It's that time again. October. The pre-season is here. I'll keep this short:
LeBron stole Gilbert's wallet and handed out money to everyone, yes even JR Smith got some. Truly the King the Cavaliers organization needed.
Still, defiant infidel Tristan Thompson hasn't realized yet that he's an expandable big that can be replaced with ease, yet still demands a huge contract and has rejected already outrageous offers multiple times.
Shumpert is broken down again. Out for 3 months +.
Laker's D'Angelo Russell has apparently found a way to shimmy left and right when making his way to the hoop. He has discovered the art of the layup.
Edit: During said shimmying, he's incurred a bone bruise today. :\
Jeremy Lin starred in a little video featuring much of his friends across the 36 NBA teams he's already played in the past 4 years. DY's got his jersey and posters hung up, already.
James Harden still doesn't understand how business deals work.
Robin Lopez might be a furry who enjoys molesting mascots. Which I'm cool with.
Tyson Chandler thought he could sway Markieff to stay with the Suns. LOL.
1st pre-season game: Denver vs Clippers tonight.
Schedule:

By KingGondo Go To Posthttp://basketball.realgm.com/nba/preseason/scheduleThx. Time to reup on ball streams.
Ballstreams is acting weird for me. I was a premium member last year, and now all I see is the message "BallStreams is currently only serving existing members" when I log in.
None of the menus work either.

I'm excited to see Gobert go against Hibbert.
Also, we were voted least hated team in the league, shit sucks. Basically all of our guys are good people (Favors in particular), but we're only not hated because people don't care enough yet. We'll fucking show them tho.

We need two things to go right for our team to be really good this year:
1. Bryce Cotton or Trey Burke or Raul Neto becomes a good PG (this is possibly, but unlikely for Cotton... Less likely for the other two I think)
2. Favors and Hayward make jumpshots this year.
We're going to be the top 3 in the league defensively with Gobert, Favors, and Withey (I believe still), but we need those two things to check out to be even okay offensively.
ya'll got a bootleg stream where I could watch the pre-season game, I'd pay for ballstreams, but the way my bank account setup.. it ain't pretty inside
By db Go To PostI'm probably wrong but I just don't see the Jazz as aggressive enough.
In terms of players or management? Our management I don't think is aggressive enough either, but our players (Gobert and Hayward in particular) certainly are aggressive enough.
I don't really know how much value there is to super high defensive rankings when they are paired with a terrible offensive rating. I've seen too many terrible basketball teams with good defensive rankings, and I don't have enough data to specifically say there's causation there, but I think there's a definite correlation. Bad offensive teams design almost everything they do towards defense, because they don't have the talent to do otherwise.
Now I'm not suggesting the Jazz don't have legitimately good defensive players, but my concern is that its predicated on a concept that I'm not sure can have long term success. I don't see Gobert and Favors as being particularly favorable in any way against top teams with an ability to play small.
What the Jazz have--I think, is fantastic depth of talent at the center position, and an all-star in G-Tyme. But I don't think its enough to make the playoffs out west.

There's like seven good teams out West other than us though.
We'll run into problems against Golden State or against OKC (if they finally decide to play KD/Ibaka upfront) in the postseason, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

29 of the last 30 teams in the top 5 defensive rankings made the playoffs.
Losing Exum will hurt our defense but we have to be top 5 to have a chance, even then its tough out here.
I dont know what Jazz fans getting a dose of reality would be.. even a 5-6 game improvement would them in the mix, which is what we are all hoping for.
Dammit Trey just dont fuck it up. Seriously, just pass the ball on offense and provide some semblance of resistance on defense.

By diehard Go To Postbruh G-TYME is like the premier white dunker in da league
Well, he was until Mario Hezonja got drafted :(
Still has best white American dunker title.
By Vahagn Go To PostMario's either going to win ROTY or punch his coach in the face. Can't wait
Yeah, and shoot a ref.
Sigh.
Can't wait until Porzinigis straight posterizes someone regular season. I'm surprised how fast it sounds like they'll bring him along. I thought he'd be a garbagetime hero until 2016; apparently they plan for him to play some rotation minutes off the bat.

He will play 4-5 and even some at 3, depending on how much confidence they have in his shot. He will likely average 15 minutes a game.

"I just don’t think there was good chemistry, and I think that was a problem," Reed said.http://espn.go.com/blog/newyork-knicks/post/_/id/63081/reed-knicks-had-chemistry-issues-last-year
The Hall of Famer, who won two titles with the Knicks, sees a different mindset among this year’s group.
“I just think the chemistry is better. And that’s always a positive,” he said.
I'd come back at infidel Tristan with a deal just over what Henson just got from the Bucks. It's all he deserves, really. $55-60 million over 5 years.
Even the $80M offer he turned down had my face over the toilet. Take that shit off the table.

The qualifying offer was about $7 million less than Thompson would earn in 2015-16 under Cleveland’s proposed deal. He’d have to make more than $18 million per season starting in 2016-17 to make up for that lost cash, and given how close that $18 million number is to his projected max, it’s not a lock that Thompson would have managed to equal out the money. The Cavs understood this, and held firm.Basically, by saying no to the $80mil offer, TT would have to get a Max just to make the same amount after all.
The gap between Cleveland’s proposal and Thompson’s max — about $2.5 million next season, and $14 million over five years — matters more than it might appear. That $2.5 million alone would cost Cleveland about $12 million next season in extra tax penalties.CBA actually doing one of the things it was meant to do.
By db Go To PostReilo have you been paying attention at all to the Blazers because I haven't.Not really. I read something about Moe Harkless having improved his three-point shot and then sighed.

I haven't been able to subscribe this year, either. I sent an email to support about it and hopefully I hear back soon since the Wolves first game is Wednesday.
You guys see the clip of DMC walking off the court after a foul call during practice? Lmao

Cousins needs to not worry about the refs. Like that's not changing dude. You will get called for fouls. Just play through.
I'm not entirely sure anout Melo's knee. Something seems off. He said he was a 100% during training camp last year too, came out and was immediately hobbled.
If he's not as good as 2013 Melo, Knicks are in for a miserable miserable season

And Shumpert. Phil specifically called them out in his interview that when it came to chemistry their was way too much ego from the both of them. And he wanted to get rid of egos. Bargs isn't egotistical, he just sucks. I'd imagine Amare's also got a bit of an ego too. It was just poor chemistry all across the board.
