no one talks about when Dirk assassinated a stationary bike.
There's flaws and there's generally being a terrible person who deserves jail or being shunned but athletes are good at sports so all is forgiven.

despicable human being tbh
By db Go To PostY'all cannot see what's plain as day all you want. The dude is toxic to rebuilding and team unity. Sorry.
Still think that's nonsense, but even if true, who cares. If he quit tomorrow we still wouldn't be shit. He's not holding anything back, people will decide to come here if our young core turns out to be legit and they're looking meh right now.
There will come a time where Kobe's legit stopping the team from being great, at which point. Peace dude. But I'm not losing sleep over him "holding back"
Lin and Boozer and Swaggy P.
Kobe's biggest issue as far this season is health. If he's in and out all the damn time he disprupts everything and makes shit worse. But if he can play a solid 60-65 games, I don't see how he destroys the team.
but really... the most talented players come from different worlds... many don't have real common sense because their lives have been really sheltered
By blackace Go To Postthey are flawed people imagine that…
They are flawed, so what is the problem with my concerns and bringing that up when I do state that I respect that they are one of the best at their position in the game right now?
I've gone on record saying that I don't like the comments Bogut has made on the Warriors during the playoffs. That Draymond has said very stupid stuff.
I'm not particularly biased towards my team of choice. There isn't a problem with voicing things I dislike about a player while acknowledging their contributions to the game.
They come from a separate background that I may be unfamiliar with but at a spotlight stage you're going to have to adapt.

is Harden or LBJ that tho?
By blackace Go To Postbut really… the most talented players come from different worlds… many don't have real common sense because their lives have been really shelteredI dunno about this. At some point a person has to grow the fuck up and be a decent individual. Plus we're not just talking "I don't know how to manners here", we're also talking legit immoral shitty things these people do and others look the other way for their own benefit.
By blackace Go To Postis Harden or LBJ that tho?You gotta be specific too if you want me to stay specific. The above post I just quoted is in reference to all kinds of players not just the aforementioned ones. I think there comes a point where acting a brat is a completely bullshit excuse. I don't buy that no one amongst someone's inner circle has never challenged their attitude, we all know they just get ostracized.
oh sweet. character assassination time.
talented, athletic players making dumb mistakes.
its almost like they are human!

What are we talking about here? 90% of it comes down to sleeping with too many/the wrong women.
No ones out here running criminal enterprises, they're not funneling money to Isis, they're no different than rock stars in the 80's or rappers today. I'm fine with criticizing them but their behavior is pretty typical of fame and fortune at a relatively young age.
Dumb mistakes? Assaulting people, chasing minor tail, and sexual assault, mistakes, yeah cool, okay bros.
Dwight Howard, Morris twins, Matt Barnes, Kobe...I'll start keeping tabs on these so called "mistakes" more so maybe the level of denial might go down a tad.

break the law do your time. Shit I am with that but who and what immoral things are we talking about?
I know quite a few pros from different sports and even in lesser sports or leagues they come from a different worlds than us.
Like Bob Sapp couldn't understand why I couldn't just walk out of work to meet him for lunch loi he wasn't mad but had trouble reasoning why I couldn't just do it.
btw Sapp is one of the best people I have ever met
I just mentioned pro athletes in general not necessarily stars, you're the one only focusing on stars for some reason.

People talk about these dudes mistakes all the time. There are plenty of trust fund babies who contribute nothing to society, not even sports performance, who get off all the time for exactly these things, even worse. There are other folks that kill dudes and get hundreds of thousands of dollars to mount a defense and get off.
Your outrage specifically at athletes is weird. All entertainers get this treatment, many rich people do as well. It's shitty, but singling out this group of people seems...weird.
I don't really consider a lot of that stuff just "mistakes" people do. It's not outrage so much as disgust for the idea that committing those acts is just an oopsie.

because we were talking about stars and role models?

A new Halo released earlier and there's been more posts in here discussing something dumb than in the Halo thread. Bring on the season already.

I'm more disgusted that 1,000 poor people get fucked by the justice system than that no one pressed statutory rape charges on Dwight.
I'm more disgusted thousands of people get brutally attacked by cops than that Matt Barnes got into a fight with Fisher.
I get what you're saying, but the Barkley "role model" video would come in handy here.
As the saying goes "better a thousand guilty men roam free, than an innocent one go to jail" except now we're focusing on one guilty man, when I'd prefer to focus on the thousands of innocent ones
That's fair but people watch media for different reasons. If I stopped watching/listening/playing media by bad people, I would have nothing left. I wouldn't have Led Zeppelin. I gotta have Led Zeppelin.
Sometimes you just gotta separate the two and realize they're talking about the athlete and not the human.

What has Dwight Done?
The only thing was a rumor about him messing with an underage girl. A rumor based on a twitter pic of a young looking girl who's age nobody has ever confirmed, and never heard from again?
I'm not about to accuse anyone of anything over something with zero actual info.
Morris Twins got charged and I'm not seeing anyone going "well boys will be boys" or making excuses for them.
Barnes is a scumbag and nobody is defending him
Whole country turned on Kobe too

I mean, by those set standards, I wouldn't have Bill Murray in my entertainment life, and imagine how miserable that would be.
You can have them in your life, just be honest about how they're not "mistakes", this isn't forgetting to look before you merge.
Anyway
Is Ballstreams back up and working?
I went with LP on Comcast last year only to find out those fucks only offered ONE HD LP channel. The rest were in SD. Livid. Never again.

Bad choice of words. No one idolizes these people's character. Maybe their work ethic and accomplishments, but not their moral compass.
Talking about jailing them though? That's the focusing on the wrong broken component of the justice system in my eyes.
I'm still hoping LP does their annual free week so I can watch some games on the road. Lord knows I don't want to watch any Blazers games up here
😝
😝
it's like you damned if you do damned if you don't as an player...
Kobe was found innocent and I still give him shit about his case
Mike Vick found guilty and did his time but people still protest games.
Jared from subway rapes kids but people still buy sandwiches...
Dudes like Barkley are legends for throwing guys through windows....
the standards have double or even triple for awhile now

It goes deeper than that...
"I love watching NCAA over NBA cause of passion!"
"Richard Sherman is a thug!"
Same guy, most likely a Roethlisberger and Steelers fan, probably.

Reminder, unless BS comes through in the clutch like Kobe Melo LeBron Bosh. LP's one week free trial starts tomorrow.
By db Go To PostGone anywhere cool yet.
Portland Art Museum. Downtown area with like 80 food trucks. Different parts of town for work. I think I'm not going to get to sight see as much as I would like.
Want to go somewhere tomorrow evening aftet work and before the important basketball games start.
I heard there's a scenic drive and some mountains or waterfalls? Within an hour of Portland? That seems like where I wanna go.

I didn't wanna say it.... but yeah.
The whole "thug" crap is wild... Richard Sherman is a trash talker and I can see how if he wasn't on your team how easy it would be to hate him.. But dude is so well educated it's crazy.
Big Ben gets accused of date raping women and well we don't hear about that anymore....
