Well our class sucks as far as I can tell.
I mean, Gundy has always been great at finding diamonds in the rough and developing them, but you need a certain standard of baseline talent across the board to compete with the big boys.
Competition in Texas is crazy right now. The SEC has a nice foothold because of Aggy (and the national brand of some of the big programs), then you have programs like Baylor, TCU, and even Houston pulling in talented guys.
Others schools have caught up facilities-wise too, and OU and Texas look like they might be back on the upswing. Tough position to be in.
Just gonna try and enjoy the last 2 years with Rudolph, because it might be a very steep dropoff after that.

So there was a huge rift that i apparently missed about the Kyle Allen situation. John Lopez reported in December that Allen was in Houston MEETING with Herman and other UH folks. This rubbed Herman the wrong was as it was wrong (the title) and could've potentially hurt the program. Lopez and Herman go back and forth. Lopez invites Herman on to the morning show to air it out. Herman goes HAM and the back and forth is crazy on live radio. Listen in...it's about 14 mins of heat

Herman "who are you man" at cohost Nick Wright (who is a clown down here) lmao. 610 and both of these clowns look bad. Lopez is biased (A.M. graduate), and Nick is just annoying.

I'd love to see them get back to being at least decent.
Re-rating the Big XII recruiting classes of 2012
Ouch, and our 2013 class doesn't look much better as far as washouts. 2013 was the Tuberville/Kingsbury transition class, in which Tuberville really screwed us on numbers before skipping town, so hopefully in a year or two we're fully out of the massive talent/depth hole he put us in.
8. Texas Tech Red Raiders
2012 grade: B-
2016 grade: D+
Easy to figure out how Texas Tech went 4-8 a year ago when you review this group. Tommy Tuberville’s last class at Tech, ranked 20th nationally by ESPN, was a disaster. ESPN 150 signees Dominique Wheeler and Michael Starts were among the 13 busts in this 27-man class. Only a couple of Tuberville’s nine junior college transfers made a meaningful impact, and so far just four high school signees have become multiyear starters.

From the re-rating of KU's class:
Charlie Weis’ first class at Kansas might be remembered best for prized QB transfers Dayne Crist and Jake Heaps, but they weren’t the only ones who didn’t pan out in Lawrence. Hard to figure out where a few of these guys ended up – they just disappear off the roster – but there were a few solid contributors in this 23-man class. An overreliance on junior college transfers cost KU dearly years later.Lmao. Start searching forested areas in Lawrence.
By KingGondo Go To PostFrom the re-rating of KU's class:I think I heard that the 2015 roster only had 60 something scholarship players on it. They also only have 13 commits right now, and 5 days ago that number was only 10.

They have roster issues like nothing I've ever seen. Going to be a long rebuilding process up there, assuming things ever get rebuilt. I hope their current head coach gets at least 4 or 5 years almost completely regardless of results just to try to build some continuity.

The apathy of the fanbase will probably help give him time.

KU's a better baseline job than ISU or KSU in my opinion. Very good school, beautiful campus, close to KC and closer to Texas than either of those schools. Should be a bowl contender more often than not imo.
Looks like two guys have been dropped from our commit lists over the last few days. Both were apparently let go months ago, but without them mentioning it to anybody (and coaches not technically allowed to mention recruits by name) nobody knew for sure.
Both 2-stars, and there were rumors about both going around for a while now, so not all that big of a deal, but both were defensive players and we certainly need all the help we can get there.
In other news, Zach Farrar just switched to OU. He was schedule to take visits to Mississippi State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State a few weeks back but cancelled the latter two after visiting and committing to MSU.

Yeah, I wish I could muster any interest in recruiting. It appears we're fighting an uphill battle for the foreseeable future with the increased competition in Texas.
I'll look over the guys we ultimately sign, but I'm not following the horse race.

The addition of TCU to the conference probably hurt Oklahoma State more than anybody else, recruiting-wise, in the long term. Even when they're down they'll be cutting into your recruiting significantly.
Tech will be hurt also, but we've got the alumni base in the right places and in-state status to soften it a bit.
I follow recruiting pretty closely, it just matches up with my personality pretty well, but I don't get too worked up about it; I just like to watch all the moving pieces.

Houston's resurgence has hurt us as well. We used to pull in a lot of kids from there.
We had a grad assistant from Louisiana leave us too, and he got us in on a lot of under-the-radar kids from LA.

Audie is a Plano East guy, hope he does well.
Dontavious Jackson committed to FSU over Texas.
McCulloch chooses Texas as expected. I think we have one more coming in Jordan Elliot and that should be it for Texas today.

