Picked Utah in my bowl pool and they somehow almost blew a 35-point first quarter lead. Ain't bowl season grand?
No games today. WKU vs USF tomorrow.

Been without internet access for a few days. 5 for 5 on Yahoo YEEEEEEEEEEAH
...too bad three of those games were for 3, 2, and 1 confidence points.
Honestly don't really even see anything in Bertram's post history that looks ban-worthy, even with the really low ban-worthy bar GAF has a lot of the time. I mean, Gondo's ban was BS, but at least you know why it happened (the target of his post, not really the content). Bertram's history looks pretty harmless overall.

By BertramCooper Go To PostHas mre peeked his head over here yet? I get the sense that he's become pretty disenchanted with GAF lately, too.He goes by erm over here. His last post was back on October 4th (page 4), though, which was right around when he was saying on GAF that he'd be going away for a while.
I shot him an email. We'll see if he makes his way around eventually.
Looks like Robert Nkemdiche won't be playing against us in the Sugar Bowl. Still don't like our chances unless Rudolph is healthy, and even then it feels like more of a toss-up.

Just to reiterate, I haven't been permabanned. I got a two-month ban, but it was as good as time as any to call it quits. Permanently.
I got banned for a combination of two things, I suspect:
-Calling ErasureAcer a "dumb ass," which I will never apologize or show any remorse for because he's an absolutely dreadful poster and miserable person
-I referred to ksharp as a "consistently bad poster" in another thread. Absolutely nothing more than that. He then sent me two private messages, threatening to "report" me to a mod. I responded to both posts with, "Don't care." But I suspect, given the quip by the mod about me supposedly having "a history of being a jerk," that ksharp's "reporting" of me did in fact lead to my ban.
So really, GAF, if you want to keep ksharp and ErasureAcer and lose me, hey, that's totally fine.
If all it takes to catch a perm is calling EviLore out for not abiding by his own ToS then that isn't a place I want to give ad revenue to anyways.
He really told on himself in that thread. That topic really seems to coalesce all the nasty Islamophobic, New Atheist pompous tech nerd vitriol.
Oh well. We've got some Western Kentucky football to discuss!

Thankfully I only need to win 2 more picks (out of 9 possible) in my office pool to guarantee that I won't finish last and have to pay another $50.
What a throw by the USF QB. 4th and 10 and threw on the run right by 2 defenders to a WR on the sideline.
Quite the lineup today:
Akron vs. Utah State (Famous Idaho Potato Bowl): 3:30 EST on ESPN
Temple vs. Toledo (Marmot Boca Raton Bowl) (this is actually a good matchup): 7:00 EST on ESPN

Haven't been able to watch any football at all yet this bowl season. Vacation starts today, though, so hopefully I'll be able to get some in soon.

By KingGondo Go To PostOklahoma has signed Aggy transfer Kyler Murray.5 10+ wins season in the last 6 seasons. They were never really gone.
God dammit OU's back aren't they.
By Monroeski Go To Post5 10+ wins season in the last 6 seasons. They were never really gone. They had seemed to drop off a bit from their 2008 peak though. They used to almost never lose in Norman, and they lost 3 times at home last year. They got smoked in their bowl game.
Give Stoops credit. Sucks to live in Oklahoma as an OSU fan when OU is really good though.

By CRUD Go To PostJust turned the game on. Nothing else to do at work. This should be the official motto of every non New Year's bowl.
With that hilarious Duke win I'm 5-0 so far in bowl season pick em.
Damn. Wish I had entered my office bowl pool. I'd have a pretty good shot at a couple hundred bucks.

By CRUD Go To PostTulsa VA Tech game is kinda good so far.Tulsa might have the best receiving corps in the state and that's saying something.
And VT has to punt!
Tulsa was down 45-21 and has a chance to tie or win on this drive. Only down 55-52.

5-7 Nebraska pushing UCLA around. Looking dominant right now.
The Pac-12 has been so disappointing this year.

Still haven't watched much football but I see that I missed on Indiana and UCLA and nearly missed on Virginia Tech today. Here's hoping that my bad luck continues for a little while and I end up missing on my pick for LSU to win as well.

Brutal matchup for your run D.
We got a tough matchup too and I don't know if we have much of a chance with Walsh.
By KingGondo Go To PostThat's gonna be tough sledding unless Tech gets an early lead IMO. Brutal matchup for your run D.They'll have a billion rushing yards, yes, but it's not like they're going to do anything we haven't already seen this year a few times. What are they going to do to us that, say, Texas didn't already do in a game we won? Our run defense got shredded a lot this year, but against run first/only teams we generally managed enough stops to be victorious. Texas' 403 rushing yards were backed up by only 64 passing yards and we squeaked out a win. The UTEP game was well on its way to being a Texas-like game with their VERY underrated IMO RB Aaron Jones running all over us early until he got hurt; we couldn't stop him at all, but we were still leading the whole way. WVU's 300 rushing yards were backed up by only 149 passing yards and we lost only because our offense had their lowest point output of the entire season. The hardest part is when opposing top notch run games are backed up by solid/great passing games, like OU or Baylor, when we can manage stops on a few plays but then get torched through the air, and in those games we were basically out of contention by the first or second quarter.
We got a tough matchup too and I don't know if we have much of a chance with Walsh.
I picked LSU to win with high confidence points, don't get me wrong here, but I'm more concerned with what our outside WRs are going to do in that game than what Fournette is going to do, because worrying about Fournette getting a ton of yards is like worrying about whether or not the sun will come up. I'd probably say I'm more worried about their QB and WRs waking up and playing to their talent level for once than I am worried about Fournette. They'll score 40+ on us, we just have to score more, and keep their scoring from getting out of hand early like a top passing attack would do.
Good Pristine-level breakdown. ;)
Apparently Rudolph looks fine and isn't using a boot. I'll go from interested to excited if he's healthy.

The lofty expectations seemed to rely in large part on the assumed resurgence of programs like USC and UCLA, which always struck me as a pretty big stretch.

Don't think Helton or Mora are the guys to get it done.
Arguably no team underachieved more than UCLA this year.
