By n8 Go To PostYeah, solid result. Like I said, any points you win at Stoke are good points. Going back to a place where you got eviscerated at the end of last season and winning is always good for morale.
Think Lallana is powder puff, but Firmino-Coutinho-Benteke is a good, balanced front three. Ibe extremely raw but will come good. Milner already better than Gerrard. Gomez and Clyne immediate improvement over what came before (and there will be games Moreno will thrive in as well). Positive stuff for you lot, I reckon.
Thx n8, agreed with the first bit — Lallana is bench quality not a starter. Don't feel so positive after the way we labored for so long with so few chances created, but with all the tough games ahead to come, 3 points feel good.
By Mastadon Go To PostI really want to like Lallana, but he's pony. Holds on the ball forever and doesn't seem to make any decent runs. Firmino looked really bright. Bit rusty like, but you can tell that he'll be a handful.
Lallana's got a fucking weird run as well, like he's permanently hopping over bales of hay.
By Woodenlung Go To PostThat arsenal fan reaction shit has become so fucking dull ever since they realized people only watched to laugh at them, just like Barzul, Bakka and Wedward when they became selfaware.I can't breathe.
By Killer7 Go To PostMeh.You reeled them in...
Liverpool looked poor. Don't think they have enough for top 4.
...and got the bites.
We both looked shite in the main. Not a huge gap between Spurs at home and Stoke away imo
Can't we have had equally good weekends?

By LTWheels Go To PostSturridge is suppose to be back in September.
Interesting to see how we fit him in as well.
I'd play him on the right where Ibe was today and let him cut in. Benteke may not score oodles of goals this season but he's a lovely focal point to have; draws defender's attention and with movers like Firmino/Coutinho behind him, they'll cause a lot of trouble.
Very happy with Lovren btw
Wasn't great and threw a very naughty elbow in, but he didn't look like fucking everything up when within 30 yards of the ball as I'm accustomed to.

Only problem is that it will require Sturridge to track back a lot, unless we are dominating the match.

Think he looked far more comfortable than Skrtel did.
By n8 Go To PostWell, we looked poor too lad.Playing against Spurs who are also going for 4th. We'll be alright.

He was fine, Skrtel looked far shakier.

In the majority of your home games, it would be fine (or two up top in a diamond); but that's what the squad's for innit. Sturridge can't realistically expect to play every game with his injuries.
So I open up Kicker, "Arsenal lose after Cech mistake"
Sorry m8s but that's just fucking hilarious
Bring back Szcesny

By Kikarian Go To PostCoutinho will be off anyway at the end of the season.
Ibe will be world class by then, it's fine. The cycle m8.
By n8 Go To PostThink he looked far more comfortable than Skrtel did.
Skrtel put in some important blocks but also some moments of inspiring stupidity. Migs had to charge out to clear like three of his under-hit back passes.
By n8 Go To Postfixed
To be fair, the first one was not really completely on him. Monreal just completely refused to track his man and it was either go for the ball or let him have a free header for Cech. Of course he did end up with a free header anyway, but at least he tried to get there first.
By LTWheels Go To PostSturridge is suppose to be back in September.Would be shocked to see him before November. Certainly won't be anywhere close to match fit before then.

By Mastadon Go To PostDat first game of the season analysis :lolSome people make predictions before a ball is even kicked. At least I waited 90 mins :P
Looked no worse than you.
Do think you looked better with Firmino on, just feel that something is missing. (Even with us tbf).
Winning away at Stoke > Clanking a win at home vs Spurs with an own goal > Tying at home vs Swansea > Losing 2 - nill at home vs West Ham
City will have to win by at least 2 tomorrow to top this. Maybe 3.

Aye true. Honestly, Bob and Phil have barely had a preseason, plus a different type of striker up front than we're used to. Gonna take a few games to get a real idea of where we're at.
based on today we will be fighting against Sunderland and Bournemouth in a heated relegation battle
bring it on

We're not exactly going for 4th

Gonna take a few games to get a real idea of where we're at.Remember some of you guys saying you'll need to adapt your game to fit Benteke which may be true. Thought the back 4 looked alright. Did give up a few chances (which you would) and that Gomez lad will need more time imo. Better teams will target him.
When Sturridge is back, you think it'll change to a 442?
------- Milner -- Hend ------
Firmino ---------------- Cout
----- Studdge - Benteke---

5th is fine considering the investment relative to other clubs.
I will be happy with 5th

If you spend £100m you expect to be challenging for the league.
Reece Oxford? Looked good eh? I love those fairy tale stories. Off to City by the end of the season then.
lallana needs to release the ball sooner, its a really obvious flaw in his play. he's not incisive enough for such a crucial position. when everyone is ticking he is fine but ATM he's a luxury that we can't afford to be starting
By GQman2121 Go To PostThis is as bad as Willian not getting back on the Gomis run yesterday.Essentially 2 players marking 5 at that point
By GQman2121 Go To PostWould be shocked to see him before November. Certainly won't be anywhere close to match fit before then. He's back training now, has been for a week or two, so September sounds right. Supposedly his surgery was to correct whatever underlying injury was causing him to break down over and over again but we'll see.
Saw on twitter that Flanno expects to be back by December, wonder how he'll shape up with 18 months without football. Love this sentence from his wiki page and the fact that it's real:
Flanagan has earned numerous plaudits for his style of play since his breakthrough into the Liverpool first team in November 2013; most notably, the World Cup-winning former Brazil captain and full-back Cafu heralded Flanagan as his "successor", applauding his "speed, strength and determination".[4]
