University of Alabama Sorority removes recruitment video featuring nothing but white girls

That had to be some record for density of thin, 5'6", white, blonde girls in a video.

Watched it on mute and the message I walked away with is black ball players can have harems full of white women. But, like, we knew that already.

This effective recruitment video worked on me.

While it is easy to fall into this line of thinking, I just want to call out that in my experience working in corporate, the more attractive the woman, the better and harder they worked because they had to put in the extra effort to be taken seriously, precisely because of attitudes like this. I don't think either of you are wrong, but both of you are talking about different things here I feel.

Wasn't that a video for the sorority itself and not necessarily for the University of Alabama? If they want to show a video to a bunch of other pretty white girls that their sorority is the place to meet your future sisters, then that's whatever. When kids go to college they want to find that brotherhood/sisterhood. I don't get the impression that this is a sorority for any educational reason (like a business school frat), it's more just for fun.

With that being said, it IS a glorified mega-expensive social club for white girls. But I wasn't expecting them to advertise anything else.

You're pretty spot on with the "pretty girls have to work harder to be taken seriously" ... like I have a friend who models and is also a really great violinist and I've heard comments through the years from my peers "You can't be beautiful and that good!" lol what

"Basketball? What's that?" - every person in alabama.

I don't think any sorority is obligated to paint their house as some beacon of institutional higher learning that is directly reflective on or of the University. This is a marketing tool for their clubhouse. That's it. If they want to be known as the hot skinny white girl clique that has fun when not in class then that's their prerogative to do so. Seems like an appealing choice if you fit their very obvious criteria.

And besides, everyone knows that you can't fall behind the other houses during this time of year. You just can't. Those Alpha Omega bitches are looking tighter and tighter Amber. Try being more like Molly, or Heather, and less like Amber, Amber. God, I just can't...
