Can someone change the shitty ass thread title? It's so bland. What is this crap? ESPN? An NBA commercial?
Change it to:
|OT| NBA Payoffs Coming to an End, So Are Knees, Careers and Egos
|OT| Silver is the 2nd best currency. Ballmer Dollars Supreme
|OT| Stephenson Blows Wade's Knees Out, Pays Flop Fine
|OT| Best vs Least
…It'll be changed as soon as someone suggests a better one.
Better than the generic shit this one is named. Seriously, just change it to the alphabet or something.
NBA Finals |OT| LET'S GO HEAT
NBA Finals |OT| Beasley and Oden > Durant
NBA Finals |OT| Man vs Beasley
i reaaaaallly want to win game 1, don't care about game 2. internet/radio/tv is unbearable when miami loses the first game.

I need to remind myself to not panic should we fall down 0-2 lol. It'd be hard as fucking hell to recover at that point but I don't rule anything out

that is super panic worthy
We need to win one of the first two.
|OT| Finals Appearances: Oden (1), Durant (1)If you fuckers did the right thing and picked Durant, the FThunder would've been much farther down the inevitable road to irrelevance and contraction by now.
Watching last year's Finals……
I'm not ready for this shit.
If god could guarantee me that we'd win in 7 I would take that over winning in 4
Actually naaaah fuck that sweep them...............lol
I thoroughly enjoyed that time you lost the Finals on your own homecourt.
Pretty insane that for all the athleticism on the Thunder, "Old Man Riverwalk" put the team on his back during OT.
Looking forward to those low post possessions to be added to some Tim Duncan highlight reels.
As I said on my FB, not a single game mattered to us until now. Hyperbole, OFC, but anything less than getting back to the finals and WINNING is a failed season. Parker already said he's gonna retire after playing for France in the next Olympics and Duncan and Ginobili are already overdue.
Lebron is young and can still win more 'ships (especially if he stays in the horrid east).
For us, this is IT.

I can see this being Duncan's last year. I bet if they'd won last year he would have ridden off on his white horse, but the way they lost was so brutal, amends had be made.

Oh, i dunno. I can see TP accepting a max from NY and fucking his way through all the models in NY while seeing less court time than eddy curry.
lol. TD loves basketball way to much to walk away without defending his title. He's gonna ride out his contract next year at the very least.
I'm trying not to get excited at the prospect of this team that broke basketball going 2-2 in the finals. Not bad, but not great either.
i fucking cant put any hope in the Spurs though after the way they let me down last summer though...that shit was just..
Can yall imagine what we'd be facing if based Dirk (our lord and savior) didn't deliver us from evil?
Potentially 4 straigh rings for LeBron, guys
GUYS
Dirk is a top 10 player in my mind for what he did. Nobody can tell me different.

It's an interesting thought experiment though. If Miami didn't get thoroughly embarrassed in 2011 do they get their act together enough to win it all the next two seasons?
Incidentally no matter the result the Miami Big 3 experiment can't be seen as anything other than a rousing success.
Dirk is a top 10 player in my mind for what he did. Nobody can tell me different.I don't really think that's that controversial of an opinion.
Like, top 10 of all time?Dirk is a top 10 player in my mind for what he did. Nobody can tell me different.I don't really think that's that controversial of an opinion.
Wat.
Jordan, Magic, Bird, Jabbar, Russell, Duncan, Kobe, Shaq, Hakim, Wilt, Oscar Robertson...
That's 11 without even trying (in no particular order and I'm sure I'm forgetting some pretty big names here).
Like, you got him over the Dr J. and Isiah Thomas of the world?
He's a nice player, hall of famer for sure, but let's not get crazy here.
Oscar Robertson won two playoff series in his career without Kareem. He missed the playoffs three straight years in his prime with an all-pro teammate despite playing in an era where almost every team made the playoffs and everyone other than Russell and Wilt was terrible at basketball. Putting Oscar top 10 of all time makes less sense than putting CP3 top ten of all time.
Dirk is definitely one of the best playoff scorers and best floor spacers in NBA history, top ten for him definitely could be seen if you view Dirk's defense as average and Kobe-level.
Mine might go:
1. Jordan
2. Russell
3. Duncan
4. LeBron
5. Kareem
6. Magic
7. Hakeem
8. Shaq
9. Bird
10. KG
11. Wilt
12. Dirk
But it's close...

Will not take the bait....
Seriously though, Spurs win this series. Duncan supplants Kobe for the time being. (I think Kobe will play until he's 40 to get another chip if that's the case though)
Lebron goes 2/5 in the Finals and is back in the top 9-11 range of all time great NBA careers. If he wins, and goes 3/5 with 3 Finals MVP's then he's top 5-7 range.

