I don't know if the shooter knew one of them or if it was a random shooter but jesus what a horrible way to die
A still of the shooter.

Damn, he worked in Tallahassee before. Here's a news article about when he had originally joined WDBJ.. insane to think what he'd go on to do:

People already putting the wrong person's image out there as the shooter. Why get facts right when we can put out lies first!
And another American celebrity is born. His fifteen minutes will likely be up before the next hopeful social media influenced superstar can execute his plot for public retribution.

Also the local news here played the footage a couple times before I guess someone was just like "why is that even necessary?" Gonna start calling this stuff Tragedy Porn.

I watched it. I think I can offer some insight into the feeling. It is thrilling and I fear that this is the primary motivator for the rubbernecking. I mostly felt disgusted and enraged and could have easily been in tears minutes later had I let myself. Whether or not it's ethical for the video to be circulated or watched I can't say. It's something that will always be with me.
What can we do? This kind of horror is a logical extension of our violent illness combined with the vain access of social media and cameras. We have to accept that a culture that celebrates firearms, hatred and conflict, celebrates a lack of education and social infrastructure, and has an obsession with broadcasting itself online would lead us to such shocking footage. Something tells me we will be okay with it too.

A selfie video of the shooting is ....well, I've said it before, but I'm gonna be disappointed with myself if I don't leave the country. There's just too many glaring issues on display in this one incident that I don't think will ever be fixed in my lifetime.

Why someone would do this. My mind can't comprehend.
And he films and posts it too. Absolutely ridiculous.
Rip to the victims.

I'm not watching the video. He apparently sent a suicide note to ABC news as well. Feel its a mental health and gun control problem, but that's not to excuse the individual's act at all.

Yeah I don't want to live somewhere where the majority of population says "aww gee whiz, it's a real shame that people keep dying from gun violence but there's just nothing we can do!"
I can carry two other passports, somewhere in the EU or Australia/NZ has to be better than this.
By blackace Go To Postjust gotta ask do people think violent crimes are up or down in the us over the past 40 years?they're way down actually

I don't know if there should be a "shooting" thread and didn't want to flood the forum with them, so I'll post this here. A guy filmed police shooting a guy who had his hands up. The cops say he beat a woman and a child and other stuff, but, honestly, I have no faith in police anymore. My job has me in contact with lots or organizations that work with battered women/children, but those people need to be tried and locked up, not executed by cops on the streets.
You can literally see him with his hands up for like 2 seconds or so before he gets shot
