I think the takeaway here is that you've got a very strange definition of "impressive"
Nothing inherently noteworthy about a demagogue going on a racist diatribe cloaked in "non-PC" disclaimers.

Artie Lange made a joke on Fallon the other night about how everything Trump says makes him sound like he's drunk.
"I'LL BUILD A WALL AROUND MEXICO!"
Who's gonna pay for that?
"THE KING OF MEXICO. THEY GOTTA KING."
Perhaps if Bush's appeal over Gore was a feigned geniality that made people feel like they could sit down and have a beer with him, Trump's appeal over all the saner options is that he's the sort of man you'd do a kegstand with, screaming encouragement, then ranting afterwards in an inebriated stupor.

With all due respect, I disagree. Trust is an inherent part of the kegstand, some might say the most important. Trust in someone to hold you steady and know when to put you down. It requires the sort of phalanx-esque camaraderie that you don't expect out of a smug, slick-tongued plutocrat. In short, Trump is not a bro. Not really.
The appeal of Donald Trump is that he's wealthier than you, so of course he's smarter and better than you. He's rich, so obviously he knows how to help us all get richer, right? But he's just populist enough in his mannerisms and glib gab to make himself more accessible to the public than your average magnate. Also he was on television a lot.

He's destroying the Republican party and shitting on the other candidates, who I hate, so there is that.
I mean, when your enemies are busy wrecking each other why get in the way?
If I thought Trump had any real chance of becoming President I'd be terrified but the demographics make that impossible. I hope he gets nominated, or barring that, runs as a third party. I don't want him to go anywhere.

I really don't like seeing seeds of hate being planted.. While it might not work for Trump it might work for a different candidate down the line... Turns my stomach to see as many people as there are agreeing with some of his statements...

The white majority is shrinking every year and increasing Democratic dominance among minorities will ensure that neither Trump nor anyone trying to emulate him in the future will become President. The math just isn't there. The days when you could win the Presidency with white voters only are over.
There literally isn't a single ethnic minority group that votes Republican, which is amazing if you think about it.

Every time I think about Trump being president, this is all I can think of. And I dare anyone to disagree.
But honestly, all of the top republican candidates suck. Hilary is batshit loony tunes. And Bernie Sanders wants to give all of my money away.

There's like....multiple reasons why the holocaust couldn't happen today if that's a real fear of yours

Darfur and Rwanda were genocides that happened far more recently than the Holocaust. Then again, both were in Africa.

I meant in the sense of Trump being the second coming of Hitler or whatever your fear of him is.
There's no way Trump is winning the Presidency, let alone having the power to turn the country into a police state that hunts brown people.
By Forever Go To PostWin what? The nomination? Maybe.
The general election? Hellll no. Latinos are allowed to vote you know.
70% of latinos vote democrat by default. The extra 5% of the Latino vote that Trump lost or see him as unfavorable are very likely not important to the success of his campaign and not a dealbreaker for his campaign. Thus the 75% unfavorable statistic against Trump doesn't matter. He didn't have 70% of them to begin with.
Also, let's take a step back with Nazi and Hitler mentions here. Our presidents are still regulated by the checks and balances system. And anyone who thinks a president is simply going to make people pack up and leave forcefully are a bit delusional. The system will likely be put into place to identify illegal immigrants, monitor them, and enroll them into a legalization processing system.
The popular belief is that this system will be used to isolate the criminals from the societal contributors. Working immigrants will be allowed to work, but not claim welfare and other American citizen benefits, but their children will be eligible if they were born on this soil.
On the other hand, violent criminals identified during processing will be deported immediately. American tax dollars should not be spent housing, feeding and rehabilitating criminals from other countries. It's completely backwards and unfair for not just the citizens of this country, but to all holding green cards, legal visas, and naturalized citizens (such as myself) who went through the entire legalization process by the books, broke and fleeing from country that's collapsed.
Lastly, it's also unfair for immigrants on visitors visas to cross the border, give birth here, and claim they can stay, as can their children. That part of the amendment should definitely be updated to reflect childbirth during the time of a visa should be excluded.
It's not just about the percentage of Hispanics that vote R, it's how many come out to vote. I would be shocked to not see a massive turnout of black and Hispanic voters if Trump was on the ticket. He is fucking despised.
Also, electing an anti-immigration president when we need to start allowing at least a million Syrian refugees into our country would be a terrible humanitarian mistake. Germany has taken as many as they can, Sweden and the UK have become obsessed with racism, we need to step up to help the people being butchered by Assad and ISIS. Not sure Hillary will be that person, but Trump certainly won't be.

