Disagree with that last part. It may not have worked for him at Liverpool, but he wanted to wear the shirt as a senior player and he got to score some memorable goals for us. Think at this point in his career it means a lot to him.

£140k/week is comfortably affordable for Arsenal. It's probably an "average" wage for Europe's "bigger" clubs.
Plus you have to remember be negotiated his £100k wage when Arsenal were desperate to keep him and so this is bump on that.
