as a northern californian with a background in ecology, this is really exciting and cool. been expecting something like this since OR-7 was roaming our backyard (literally!) a few years ago. bring on the re-wilding of north america.

I hear we used to have mammoths here so it's not a stretch. Wonder why they died out and not became elephants like in Africa...

yeah, i read a book on how rewilding efforts really shouldnt try to renew north america to pre columbus days, but pre human days, and introducing elephants would be as close as we could get to the ecological niche that the mammoths provided. a little tongue in check, but a cool idea to entertain at least.

back on topic, i cant wait to hear wolves howling from my back deck in nor nor cal!
