ok too, but might need to be expanded a bit in size to make up for sprint.

edit: Holy crap you can do an "Earthquake" filter so the screen is constantly shaking
So only 64 objects can be in a weld/grouping it looks like. Should still be enough, but I don't think we will be able to move our entire map at once. WE will still need to do it in pieces.
Definitely impressed by how in depth the new Forge is, based solely on that video and Nok's feedback. Can't wait to see what the community comes up with.

This weekend, we’re introducing a new twist on the Breakout game type that we’ve been playtesting and toying around with here at the studio, currently referred to as Arena Breakout. The mode takes Breakout rules, and then merges them with Arena settings on Arena maps, which will feature custom weapon placement for this game type. The result is a fast-paced game of Elimination featuring a Neutral Flag, complete with Breakout player count display and audio, on the maps you’ve come to master since launch.
We’d love to get your feedback on the game type, as well as specific preferred settings, power weapon placement, and favorite maps, so we’re throwing it into matchmaking this weekend, and adding in some increased XP. The playlist will go live this afternoon, and be available through the weekend.

You know I wanted Breakout tested on the disc maps since it was announced. Nice to see it is full shields and damage, too. I think this mode can shine on the asymmetrical maps like Eden, Rig, and Plaza.
Hey everyone! We've been playtesting this a bunch this week, and we think it's pretty fun - full shields, normal damage, and custom weapon layouts, with Breakout UI and audio. The final moments get pretty intense and we hope you enjoy it, too.
On that topic, we know many (all) of you are looking forward to new modes, and these are coming, but the work here takes a bit more time. But you should rest assured knowing that work is underway, and that we've been keeping a constant eye on your feedback on which modes are your favorite, etc.
Also related, it is stated in this blog, but also wanted to iterate that the weekend playlist poll will be taking a few weeks off through the holiday so that we can A) rotate in a long-term social playlist and B) continue to build new stuff for you to play with. (We'd also like to rotate additional new stuff into said social playlist).
See you on the stream today at 3PM PT! Excited to show off some new stuff. SPNKrs, Noctus, Overgrowth, and new controls stuff, and lots of stuff I'm forgetting.

This is the one I used; I made a Copy to my Drive and then edited it. Once you make your own copy, it falls on you to maintain it with new REQs, but you can check his source one for details and copy new lines from there.
Updating it isn't hard, just right click to Insert X new rows on the appropriate tabs when new REQs come out, and the formulas should all accommodate it.
I should know this, but is there anything in Bronze or Silver packs that you can't get from Gold? I usually just save up 10k and open a Gold one.

Gold just has a chance for higher rarity levels. Same content as a Silver, as far as permanents go.
