Manchester City are looking to beat Tottenham and Newcastle and bring Saido Berahino to the Etihad Stadium, the Sunday People are reporting.

West Brom have already had enquiries from City for the striker and the Premier League runners up have asked to be kept in the loop amid interest from other top flight sides.

All of United's transfers this summer make perfect sense. We needed someone to control the game in the event of a Carrick absence so we bought Schweinsteiger. We needed a disciplined midfielder to cut out attacks and win a midfield battle so Schneiderlin was brought in. Needed a new fullback, whether it be as a Valencia replacement or back up to him, so Darmian came in. Then we needed pace and goals from a forward position so we get Memphis. Now its up to Woodward and Van Gaal to bring in at least one defender. Although Van Gaal's comments mean he wants another forward. That's where you'd begin to wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Ofc there's still a month left before the transfer window closes, but if our top priority is a forward then you'd worry a bit. Like, I know Pedro seems to be close to signing, but that can't be the last signing we make. Would be stupid to go into the new season without a new centre half.

If I were LVG, I'd be trying to sell some of my dozen or so midfielders, try and get a CB upgrade, and sign another striker. This may seem obvious but I haven't actually followed United's movements in the mercato apart from DDG and ADM lolfest.

We've played 4-2-3-1 all pre season (although LVG called it a 4-3-3). It'll be one of Schweinsteiger or Carrick to partner Schneiderlin. The front four will most likely be Young on the left, Mata on the right, Depay playing as the #10 and Rooney up top.
