I really don't think the Hawks season wasn't a success because they didn't win the title. It's a league where eight teams have won in the last like 30 years so a championship isn't really in the cards for most of them.

Eh. Bucks fell apart after the MKG trade. Add in Jabari's and Monroe's inability to play defense and their defense is going to dip. Especially if Giannis or Middleton miss time for any signicanr stretch.
They'll most likely be better offensively, but they've definitely downgraded as far as defensive players go.
Did anyone on planet earth think Cousins at the 4 was a good idea? Why they picked WCS outside of being sure they'd get a massive haul for Cousins is beyond me.

By Shun Go To PostThe issue is that these teams do really well in the beginning and gas out by the end compared to other more successful teams who finish the season strong. It sets the tone for the postseason and although the Hawks were successful, they ultimately fell through from their goal which was chipping a ring. In that regard, they were unsuccessful and gave credit to their critics that argued that the Hawks were not built and ready for the postseason.Few teams start off slow and win chips.. Even the Spurs who lost to the Heat won 58 games and had a 13 and 4 record in Nov.. The Spurs team that chipped before that had an 11 and 5 Nov but like a 12 and 3 Dec.. They also won 58 games.. any team that wins about 60 games is solid all year..
They struggled their way to the conference finals after posing dominance against their other matchups in the regular season.
They went 2-2 with Cleveland during the season and we and they expected a more competitive and successful Conference Finals. They left being swept. Not only that but they lost a key piece in Demarre Carol and we don't know how well they will be now that they disappointed post February.
The things those teams I listed had in common were that they reached a midway point with great success leading up to it. Then after that month, they slip a lot and lose out on their seeding and morale. Losing and ending the season weak will affect your morale and your potential success. Had those teams ended strong and looked well prepared for the upcoming post season, they could have found much more success.
A team starting weak but ending strong is much more successful than a team that starts off strong and eventually fall off by the end of the regular season.
I'm not arguing that they won't be good, but they might hit their stride and eventually fall off which happens to a lot of teams. The ultimate goal is to win a championship.
I don't disagree that finishing strongly is better than backing into the playoffs but I think you are giving way too much credit to it.. Winning 60 games is a pretty huge accomplishment these days... yeah it comes down to chipping but saying that the Hawks are frauds because they went insane before the break is silly to me.. saying they are frauds for any other number of reasons and we can talk..

We really don't know how good or how bad Parker will be on D unless you think 25 games as rookie is a big enough sample size to declare his inability to play D...
Monroe will be better on D on the Bucks.. His D was never that bad he just has trouble cover the 4 all the time.. his DWS was equal to Iggy last year but advance stats are only good when someone needs them to be..

By diehard Go To PostMonroe allows 55.1% at the rim, he is a bad defender. When did he ever have good perimeter defenders in front of him, thought? Defense around the basket is a lot harder when you have guys that can't get stops at the wing spots.

Maybe it will change.
Monroe playing out of position at the 4 with bad perimeter defenders ahead of him--oh, and Drummond isn't great on D either.
He'll be better defensively on the Bucks--how much so, idk.

Defense is so team-based and the guys on the wings are especially important. Nikola Pekovic's defense wasn't a problem when he has Rubio out there hounding guys on the perimeter. It's when you have Mo Wiliams or JJ Barea at point that the narrative becomes, well, he isn't any good.
System also plays a huge role in how good you are on D.. Monroe has played for horrible coaches until now too
This isn't the year to judge the defensive potential of that front court though--I'd expect it to be horrible, at least for the portions in which Jabari is on the floor. Not enough minutes during his rookie year to improve defensively and the ACL recovery will continue to be a process when he's back on the floor.
Knux...it begins tonight. I have to DVR it and watch it late though because of class. Free Oubre.

I am uncomfortable believing that a guy who has averaged .7 blocks per 36 minutes in his career is better suited to center.
I mean, he might be okay next to a PF like Prime AK47, Anthony Davis, Ibaka-Guys that can really protect the rim.
But Jabari Parker is not that guy.

Im not betting on Monroe being a solid back line of defense at all.
I'm also not betting on Middleton posting up top 5-10 league wide advanced stats again.
Plus, MCW is really really really really bad at winning basketball games.

By masud Go To PostThat's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on Espn.
Honestly, ESPN should've fined his ass for talking like that. Does he think online and TV sports journalism is the hood or something?

They fired Whitlock and Simmons. SAS is probably next
MCW is finally going to have a training camp where he isn't hurt and isn't the only option offensively. Kidd seemed to actually begin to get him to stop taking yolo shots too. The Bucks actually began to fall off with Brandon "Walking L" Knight too....what actually had them playing so well was their role players playing out of their minds (Dudley, Mayo, Bayless)., then they got hurt or came back to earth. Monroe also can't be that worse than Zaza.
The Bucks are an interesting team tho. Super long and athletic and even if Monroe isn't the best defender in the paint, their length will give teams problems...I personally worry about spacing (something MCW did fuck up) as Middleton is their only consistant shooter, Jabari is still an unknown IMO.

His best position is center offensively. Yes, he's not fantastic at the defensive part of the job of his position, but its possible for a team to make up for that with scheme and good (great) perimeter defense.
Will the Bucks be capable of this? Who knows. Chances don't seem great with Jabari coming off an ACL tear though.

I've been to playoffs games with crowds that are much less enthusiastic than that
The Clippers have had three cracks at it with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan all in their primes, and they’re not afraid to admit the fourth could be their last — that another flameout will force them to ask whether the core has grown stale.
“We’re right on the borderline,” Doc Rivers tells Grantland during a long sit-down at his office. “I have no problem saying that. I’m a believer that teams can get stale. After a while, you don’t win. It just doesn’t work. We’re right at the edge. Oklahoma City is on the edge. Memphis, too. We just have to accept it.”
“You hope it’s not an opportunity you never get again,” Jamal Crawford says. The team was shell-shocked, relieved they had an extra day off to decompress ahead of Game 7, Crawford remembers. It didn’t matter; Houston walloped them again. “I’m in my 16th year, and that was my best chance ever at getting to the Finals,” he says.http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-edge-of-glory-will-the-clippers-make-the-leap-or-hit-reset/

He's right. I see a big shake up coming next year in the West if none of those teams reach the finals.
Jordan challenged about three fewer shots at the rim per 36 minutes than most other behemoth basket protectors, since Rivers’s scheme often had him hounding little dudes 30 feet from the hoop. The Clippers were a good defensive rebounding team, but they could be impervious if Jordan and Griffin spent more time around the rim.Wow. I knew Doc was a bad GM but his coaching tactics leave a lot to be desired as well.

NBA auto-subscribed me to LeaguePass and I did not authorize that shit. Last year I had to pay manually. This year they just re-upped me. FOH.
Calling Chase right now for a chargeback.