I'm proud of you.
I love Duncan but I can't put him over Kobe without another ring. It's a complete no brainer if he gets it though.
My Dirk love is pretty irrational I'll admit. Lets be real though, the guy has two rings.

At some point, Dirk's longevity and consistency will help him leapfrog Oscar/Dr.J/Isiah. He's been the best player on a 50 win team for 14 years. He had 4 years of All-NBA Nash and the next best player he played with is... Jason Terry?
I mean, Isiah had what, 8 elite years?
Duncan over Kobe is already a no brainer.
Ducan gets chips when Kobe's injured or his team's in rebuilding mode. 05, 07, 13, 14 . Common denominator?
If Lakers kept Phil for 15 years (Like Pop) and didn't go through 2 rebuilding phases Duncan would have 2 chips.
What you meant to say was R.C. Buford > Mitch.
Will not take the bait….
Wow. Slow clap.
See this is what happens when you get free of the shackles of that other place.
Edit: Ah shit I spoke too soon. dIEHARD what have you done???
Duncan over Kobe is already a no brainer.
Not in my mind.
The lack of post season success from 2007-2008 until last year is the big reason why I say that. And the shit that happened last summer...And I love Tim...but no, just no, you don't allow yourself to be taken out of the game in such a crucial spot. Kobe would have died before he'd have let that happen. A little more assertiveness from Tim last year and he'd be looking at trying to repeat this year.
Kobe gets chips when he is the beta.but but y'all told me kobe was the beta the threepeat run though
What could possibly be learned about Duncan and LeBron in this series that would change how good they are as players?
Duncan's played forever, so has LeBron. We know all of their strengths and weaknesses and the magnitude of those strengths and weaknesses at this point. The only future thing that should change how LeBron is viewed is if he has enough longevity to break a ton of statistical records.
Also, if LeBron has two more great years, he will probably be #1 all time in playoff win shares despite only being 31, just fucking insane.

I agree, but Tim's deference to his coach is what distinguishes him from other GOATS.
that one is square on the coach
LeBron made all-defense second team over Taj Gibson, lol. The Bulls must have campaigned hard for that. They save $250k with Gibson missing the all-defense team.

Confirms what I've always thought about you, you think NBA Players play for the advanced stats championships.
Lebron as a player, is already a top 3 all time player. His complete skill set, defensive dominance playing the 1-4, and athleticism push him past practically everyone who's ever played the game. He may even be the game's greatest athlete ever although the stories I've read about Wilt make me feel like it's Wilt hands down.
But that's why I said "career". NBA Players aren't judged solely on their individual capabilities, they're judged on careers/accomplishments.
The list of people who have 2 finals MVP's or more: West, Hakeem, TD, Shaq, Jordan, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Lebron, and you should also add Russell and Mikan to that list even though they didn't give the award out then. That's 12 players who've got 2 or more finals MVP's. 9 of whom have more than 2 chips total. And that's not including Wilt.
So if you're talking career. Going 2/5 with 2 Finals MVP's doesn't warrant a top 5-7 ranking when more than 10 people have done better. Of course he's not done yet, so he may very well end up as the best of all time, but for now, if he loses. He's top 9-11.
In what world did Andre Iguodala have a better defensive season than Kawhi Leonard. Let alone 63 voting points better..
I'm not even going to bother arguing Duncan's defensive credentials, because I'm sadly used to it, but I figured Kawhi would get some respect, since everyone hypes him up so much.

a.) Golden State was a top 5 defense that featured David Lee and Steph Curry. Iggy deserves the award, full stop.
b.) Iggy's in as a guard. George and Ibaka got in over Kawhi.
Man, somewhere else on the internet i tried to have an argument about selfish players and how the lebron hate is (mostly) unjustified but i made the mistake of using Kobe as a comparison. I should've just put my nuts in a grinder instead.
Yeah, cause that team wasn't anchored by Bogut or anything.....In what world did Andre Iguodala have a better defensive season than Kawhi Leonard. Let alone 63 voting points better..

Iggy played a ton of half assed D this year. Along with Missing 19 games.
It's really insane that Shawn Marion has never made an all-NBA team.
His defense in the 2011 playoffs was really underrated.

Comparing ANYONE to Lebron is a bad idea. He's the best playmaking/passing non-PG ever.
Kobe essentially has the same Assist % as Bird and Jordan ~ 24% so calling him selfish is a stretch if you use any other relevant comparison - Lebron is hardly the norm
