By Carbonox Go To PostLooking over Newcastle's transfer window so far….A spine of UmBongo, Wijnaldum and Mitrovic is a boost to our existing one but I will not be comfortable without a replacement for Anita (he's so bad), another CB and another striker. Then we need a RB, LB, winger or two. Then sack - not sell - Bigirimana, Ferguson, Gouffran and Williamson. I wouldn't wish either of those 4 on any club by normal transfer means ok.
Dont want much do you
Linked with Jordan Rhodes the day. Rejected £12m by 'Boro... if we're going to spend that much on a Wickham replacement, get Austin.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3181125/Manchester-United-speed-deal-Barcelona-s-Pedro-Angel-di-Maria-s-45m-Paris-Saint-Germain-goes-through.html
Manchester United will press Barcelona to allow Pedro's move to go through in time for the start of the season should Angel di Maria complete the formalities of his switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports in Spain, the Catalan club want the 28-year-old to remain in their ranks until after their European Super Cup clash with Sevilla on August 11.
However, United would like Pedro in their squad for next Saturday's opening-day visit of Tottenham Hotspur if Di Maria, as expected, finalises his move to the French capital this weekend.

This Di Maria deal seems to have been hovering around the exact same point for weeks now. Is he in France right now, when he's supposed to be in Manchester?

Still not sure re: Pedro. Presumably he's been promised game time; enough to leave Barca at least. Does that come at Depay or Mata's expense? Or Young, who - while not a Neymar like LVG said - is playing well enough to ask questions about whether Pedro is a step up.
I'm also worried about starting with both Carrick and Schweinsteiger in midfield. Feel like Schneiderlin will be the glue that holds their ageing limbs together, and against high energy midfielde (like Spurs', ominously), the two will struggle if Morgan isn't in there with one of them.
Similarly, Herrera - who can score goals, links up well with Mata, is intelligent and bright and always looking to go forward - is going to ride the bench a lot.
And I won't even mention our centre backs. Or our keepers. Or that fucking lard cunt at the top.
I'm worried guys. I truly am. I was full of optimism after our signings, but the fear is creeping in.

I don't think that Schneidsteiger+Carrick is going to be a regular occurrence. I think Schwine/carrick will get game time split between them mostly.

Carrick and Scwhein will be our first choice starters. Schneiderlin will have to work hard to become a first choice but i am sure if he is given a run he will deifnitely do it.
I would love to see a Schneiderlin Herrera and Schweini midfield.

We're replacing an absentee winger with one that'll do a good (if not spectacular) job. I really don't think that's the end of our transfer business either. Team's in much better shape than last season already.

CB is a worry but at least they've got better protection at present. And we still have DDG behind them. I'm not too worried about his state of mind either. PSG was a pre-season blip, not a trend.

Hopefully, but they started against PSG together. And they're both favourites of van Gaal's. Would hope you're right, but I can't predict what that mad bastard is up to.

I'd agree. Rather have Jack or Theo on the wing and Santi in the middle.

Laurent Koscielny 7.5
The Frenchman freely admits he is not the most talented player, but he is a tireless worker and strong all-round defender.
Gary Cahill 8
The England defender is a doubt for the match, but for this comparison we are pitting each side’s best players regardless of availability. The 29-year-old has won all the major trophies at Chelsea and is one of the best centre-backs in the game.

Kieran Gibbs 7.5
Constantly vying for a place with Nacho Monreal, but Wenger compared him to Ashley Cole last season and when on form is a slightly more versatile left-back with his added pace.
Cesar Azpilicueta 7
Even though his preferred position is right-back, Azpilicueta was often preferred over the recently departed Filipe Luis last season. He is a solid defender, but not spectacular.

Of course I'll say it has happened whenever he makes the tiniest mistake, but still
Lovren and Skrtel playing in a friendly on Finland tomorrow. Sakho playing against Swindon on Sunday. Which suggests Sakho is third choice. Rodgers pls

Hopefully not. But there's always the possibility. In January he can sign with Madrid, and then might switch off with a move confirmed.

Jesus Christ loooool
'It was just a breakdown in communication. I lost my Spanish mobile and didn't realise that the club don't have my Brazilian number. Otherwise they could have called me on that. But I came back the minute they got in touch and I'm really sorry this has happened. Something seems to go wrong every year.
'Problems seem to seek me out. I was actually waiting to hear from my agent to tell me to come to Spain because I was desperate to get back to work. I was getting really bored on holiday. Next time I'll make sure my ticket is booked three or four days in advance.'
That has to be the worst excuse of all time. How the fuck do you not know when your clubs pre season starts Costa. :lol
Anyway, this is cool and good from Mou
"'We have conditions to get him a work permit because we want him,' said Mourinho. 'We don't want him to go out on loan, I think we have what the rules demand to get him a permit."
Really liked what I saw of him. He looks like the kind of player Mou loves.
Costa sounds jokes. Those excerpts from tha biography was hilarious.
Might be my favourite non-United player. This is very concerning.

He's the kind of bad which just costs constant goals, spreads absolute panic throughout the team and makes everyone in the stadium nervous as fuck whenever he's within 30 yards of the ball

And was bought as a leader, when he's the biggest pussy in the league. And when he does try and display his toughness, ends up just bundling people over.
Would sell for £5m.
@Mango, he was really good for a lot of 13/14. Supposedly utter dogshit at Lyon before that, and he's reverted to that under a manager who simply seems incapable of organising a proper defense without just throwing as many people as possible into the defensive unit.

My thoughts exactly.
Assuming DeGea stays, I'd hope to see DeGea, Shaw, Darmian, Schneiderlin as default names on the teamsheet. Rooney comes printed on the teamsheet so there's nothing we can do about that.
CBs, other CM, wide players and AM are all available for decent rotation options.

To be fair, what do you think Rodgers defensive tactics consist of? Probably some team talk along the lines of " I knew a man once who said, 'Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.' Now go out there and defend."
