By AlphaSnacks Go To PostYep. Him and Big Daddy Quinn are going to lead that second unit. And so far, they're doing a bang up job. Because in both games they've been opening up leads against the opposition when they're on the floor, along with Langston and Grant.do you even preseason breh

Preseason or not, it's an observation. And an accurate one too. The Knicks bench erased a lead against the Wizards starters at the end of the 1st half and went up. That just tells me that the team is clicking and playing well together which is in stark contrast to last year's hideous pre-season games. Nothing more, nothing less.

LMAO. Ok breh.
Yeah Wiz weren't trying to win. Nope. Not at all. Knicks didn't even look like they were "trying hard" either. If anything, Wiz looked like they were putting in more effort, running the floor aggressively every chance they could but coming up short. Janking 3s left and right. Trying to drive in and getting rejected. Beal looking like trash not matter how much he tried and looking frustrated as all hell.
You sound like the hater-ass Heat fans back in the day when they'd lose to teams like the Knicks or Pacers during regular season with nonsense like: "Oh they just coastin."
Foh. Preseason games don't matter shit as far as stats, but there's dudes on both team's benches that are proving themselves and both teams want to win no matter what. And hey, the Knicks won. Nobody's saying they're the best. We're enjoying this shit one game at a time.
But you know, enjoy Jeremy Lin's rejuvenated and winning formula of basketball for the next year. I'm sure it'll be swell.
It's amazing to me Dy can still hold Knicks record last year against them after they were tanking and were starting a lineup of Aldrich, Jason Smith, gimpy Carmelo and crap, but is silent when #1 option Jeremy Lin comes up.
Seriously dude why do you do this.
Seriously dude why do you do this.
I've watched two of the three preseason Kings games and the team is some sort of mutant hybrid of Karl's Nuggets and the championship Celtics squad.
Rondo : Rondo/Andre Miller/Billups
Marco : Ray Allen/Gallo/JR Smith
Gay: Pierce/Melo
WCS: Javale with IQ
Koufos: Perkins/Koufos
Cousins: Garnett/Nene
Collison : Nate Robinson/Ty Lawson
Butler: honorary tough vet
When Collison is in, the team plays more of the spread and drive Kentucky/Karl offense. When Rondo is in it's a mix of that and some plays Rondo calls himself, often plays that look a lot like something the Celtics used to run. The main issue is that McLemore should be the Ray Allen role but he has looked lost so far. He still struggles too much putting the ball on the floor and making decisions. He might want to just be a guilt free shooter at this point. If he doesn't hit his first shot then it sort of vanishes from the game and his defense isn't good enough to overcome that.

Gotta say, I don't think D Will will be consistent. And there's no way he's a starter. Although it's possible. Phil/Triangle makes role players better then they are. But O Quinn? Damn, perfect fit for this offense.
I disagree with people wanting Galloway and Grant as starters. Without Porzingis and Lopez blocking shots, Calderon and Vujacic are exponentially worse.
I don't think D Will and O Quinn are a good enough back line of defense to play with Vujacic or Calderon.

DWill shows up once every few weeks, drops 20-30 and then vanishes from relevance. He doesn't do anything other than score and he cannot do that reliably.
His nickname in Sacto was the coke machine because George Karl rather blatantly said that you could send a Coke Machine out onto the floor and it would grab more rebounds than him.

Preseason is very difficult to actually review your team. A lot of teams are playing dudes that will be playing in Germany in a month, starters are going through the motions and most dudes are just trying not to get hurt. The Knicks however are full of dudes trying to prove themselves and get playing time.
you can start to judge as we get closer to opening night where teams look to actually begin to warm up for the season.

Been too busy to watch basketball the last week. Can anyone fill me in on how are the Lakers doing? What about the other top draft picks?

By Kuma Go To PostKnicks slaent hyping up Derrick Williams and Kyle O'Quinn…Not like thislol
I mean this is what preseason is about and all that but if you are starting Jose and Sasha at your one and two I can't see you having a successfully season unless Melo turns into prime MJ or Kobe.. but crazier things have happened..
They're only starting Sasha because Afflalo is hurt and and it looks like they're trying to see how Grant and Galloway function as energy players off the bench. Pretty sure Sasha is gonna be a fringe rotation player at best. Calderon started for a successful team (in the west) the season before last.
By unknown Go To Postyou act like the wizards are anything special in the first place. lets wait and see before thinking this knicks team is terrible.
So you're saying the Wiz are not special, in order to hype up the Knicks?
The Wiz are a surefire playoff team and Wall alone has more value than the entire Knicks roster.

the Mavs were much deeper and have a really good defensive scheme and Jose is get to old to guard anything
Its crazy the knicks play well "it means nothing" but if they played bad "see I told you they ain't shit"
They were running the offense out there well and not just staring at Melo thats a very big positive
Also I like that second unit. It looks like it can come in and not lose the lead.
Both those things if they transfer over are going to make Melo's role as the star on the team a lot easier.
I also don't think the wiz were not trying, but the knicks looked more prepared and that is also great to see from them.

Plenty of dudes like Ariza, Brown, Sasha, Fisher struggle to get minutes in other teams but do really well in the triangle.
I fully expect some guys to Shine in this offense that wouldn't be in the top 9 or 10 in rotation in other teams.
I think O Quinn is a great example. Possibly D Will, but he's going to have to be good for two months before I say anything too positive about him.
The real thing Knicks fans should be excited about is the ability of Lopez, Porzi, and O Quinn to block shots. Each of them can give you 3 blocks on any given night, and considering they had exactly 0 people last year that could be intimidating in the paint, this is a welcome sign.
Starting Calderon isn't a big problem if your back line of defense is good, he'll mainly give up open 18 footers when he gets screened off. Not too many smalls are going to score consistently in the paint over Lopez and Porzi's length.
And if he's getting lit up, they can just switch Afflalo on them or bring in Galloway. Not saying Knicks are a playoff team, but given health - they should win 35-40 games.

What the fuck does that even mean? What shitty wording and quite the random isolated factor. I ran the numbers, O'Quinn does it once every 10-11 games, Lopez every 5 or so, and you make it sound like they're Patrick Ewing.

Not everyone wants to take the Dy route and look a fool before the first game is ever played though
Lakers should be at about 30 wins give or take. If Miami doesn't crack 40 wins they ain't shit. Knicks should be in the low 30s/high 20s, basically all depending on Melo's health.
Lakers will finish with fewer wins then the Knicks. Harder conference, equal or worse talent, and equal or worse coaching.
