By giririsss Go To PostSort of. Gortat and Nene aren't complete bums. And lets not act like Beal isn't also good. And I'm not saying Wall isn't good, he obviously is, I'm just saying he has limitations.Beal is hilariously inefficient and still can't create his own shot. Gortat, is decent - but also requires being spoonfed. Nene is a chump.
Limitations that, particularly in the play offs, hurt the team a lot. Much like having a C that can't defend, having a PG that can't space is really limiting.
Compared to every other squad with a top PG? Its laughable. Hell, half of Bogut's value is that he is a key part of GS's offensive motion which allows Curry to play off-ball whenever Kerr feels like it. No other PG in the league has that luxury other than him and YNB. I'd also say that every other top 5 PG could be removed from their team and that team would still be in the playoffs. Wizards are Nuggets-tier without Wall.
i wonder if Hardens PPG will drop to around 24-25 as a result of Lawson
Or I wonder if Lawson ends up being transformed into a sixth man super sub

Also, Eh, Beal gets a lot of hate here but he really shouldn't. Has a better efg% than Wall, shoots over .400 from 3. Wall simply couldn't do what he does with out someone like that on the team. They also have very similar on/off numbers.
Beal also seems to end up with the ball at the end of a lot of possessions in the play offs once wall realises he can't get a shot off. he does turn it over a lot though.
He's also only 21.
Nene is trash today. He's a liability on defense and his offense is nothing special. He's done. Humphries and Seraphin were better than him, and so was Gooden in the playoffs. Don't be fooled by Nene's rebounding numbers in the last playoff game, he should have gotten like 22 total easily but gave them all up for offensive boards for the Hawks... The whole arena wanted to kill him (while early in the season, he was easily the local favorite after Wall, mostly because he's so recognizeable...).

By giririsss Go To PostAlso, Eh, Beal (…) Has a better efg% than Wall,
Well, thank god he is like .1% better with the kind of creator he has with him, it should be much more...
I like Beal. He's good. But he's too easily injured, and you can't act like he's doing anything that OJ Mayo wouldn't do. He's not special. Hopefully he gets better.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Posti wonder if Hardens PPG will drop to around 24-25 as a result of LawsonHis assist numbers will go down now he doesn't have to run point. The injury situation couldn't be as bad as last season (touch wood), so I assume Harden won't have to carry this team as much as last season's.

By DY_nasty Go To PostI still think Nene threw that game. The moment that sticks out from that series is horford punking nene and getting the putback
To be fair even though he's a score first and score heavy guard, Steph Curry is still definitely a point guard.
He still creates and handles an offence while having to make quick decisions. If you're gonna argue whether or not someone's really a point guard do that for YNB.
I do agree that John Wall needs a supporting cast to complement his skill set. He's definitely a top 5, even Top 3 point guard.

I just also have to admit that GS's sets and motion are so damned good that he doesn't even 'need' to play PG at times. The finals were a perfect example of that.

Yeah it's just that early in his career people questioned his ability to really handle the offence and dish out assists as a PG rather than an SG, some people still do.
He's versatile but still a point guard not a shooting guard because of his size and lack of athleticism.
But in a complex, team system everyone has to be able to pass and handle the ball as a "point". He doesn't necessarily need to play point at times because other players can do it. Manu's the same way. In a system where everyone is able to pass efficiently and handle the ball decently, you're basically all sharing a "point" duty.

I was expecting Beal to make a Klay Thompson like leap. Dude chucks nothing but a bunch of long twos(Whittman) and doesn't get to the hoop/line enough. He's mad soft. How is the light skin, create-a-player dude tougher than you? Washington could of had Harden for the pick that was Beal. smh
By giririsss Go To PostBut thats what sort of elevates curry into the great, not good, category. He's not limited to playing his position in one way. That's not what I mean though. If Wall decides to play off-ball and just focus on slashing or exploiting a defense, how is that team even going to function? GS has the luxury of a point-forward in Iguodala, a rare post-up PG in Liv, a high-post passing big in Bogut, a passing stretch 4 in Draymond, and a top 10 SG in Klay... That all has nothing to do with Curry's versatility. That team would be a handful with or without Curry. Him playing off-ball every once in a while just adds to what they already have which is one of the most dynamic offenses in the league.
Meanwhile, Wall is hoping that Otto Porter can be at least as good as flabby pierce
DY defending John Wall's honor is something I never thought I'd see..
wow.
Wall has gotten a lot better , I generally can only base this off of Sixers games (we are extra free against the Wizards...have been for years even pre Hinkie) but still the time where you could leave Wall open all day is over...no longer is his only offense is blitzing to the rim full court at all times. He's not Curry from 3 or even good persay but you can't leave him open either.

Wall went from pretty good to bum status to great.
I can't recall if I've ever seen that before, tbh.

People keep saying this like he's a guard or a wing or something. Randle has been getting his shot consistently and efficiently these past 3 games. It'd help him a lot to have a jumper but it won't make or break him, especially not this early in his career.

Usually open to everyone from the previous year for a while, then extra spots are filled.
Unless we're going with more than 14 this year
