So apparently Jimmy Rollin's dad works out at my gym. One of my gym friends just found out after chatting with the guy over the past year since they work out at around the same times. At 59 the guy is pretty damn swole. He was deadlifting 4 plates at 59 years old while I was squatting.
A legit CFer and lead off guy. No more scrubs like James Jones, Abe Almonte or Endy Chavez making out after out. When Condor comes back from the DL the outfield actually gets pretty nice with Ackley/Denorfia, Jackson, Condor.

Let's not dog out Jones! :x but yeah indeed a great trade all things considered
i just want u guys to know that i have been a royals fan for the last 14 or so years. i'm super proud of them and it's awesome that we have a chance to WIN THE DIVISION! not the wildcard, the division.
now if only the chiefs could do something besides lose a 40 point lead in the first playoff game...

Guess you guys don't like baseball.I'm a stealth baseball fan. I also don't feel the need to watch every single game and comment on them since there's so damn many.
Yankees got that second wild card in the bag.

Mariners sign GM Zduriencik to extension
By Greg Johns / MLB.com | 8/26/2014 6:23 P.M. ET
SEATTLE – Jack Zduriencik, whose Mariners are contending for their first postseason berth since 2001, has received a multiyear contract extension as executive vice president and general manager, the club announced on Tuesday.
Zduriencik is in his sixth season as GM, and the Mariners Tuesday's game against the Rangers with a record of 71-59, having already equaled last year's win total with 32 games remaining.
"Since Jack took over after the 2008 season, we have been building toward our ultimate goal, which is to win the World Series," said Mariners president Kevin Mather. "We believe, with the efforts of Jack and his staff, we are now well positioned as an organization to be a contender for many years to come."
Zduriencik has been in Major League Baseball for 35 years, previously working with the Mets, Dodgers, Pirates and Brewers before joining Seattle prior to the 2009 campaign.
Zduriencik is the eighth GM in Mariners history and is credited with helping rebuild the club's farm system and developing a young core that is now maturing at the Major League level.

R Rivera flied out to center, Y Solarte to third, Y Solarte scored, R Liriano to second on throwing error by center fielder Y Puig. R Liriano to third on throwing error by catcher A Ellis. R Liriano scored on throwing error by shortstop H Ramirez.
I have zero interest in baseball, but my wife is a Royals fan, so I might have some indeterminate amount of interest. We live in Michigan, maybe 30 minutes from Tiger Stadium. So she's living in hostile territory right now.
She's a sports fan, and I love her for it, but she dares to dial away from college football to a baseball game. I question her sanity, but then we witness the Detroit error for an unearned run. 1-2 score. BUT WAIT! The KC base runner forgets to tag the base! Out. 1-1 score.
Yep, that sounds about right for a team with the league's longest running pennant race drought.

Great ending to Jeter's last home game. I'm gonna miss him. Shame we didn't have a playoff caliber team around him for his last season.
More like Kobe (5 rings in 7 championship appearances, kinda front-loaded the majority of them). He was very good but also fortunate with talented team and manager that surrounded him. Played in a big market for a marquee successful franchise and had to deal with someone he clearly didn't get along with much. Defense really dropped off as he got older. Also dealt with some foot injuries in later years.
Biggest difference was off the field, where he was a bit more likable. He was also more like MJ in that he never really took a hard stance on an issue and could seem bland or corporate as a result. Also the dude was smart and did what most athletes should: not get married or committed during his career so there was no pesky scandals or rumors that could seriously hurt his reputation. Much like Kobe he is liked by the fans of his team and disliked (or grudgingly respected maybe) by opposing fan bases.

I guess I'm kind of a Dodgers fan now since our local AAA team just became their affiliate.
Also, fuck the Cardinals. Their fans are everywhere here and they're obnoxious as hell.

King Kersh throwing fire, offense rattling wainwright. Looking good so far.
Clayton is 66-0 when the offense gets 4 or more runs.
