I am losing so much money.

The stock market has some volatility to it.
Thankfully, I don't have to touch this money for over 40 years, but losing a thousand dollars can sting a little bit.

I have a 401K, but other than that, I don't touch the stock market. I just don't trust that kind of thing in general.
By dark_prinny Go To PostLesson number one: Never invest your money in the stock market.Uhm, practically impossible in the US. Pretty much every pre-tax contribution offered by employers nowadays are 401ks.
Probably 95% of wealthy people have huge chunks of their money in the stock market.
Being a day trader is hard. But buying and holding good companies, or heck, even shares of the major indexes will always beat inflation in practically any 10, 20, 30 year slice of time.
Just dollar cost average the shit out of this if you think your holdings are strong companies.
And if u want the more speculative haul, FanDuel and DraftKings should be going public over the next year or so.

I feel the same way when my dogecoin shares drop by 10 cents. Speaking of dogecoin, PLEASE LET THIS HIT $50 per 1000 so I CAN RETIRE. If this hits 100 I'm disappearing dammit.

This is the worst lesson I've heard in a few months.
If this is your retirement you should be happy your next paycheck distribution will go towards buying low.

By reilo Go To PostYou're assuming that he's lost more than he's gained, despite today's events. And the market has mostly rallied.
Best advice ever is to not sell when the entire market is going down unless you're really old and desperate.
IMWTB is like 22 or so? Don't even pay attention, TBH.

The stockmarket is the long term game. Not the short term game. You play it for the 20 / 30 year pay off. Not the 3 or 4 year.

I usually don't pay attention, I'm just joking around because of the DOOM. The money is staying in there for 40+ years, lol.
Anyway, DOW up 620 points today, thanks Obama (Scott Walker should be forbidden to speak)
