That bullshit overturned touchdown and Todd Sturdy having us throw on THIRD AND FUCKING ONE WHEN THE RUNNING GAME HAS BEEN COMPLETELY FUCKING THEM OVER ALL GAME cost us the game. Seriously, we fire Mangino only to replace him with Turd Andone.
Nice to get bowl eligible with this win, as I don't feel good about our chances to beat Texas on Thanksgiving in our only remaining game.
This makes the 21st time in the last 23 seasons that we've been bowl eligible.

Oklahoma getting lucky on the no calls. Should have been a hold and an illegal receiver downfield on that td.

Glad we get both OU and Baylor at home. If we win one of them we'll be in position for one of the New Year's Six bowl games.

TCU recruiting class taking some hits lately. Lost a 4-star WR to Houston and a 4-star RB to Texas A&M last week, then lost a 3-star OL to Oklahoma State today.
The WR, admittedly, is a likely grades casualty. I know Tech was trying to flip him from TCU for quite a while but when he was let go last week we didn't really make any effort to pick him up. I think we made some inquiry to his coach but nothing much past that.

We also picked up a WR, Tyrell Alexander, who decommitted a couple months back and was considering Baylor. The chance to catch passes from Rudolph for the next couple of years must be pretty appealing.
By KingGondo Go To PostI don't know how Aggy keeps on getting recruits. $$$ most likely.Recruiting has never really been A&M's problem. When they were in the Big XII they arguably recruited better year in and year out than anybody in the conference other than OU and UT. Nebraska is probably the only competition.

The last time they were truly relevant was the late '90s.
I suppose you could argue they were relevant when Manziel was QB, but even that year they only finished third in their own division.

I assume you meant "UNDERperform?" Same reasons anybody underperforms, I guess. Can't really point to anything specific over this long a period of time.
They've got two 5-star QBs throwing to a massive pile of 4- and 5-star NFL draft pick receivers from behind an NFL draft pick studded OL and they're currently 40th in the country in passing yards/game.
Aggie QB#1 got broken playing Alabama, and afterwards the other 5 star QB whined and threatened to leave if he didn't get playing time, and the coaching staff gave in on his demand. He's since played horribly.
I also don't think they are as good as they were on the offensive line as they were 1-2 years ago.

Don't know why we're discussing irrelevant programs anyways. The OP has been updated with the bullshit college football playoff committee rankings.
By Lonestar Go To PostI also don't think they are as good as they were on the offensive line as they were 1-2 years ago.Agree, but I did a quick search before I submitted that original post. OT Ifedi is a fringe 1st round guy, plus OG Cheek and C Matthews would not be surprises to go in the 6th or 7th, and that's just 2016. Didn't check their underclassmen.
Article that comes fairly close to echoing how I feel about CFB: It's stupid, but damn do I love it.

@TheOkiePokie: Desmond Howard says a one-loss ND should get in over a potentially undefeated #okstate. "Just because I have so much respect for Stanford."I actually kinda hope this happens. Between 2011 and this year we'd have infinite reserves of indignation. NOBODY GETS LESS RESPECT THAN US.
By cashman Go To Postgeez baylor ran it right down their throats.Baylor's just better than us. I can admit that.
That said, we can still beat OU and go to a great bowl. Even if we lose that game we've had a hell of a season.
Rhoads was one of the better coaches we had as a person. Real nice guy, helped around in the community. Darn near every week, he'd bring in a bunch of football players to the local hospital and just talk with the patients and take pictures and stuff. It's just a real shame that he couldn't produce wins. Dunno if this year was the best year to fire him, with all of the openings, but it was probably better sooner rather than later.
That being said, I think this just shows more of an issue with our AD than anything. He thought it was a good idea to fire McCarney all those years ago, even though he brought the program from its death bed to competing in bowl games, and replace him with Chizik. He hired Cael Sanderson, arguably the best wrestler of all time, but wasn't willing to pay the money to keep him. He went to Penn State and won back to back NCAA championships. Fred Hoiberg came and left. Pollard has the ability to get coaches, but he hasn't been able to keep them, which sucks for us. Hopefully whoever replaces Rhoads can produce and not jump ship.
I want Doc Holliday, HC of Marshall, but if Holgerson's seat is getting warmer, then the WVU job would probably be his dream job. I've heard rumblings of Oregon OC, Scott Frost, but I dunno if he'd come to ISU or wait another year to potentially take a Nebraska HC job. Some other names I've heard are Bob Stitt, Montana HC; Tony Alford, former ISU assistant and current Ohio State RB coach; and Matt Campbell Toledo HC. No big names, but it's not like ISU is going to get anyone like that. (Saban, if you want to prove you're the best coach, we are hiring *wink*)

Iowa State is a tough job. Hopefully you guys can find your Mike Gundy: a guy with a vision who wants to be there for a long time.
Frogs kept our hopes of a Big 12 title (and maybe even the playoffs?) alive.
Still feel like we'll lose tomorrow, but we have nothing to lose and everything to gain, and they have to come to our place.

Looks like Toledo's Matt Campbell is currently the front runner for the Iowa State job. He's currently the 3rd youngest FBS head coach, and getting hired by Iowa State would make him the youngest P5 coach (about 8 months younger than Kingsbury).

It's really, really hard to win there.
...
As for me: in spite of my best intentions, I'm nervous as hell for the game. I don't expect to win but this team has defied expectations all year. You don't get many chances to win your conference on your home field.
GO POKES!
Iowa State is definitely a stepping stone job. You put together a literal handful of wins, and suddenly you have a job at Auburn recruiting Cam Newton. Earle Bruce -> Ohio State, Johnny Majors -> Pitt, Tom Herman (OC) -> Ohio State (OC), Chizik -> Auburn
