The Pacers were one win away from the Finals last year and were absolutely wrecking the league those first few months into the season. PG looked like he was taking the no.2 spot from Durant and was the MVP leader. Lance looked amazing and was pulling off some crazy move every week. Hibbert was the absolute lock for DPOY. Heat Age was shitting themselves.
but then the bball gods fixed everything for the better :)

Agree. Miami failing in the Finals was much better than seeing San Antonio toy with fuckball.
I just didn't think that last off-season even if you thought the Pacers would dethrone Miami (Which many believed and is understandable), that they could go and then beat the Spurs or Thunder
East is wiiiiiiide open next year though

5 straight finals.
Couldn't care less about 5 straight finals if we're going to lose to a hungrier teamI just didn't think that last off-season even if you thought the Pacers would dethrone Miami (Which many believed and is understandable), that they could go and then beat the Spurs or ThunderHopefully Melo goes to Houston or some other Western team. We already know the Spurs will be the Spurs. But the Thunder and Clippers will also get better. Miami can't afford to dip in talent
Although I would much rather lose in the finals than get bounced out by fuckball

I disagree. Unless the Bulls somehow get Melo without giving up an arm and a leg, the Heat are going to the ECF guaranteed. If the Pacers play offense-- actual offense, they may have a chance at knocking off the Heat, but I don't think any other Eastern team can compete with the Heat.
i think phee phee meant if the heat are disbanded.East is wiiiiiiide open next year though

What was the worst crowd-related moment of the 2014 Finals?
Miami fans hightailing it out of the Game 4 blowout over sticking around and showing their respect and cheering LeBron, Bosh and Wade for four great years. They’ll feel bad if that turned out to be their last home game. (Thinking.) You’re right, they won’t feel bad.

My favorite because it shits on the Rockets:
• The following players were picked ahead of Leonard: Jan Vesely, Bismack Biyombo, Jimmer Fredette, Alec Burks and both Morris twins. Of that group, my favorite miss is Vesely — and not just because it was immediately revealed that he was horrible at basketball. During Kawhi’s rookie season, Washington used Rashard Lewis, Maurice Evans, Cartier Martin and Chris Singleton as their small forwards.
• After Utah took Burks at no. 12, I wrote in my Draft Diary, “How has Kawhi Leonard not been taken yet? What am I missing?”4
• Indiana took Leonard 15th. You know who had the 14th pick? Dork Elvis! That’s right, the darling of the advanced-metrics and common-sense communities took the Poor Man’s Morris Twin one pick ahead of Kawhi Freaking Leonard. Cancel the Sloan Conference right now! Just cancel it!
And of course this:
(Note to any Knicks fan: Please, for your own sanity, stop typing the “What about us?” email, delete it, and stare at your computer screen in silence for a few seconds until you crash back to reality. Thanks.)
AND THIS:
When you include Kawhi Leonard’s rookie salary ($1.9 million), the Spurs suddenly had a legitimate competitive advantage. Their best four players earned $32.3 million combined last season … nearly $8 million less than Joe Johnson and Deron Williams, and only $1.85 million more than Kobe Bryant made by himself. That’s insane.
As much as it pains me to say, I've actually warmed up to Simmons.
His grantland articles always seem to be great as of late and he has seemingly dropped his Celtic/East Coast schtick. He is a bit of a pompous clown but I think his commentary is mostly level headed and sincere. He's just a basketball nerd, I can respect that.
