True enough, but going to Bournemouth and winning on the first day is a decent achievement. I honestly find it hard to judge Villa because I know so little about most of their team now.

Found him almost unwatchable because of how annoying the voice is :lol, but he is great in it. Can't think of a bad performance by him, honestly. Can list 10/15 off the top of my head he's just wonderful in.

How often did we expect Man Utd to hammer someone last season, and how often did it actually happen? Wouldn't just assume that they'll be battering anyone away from home until they can start consistently functioning as a proper unit. Obviously too early to say for sure either way, but the signs against Spurs weren't exactly promising in that regard.
Exact same reason I'd be absolutely delighted with a spawny 1-0 on Monday. While the performances aren't there, its much better to just go for the compact defense and scraped wins. Hopefully we can do better than that, but we looked on Sunday like a team that will take a while to gel (again). Same for Man Utd.

I don't think there's going to be many instances where we just fuck people up. There was around 4 or 5 games last season out of 40 where I was happy with our performance. As long as we keep fitting square pegs in round holes and trying to make sense of the system, it's not going to click. Just hope sheer quality of players brute forces results.

He has so many smallish parts in movies and makes you remember those parts. Boogie Nights, Along Came Polly, Talented Mr. Ripley etc.

Think both were excellent performances; Jones is too often brilliant and underseen.
I really like The Savages; just the right amount of pathos and schlubbiness. Best work is probably The Master though. Force of nature in that film. And Phoenix is even better.
I think Joaquin Phoenix in The Master is one of the best performances of all time.

Inherent Vice seemed like it could have been a pretty interesting film, but it was really let down by being completely incomprehensible.
Not, as you may think, because the plotting was at all difficult or anything like that. It was incomprehensible because I couldn't hear a fucking word of the dialogue. Most of the characters were speaking in mumbling tones and it was absurdly quiet. Did no one watch the film beforehand and think "We probably ought to make things a bit louder"?
