By PSYCH! Go To PostI think the NBA is blacklisting them with every billing system around the worldI hate this kind of shit.
ballstreams was ahead of it's time it seems.
What does the NBA think it's accomplishing with a move like this? I'm not gonna run out and subscribe to cable, and I'm not gonna buy league pass when every local game is blacked out.
Let me subscribe digitally and I'll gladly pay a couple hundred bucks a year. But I'm not paying for a cable sub or LP.

No thats doable, but more importantly is the efficiency. Last years 51.7 TS% is what needs to improve.
18ppg on 55% would be a really nice improvement.

He'll have better players around him, specifically much better point guard play, he still has an awesome free throw rate and his stroke looked better this pre-season. Which is to say he was actually taking and making 3s.

There are some in the movement who want to project the future, quite literally, on the screens in front of our eyes. Somewhere in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, an astrophysicist and his son are working, with the backing of an outspoken billionaire, to bring us just such a glimpse. Armed only with a camera, a laptop and their custom code, they’re working on a system that calls a 3-pointer a swish or a brick, a volleyball serve in or out, a soccer shot over the bar or in the goal, all before the ball completes its flight. If the system works — and that’s a big “if” — it would be equivalent to a minor superpower: flash precognition. The sports fan would become, if only for a second or two, a superhero.
And the system is almost done.
The footage is from a Dallas Mavericks game against the San Antonio Spurs in March. What you see was calculated in real time, but for demonstration purposes the shot itself is slowed down. A computer tracked the ball’s position as well as its projected position, and the three red bars underneath the action indicate the system’s confidence that the ball would miss left, go in, or miss right, respectively. In this clip, it was a Monta Ellis jumper that went in, just as the tech predicted.http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/can-an-astrophysicist-change-the-way-we-watch-sports/

This is all going to lead to cyborg basketball and 15 foot rims isn't it!
Dammit, I'm basically Archer on this topic.
I've actually been frowning at nearly every analytical thing I've seen over the last year. The movement was in a really good place a year or two ago, but expansion of its use has led to some really dumb stuff of late

The 538 thing is interesting but of limited usefulness IMO.
The rise of more useful stats like TS% has been a great thing though.

I think it could be useful for in-practice sessions, e.g. having real time data for someone like Ray Allen or Stephen Curry to improve their release? Forget it.
By diehard Go To Posthttp://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-53-best-franchise-players-in-the-nba/I scrolled through that and was completely dumbfounded.

And that's about the moment no one took them seriously anymore. Joel Embiid as a franchise player ya'll.
I'm all for advanced stats that are simply objective data. TS% and eFG% that just combine different kinds of shooting. +\- that just tracks differences. Even ORTG and DRTG scaled off of points per 100 possessions.
It's when people decide to make their own shit, take objective information and turn it into a smorgasbord of subjective valuations and algorithms where I check out.
You attempting to tell me that X player contributed 3.2 wins? GTFO with that nonsense.
By Moris Go To PostJust a heads up, probably won't be able to get the OT up until Warriors/Pelicans cause of life things.
Can I put it together for now as a template and then you edit it?

Harrison barne baot to feast this year.
No I thought same thing I thought the splintered bones calcified in his leg because they were treated as intruding foreign material now and his body calcified it to protect him.
I think that's how it works from what I learn from watching Iryu Team Medical Dragon.

crap look like Afflalo is out maybe 2 weeks. I assume lineup will be
Lopez
Carmelo
Early
Grant
Calderon
I could see them tempted to start Porzingis at PF. Really wouldn't do that.

Ouch. I see 6 out of their first 20 games being against under .500 teams.

If the Knicks aren't competitive against teams like the bucks, the hornets, the raptors, the Pelicans, the heat, they're fucked anyway.
It was fun engaging with Toronto fans last summer at the phonebooth--might have to do it again with a no doubt strong contingent of knicks fans saturday
Bucks, Pelicans, and probably Heat (I'd say definitely if healthy) are better than them, imo. Especially if the Knicks starting lineup is gonna be what you said it is. The defense will be so bad. Raptors were bad last season and still won 48 games.
Toronto, Miami and New Orleans are definitely a lot better than New York...
I don't know, I know Knicks fans here are really confident, I just think if they win 30 games, that's a nice season for them.

I'm not saying they're better, I'm saying they've got to be competitive and win games. If they can't beat the middle of the pack 7-9 ranked teams and some 5's and 4's once in a while - they're not getting 30+ wins.

Bucks and Hornets are still better than NY
