I think its been almost like a parody of itself, if I'm honest. Lost in meandering character development instead of plot, and that character development hasn't been strong enough to warrant it. Poor editing, curiously oblique plot, average to poor performances from almost everyone involved, and a hyper-stylised script that doesn't mesh with the characters and actors involved.
This week's was the first one where - even though six hours into an eight hour series it still feels like we're finding things out - some energy was injected into proceedings and some of that character development was used wisely (for McAdams).
Fargo S2 premiere getting good comments though. The real 2014 GOAT.

TD Season 2 has absolutely been a miserable shit-show, outside of Farrell.
What could have been a good final scene in the last episode was ruined by one of the most bizarre musical choices I've probably ever heard on a TV show. I had to pause my TV and check I didn't accidentally hit play on fucking Fantasia on my laptop.

The writing has also been inconsistent but I feel it's been poorly translated to screen and poorly communicated to the actors at times. I find Farrell and Vaughan to be very inconsistent, and yes, like parodies of last season's well-pitched noir archetypes.

Edit: The music thing didn't work for me, from what I've read people seemed to either love it or hate it. I didn't hate it, I just thought it was out of place for an ecstasy fueled (essentially) heist scene.

But yeah it wasn't especially well conveyed there. Again directing not at the same standard.
Oh yeah, forgot the second season of that started. Haven't bothered with it as I heard it was shit.
