Tanaka is completely the real deal and everything about him is awesome.
He is having a great first year.. I will wait until year two to really praise him tho
You can never evaluate Japanese pitchers until after ML hitters adjust to them, they have to make an adjustment. Darvish was unhittable last year, not as much this year.

Darvish is only striking out like 3% less of batters while walking fewer than last year. He's midway through his third season and I think we can safely say he's one of the top 10 best pitchers in baseball.

Darvish has like a 2.39 era with over 100 Ks
What you are is true but Darvish is a horrible example
Kershaw was amazing last night.
Can you believe my friends talked themselves out of going to that game? LMAO

Fuck, I'd be kicking myself.
When I get steady employment I'm definitely gonna attend more games. Looks like they're starting to put it together. Would really like to shore up our bullpen, LA should be active around the deadline like usual.

That's worse than the fact that most of LA couldn't see the game because of the TV network bullshit.

There's a dude that sells second level section 147 for like $25 bucks on stubhub. I have gone to five games this year because of him.
This is turning into a magically kinda season for the M's
4.5 games out of first with the only hard team remaining before the All-Star break being Oakland. Best record in baseball since April 23rd.
And this is despite having the worst combination at designated hitter in the entire AL.

We somehow scoring in bunches too... Cano has been worth the pricetag thus far!
Just reading up on Baseball
WTF at:
- Two different leagues with different rules?!
- 150+ games?! - and they don't even play that many of them against the other "league".
- Sometimes multiple games on the same day?!
- Nobdy gives a shit about the draft?!
- All-Star Game decides finals home court advantage?!
shit is weird.

The rules are the same these days except for one fairly major one.
162 games. They actually only really started doing "interleague" in the past few years, first as a gimmick and then because they realigned and the leagues became unbalanced.
Yes. The MLB draft is an even bigger crapshoot than the other big sports, since NCAA baseball doesn't act as a defacto minor league like NCAA Hoops or Football, and thus players have to go to an actual minor league and take 2-4+ years to reach the bigs.
Yes. This was another stupid marketing gimmick enacted by Bud Selig because of waning interest in the All Star game. Most fans hate this whole idea.
thanks for the insight. What kind of games do fans watch? certainly not every game right?Depends on how big a fan, but sure. At one point I would watch pretty much every Nats game.
SF 8
LA 0
top of the 4th.
yup, look at all that relevancy going on.
Talk come playoff time , when your owner is still leveraging a relocation and the only ball team you have is off season Lakers.
It's not the playoffs yet, but sup?

For me it depends on what I'm doing or what else is going on, but with it being the middle of the summer if I'm home and there is a Mariners game on I'll at least have it on as background noise. I also listen to a lot of the games in my car while driving home thanks to Satellite radio. Sometimes I'll watch the games when the Mariners are on the East Coast while at work if I'm not too busy.
I used to also watch the Dodgers games since they were on TV locally but because of the bullshit new TV deal I can't watch them anymore. I rarely watch other teams than the Mariners or Dodgers.
As of May 31, The Seattle Mariners were 27-28. On June 1, the Mets won to pull to 27-29, a half game behind the Mariners, before the Mariners won to go to 28-28, a game ahead of the Mets.
Since then, they've gone 20-12, the Mets have gone 12-20.
I wish I drunk so I could drink.

The Mariners have also been incredibly lucky: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-giants-clustered-their-luck/
Not that I'm complaining, but I certainly hope they find some more roster improvements. The team needs a legit LFer and DH.

Cluster luck is not the greatest measurement in the world..

So the Anglols having the 2nd best record in baseball plus having bad luck means their success is not a fluke?
If that turns out to be TJS for Tanaka, turn out the lights on the 2014 Yankees. They don't have a single decent starter in the rotation outside of him right now.

Double digit hits the last 2 games, 3 runs scored.
Matt Kemp wants to be traded.. I have always been a Kemp fan his contact is stupid but maybe the Dodgers will eat some of it.. M's fans what do you think? Should we make a play for him? I know he isn't right handed but..

Ehhhh. I watched him a lot and used to be a fan, but now? Not unless the Dodgers are covering most of that deal and we don't send anything major over.
In other news I'm going to tomorrows Angels Mariners game. First game Ive been to in awhile, Im excited!

if they covered 50% he would be a 10 mil a year player..

Well the cost of a win last year was about $6mm. So to be worth $10million per he'd have to be worth a bit less than 2.0 WAR per season. He's currently sitting at -.4 WAR for this season, so he'd have to play like almost a 2.5 WAR player for the rest of this season to be worth it, and then play at slightly worst than that for the next 5 years. So he'd play like Nelson Cruz or Brett Gardner or Justin Upton the rest of this season.
I mean that's not super stud level, but still the question of "is it worth it" rests on if you think he can reach and maintain that level for several more years.
Kemp's interesting to think about but at the end of the day I don't think it would make much sense. Dodgers would want a good prospect in return and would have to eat a TON of salary, and Kemp's been a very poor fielder.
I'm more interested in getting someone like Zobrist. Also interested in Steven Souza as a more long term players, kid is absolutely tearing shit up in AAA but can't make the bigs because of a busy Nats outfield, maybe could be had for someone like Franklin (they need a 6 iirc)

Can't find a Mets stream. Mariners guys aren't bad but can't pronounce Latino names for their lives.
