I know of several men this year who died of cancer in their late 50s and early 60s. It is pretty crazy.
Flip Saunders passed away.

It is with extreme sadness to report that today Phil “Flip” Saunders has passed away at age 60.
RIP
I'm so genuinely heartbroken. He meant so much to basketball in Minnesota and the Wolves especially.
Wow that's horrible! Fuck!
I hope Detroit and Washington do something for him too, along with the rest of the NBA.

I wonder if Ryan Saunders might get a chance at the HC job in the near future--he's been an assistant for some years now and he'd be able to grow with a young group. Flip had him under his wing for quite some time.
I honestly don't even want to think about what this means for the team right now. Eventually, they'll need a new GM, a new coach ...
Just go out there and do this year for Flip, boys.

Yeah I'm not trying to jump ahead of this sad event, just thinking how nice its been how he's been grooming his son
Holy shit. That was incredibly swift. Fuck.
:
Wow. Whole organization must be devastated. Best wishes to his family and such.

KG Pays tribute. Taking this hard, the younger guys will feel the same way and feel a bit more motivated.
Forever in my heart…
Most people see crazy asshole KG. I have zero doubt he cared about many significantly more during his professional career.
Wow.... RIP Flip you were an era of basketball all to yourself
Honestly I expect nothing else from KG
He is but he is super loyal...and I know this hurts his heart

Flip was such a great offensive coach his Piston teams were fun to watch because of the talent on the team... his TWolves never reached that talent level but he squeezed the most out of them.. the way he used KG was amazing
A little bit of silver lining, He kinda got the job done before this happened. Successfully brought KG back, which always felt like unfinished business. GM'd his way to as good a super young core as exists in the league.
And for a guy that's synonymous with Minnesota basketball, that's really really good news.

Silver lining? Sports does not matter compared to cancer. Sigh.
I understand what Vahagn is trying to say but silver lining isn't the phase I would use...
One thing to say is Flip LOVED basketball at all levels and was never above the game so him getting a chance to put together a young team with a promising future for Minny before passing seems like something that would give him some solace during his last days

The NBA season tips off this week, and the betting action at the Westgate SuperBook is shaping up as expected. More money has been bet on the Los Angeles Lakers to win the NBA title than on the Cleveland Cavaliers. And the sharp money is backing the Sacramento Kings. That's like... what?
Coincidentally, analysts are calling for a record NBA season for Las Vegas sportsbooks' profits.