That's the reality of today's demographics.
Dubya barely won in 2004 by taking 50% of Hispanics at a time when Hispanics were a lower percent of the population; Jeb was hoping to replicate or improve on that performance, which would've given the Republicans their best shot. Again, the math simply is not there for Trump. The numbers don't add up. Not enough conservative white people anymore.
I never said the math was there for him. I don't think he has a chance to win.
But you also can't forget that actual voting numbers don't mean crap. The hispanic population is very scattered across the country. And it always ultimately comes down to electoral votes anyway. We already know Trump will lose the major electoral points in California and New York, which make up for a huge chunk of the latino population.
If Trump can actually grab on to the major swing states and win the traditional red states...the democrats will be shitting their pants. But that's a major 'if'.
Between Hilary and Trump...we're losers and fucked either way.

the funny thing is that those checks and balance started illegal wars... if supported by like-minded people checks and balance don't work that well...
But for the record I didn't say if Trump became president he would for sure become the Hitler.
I said his platform reminded me of Hitler's when he rose to power. Blame another group of people of for the state of the country... paint said group of people of lacking morals therefore they are a threat to country...all he is missing is a false flag fire / bombing / attack
like I said before the Nazi went from Jews are corrupting the German moral fiber to final solutation fast

New Mexico and colorado, while I think NM is pretty solid blue, Colorado is a big swing state. Florida is harder to quantify because of Cubans. Though the younger generation doesn't vote straight R like the older generation.
Lol at us losing with both Hillary or Trump.

Hillary is left enough on feminism, LGBT right, and climate change and right enough on the economy for me to definitely support. She's not my ideal candidate (she likes war and I dislike her idea of "making college free"), but she's good enough and a lot better than Trump, and Jeb! and the other dudes.

I don't think Hillary is a very nice person but I don't think Republicans deserve to deal with a very nice person. They had their chance to be civil when we elected Obama. I say give 'em Hill.
Hillary's hatred of Republicans is well known. She'll be vicious behind the scenes.

Third parties I like in general, but then the third party turns out to be UKIP or the Golden Dawn and that's less cool.
If we had more than two parties, Trump's Sweden Democrats esque party would get a decent bit of Senate and House seats and that would be bad. Many independents are just looking for a strong welfare party that is extremely racist and anti-immigrant and I don't know if that would be great to have in American politics.
Feminism party would be nice, green party would be nice, a splitting of the socially and fiscally conservative parts of the GOP would be nice, but the U.S. not having a national socialist third-party is a positive.

If we had a multi-party system, someone like Trump might have a better chance of being elected, actually.
There's no feminism worth a while that's compatible with corporate rule. It does not make more sense to believe the market will solve the issue of global warming, when it is currently destroying it.
Only rich selfish people believe education should be a privilege and not a right. The cost of education is segregation under another name, through class distinctions.

Governments subsidizing colleges leads to colleges charging more money since, guess what, colleges look to rip off people too, like everyone else. Subsidizing college is also a massive subsidy to the upper middle class since the poor can't afford the opportunity costs of college regardless of how much the price is. MOOCs bringing down college costs through massively amounts more of competition is a much better idea than the government paying colleges more and colleges ripping off taxpayers more.
Subsidizing college is a subsidy to the well-off so yeah, no.
We need massive increases in land taxes and EITC to help the poor, not to give more money to institutions that have preyed on teenagers through massive price increases for decades.
You're not stopping Trump with a 2 parties system. Do you think he's less influential or the ideas he carries are less potent than say, Le Pen or UKIP? It's pretty much the same situation.
Who's talking about three parties BTW? Three is still in no way representative of the vast rich political imagination today. Presidential elections here fluctuate between 9 and 17 candidates... and I would argue it is not close to being representative still.

By reilo Go To PostWhy subsidize colleges? Subsidize the student.
The big thing with "make colleges free" though is:
College charges X dollars.
State gives students X dollars to attend college for free (not counting opportunity costs)
College charges X*Y dollars because they know the state will give the students more money.
State gives students X*Y dollars
So a subsidy to a student becomes extra money for the college if you base the idea on making college "free". The cost of college to students is way too high and the best fix are policies that massively reduce the cost of college, not college subsidies.
