Favourite Actors/Actresses and their Roles

God, too many. Recent favourites though are:

Oscar Isaac - who I first noticed being the only good thing in Ridley Scott's version of Robin Hood back in 2010. Succession of good roles followed before Inside Llewyn Davis, and he's been fantastic in everything since. Gonna be huge next year; HBO show, Star Wars and X-Men.

Brian Cox - phenomenal actor who lends gravitas to everything, from films like L.I.E. and Manhunter to blockbusters like X2 and the Bourne films. Also fucking class on stage; great Lear if you can track that down.

Ben Mendelsohn - Animal Kingdom, Starred Up and Killing Them Softly are three distinct and fantastic performances, and Bloodline was worth watching purely for him.

Jack Nicholson: The Shining, Chinatwon, One flew over the cuckoo's nest
Kurt Rusell: Everything.

Dog Day Afternoon is Pacino's best performance.

Would put The King Of Comedy forward as my favourite De Niro as well; probably wouldn't say best because Raging Bull is some next level madness, but my favourite.

When I was a late teenager, I would always say Dustin Hoffman in Death of a Salesman. Still the first that comes to mind.

Eva Green, let's say for Cracks, but really I love her every time. Still have to watch Penny Dreadful.

Branagh as Henry, Benedick, Hamlet.

Especially the first two. Absolutely peerless.

Off topic, but I recently had a "wtf, that was the same actor" moment when I found out Robin Wright was the Princess Bride, Jenny (Forrest Gump) and Claire Underwood (HoC).

Tom Hardy: The Drop, Bronson, Locke.
Jessica Chastain: A Most Violent Year, Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty.

Barbara Stanwyck: Double Indemnity; Lady Eve; Sorry Wrong Number; Meet John Doe.

Tommy Lee Jones: The Fugitive; Natural Born Killers; The Client.

Bruce Willis: Die Hard; Pulp Fiction; Blind Date; 12 Monkey's; Sixth Sense.

Also, really like Bogart, Streep, James McAvoy and Brad Pitt.

Not naming names that have been named.

Leonardo Di Caprio - The Departed, Catch Me if You Can, Shutter Island, Man in the Iron Mask, The Aviator, Gangs Of New York, Django, Woolf of Wall Street, Body of Lies.

Brad Pritt (Criminally under-rated IMO) - Seven, Fight Club, Snatch, Spy Game, Inglorious Bastards

Daniel Day Lews - self explanotry.

Theres more but those our my fav

Stanwyck is extraordinary in Double Indemnity.

And yeah, Pitt is underrated.

Fanny Ardant and Tony Leung get a mention.

You mean because they're both french? Well yeah, Green is nowhere near the pantheon of french cinema, she's too young, so that's not even a discussion... You're right, Ardant is great.

Guy Pierce - Ed Exley in LA Confidential

I fan boy up for most of his movies to be honest. Memento and Ravenous were too good.

Brad Pitt is a good actor, not great. Not bad either, by any stretch. But his filmography can be compared to anyone.

Seven, fight club, snatch, oceans 11 series, 12 monkeys, interview with a vampire, moneyball, 12 years a slave, Fury, Inglorious Basterds, the assassination of Jesse James, meet joe black, seven years in Tibet

too many good to great movies to count.

Also,

Gary Oldman and Kevin Spacey in literally everything. The Usual Suspects is one of my top 10 favorite movies ever, as is the dark knight trilogy.