Another fairly boring signing day for us, though it's by more or less by design. Of the 24 guys we signed today, 20 of them were already committed before the season even started and 3 more committed back in November. The final one is a guy that we only started recruiting when we hired a coach that had already been recruiting him at his other school.
Only "drama" we've had lately is 2 of our lowest rated commits being dropped from the list (that had been rumored to have been dropped behind the scenes for months already) and finding out that one guy at our deepest position group is not signing today due to academics (but he should be greyshirting and will be around in the Spring).
Not a lot of star power on our list this year, but there is a lot of depth, in particular defensive depth, and we DEFINITELY need that. I think the goal this year was to lock up a full depth class early with guys the coaches liked, instead of holding out for the stars they loved, and I think they accomplished that very well.

WHOOP(s)
Going HAMM: Predicting the Aggies' 2016 Defensive Finish by Taylor Hamm, Dec 8, 2015
Texas A&M has 10-11 spots left to fill in their 2016 recruiting class. GigEm247’s Taylor Hamm takes a stab at predicting the Aggies’ finish on the defensive side of the ball.
1. Nacogdoches DB Brandon Jones: Officially visiting Texas A&M this weekend. Has plans to make a decision on National Signing Day. The Aggies’ main competition appears to be the Texas Longhorns but the five-star prospect is still considering Ole Miss, Oregon, Auburn, LSU and Baylor. Kevin Sumlin’s program is still the overwhelming favorites to land the Nation’s top rated safety.
2. Aldine Davis LB Jeffrey McCulloch: The Under Armour All-American linebacker was a Longhorn lean in the early stages of his recruitment but John Chavis has made a big impact on the four-star defender. He will be in on his official visit this weekend and we should know whether or not he intends to announce his decision in January or push it back after he returns from College Station. If the Top247 prospect stays in-state all signs point towards McCulloch choosing the Aggies. If he leaves the Lone Star State, it will be a Stanford/Notre Dame battle.
3. FB Elkins DT Ross Blacklock: Also officially visiting College Station this week, the Army All-American is leaning towards A&M at the moment and is expected to announce his commitment in San Antonio. However, there is a chance the four-star run stopper elects to take a few more visits after the dead period so there’s a chance he ends up taking a little more time before making a commitment. Considered an LSU/A&M battle, we’re hearing the Tigers are not pursuing as hard as they once were.
4. Saguaro (AZ) CB Byron Murphy: I originally put my Crystal Ball pick in for the Army All-American to A&M back in the early spring time but after the Aggies’ lost out on the N’Keal Harry sweepstakes, all signs pointed towards the four-star prospect staying close to home. However, over the past few weeks, things have taken a turn and now the Aggies and Washington Huskies has emerged as the frontrunners. With Murphy expected to announce his decision during the dead period, there’s a good chance we see a YESSIR! pop up around Christmas time.
5. Waco DB Eric Cuffee: In a matter of a few weeks this summer, the Aggies went from being eliminated after not offering in the springtime to the perceived favorites for the Under Armour All-American. This weekend the four-star ball-hawk will be in Austin officially visiting the Longhorns but there’s not much Charlie Strong and his staff can do to delay the inevitable on January 2nd.
6. Wildcard: The Aggies will likely take more than five defensive prospects to round out this class but will they land one of the remaining targets they are “still in the running” for listed below or will they get in on an under-the-radar prospect late in the process? This time of the year is always crazy with the numbers crunch so it’s tough to predict.
Still in the running: Serra (CA) DL Oluwole Betiku, John Ehret (LA) LB Michael Divinity (LSU commit), St. Augustine (LA) DT D'Andre Christmas-Giles (Tennessee commit), Santa Fe (OK) LB Calvin Bundage, Rummell (LA) CB Kristian Fulton, North Shore DB Eric Monroe (LSU commit), Calvary Baptist CB Andraez Williams (LSU commit), Haywood (TN) DE Emmit Gooden, Wossman (LA) DB Cameron Lewis (LSU commit) and Spring Westfield DT Ed Oliver (Houston commit).

Because I think it's weird for grown adults to obsess over teenage boys.
Thankfully I have the luxury of knowing that we're pretty much always getting a great class, so I have an excuse for not caring much.

Yeah DT Ed Oliver, #4 ranked player in the class. Huge signing for UH. But Cleaveland I think would've really put us over the top. Having a threat like that for Ward to throw to, and then Kyle Allen stepping in as QB the following season would've been great.
