ISideWith.com the lazy easy way to discern which candidate you should support for President.
97% Bernie Sanders, would probably be more but I half-assed the "how important is this to you" stuff.
95 Bernie Sanders
93 Hillary Clinton
71 Martin O'Malley (Pretty sure Sixers drafted him last month)
37 Christie
23 Trump
4 Santorum

99% Bernie. Also I'm no longer part of the problem and I registered to vote so now I can vote for Bernie. That and I donated $5 to his campaign.

Nah, he's the dude that Carcetti from The Wire is based off of.
97 Hillary
91 Bernie

5 Ted

3 Carson
I guess I would be a democrat if I were living in the States.

Seems about right I guess. Most of my right leaning opinions are economic and there wasnt a tonne of that in there.

97% Bernie. I found it odd that Trump was higher on the list than most righties. Rand and him were my top. Rand makes some sense since he's a half ass libertarian and is somewhat reasonable on social and reasonable on foreign affairs. I guess maybe because Trump didn't used to spit right wing vitrol? He used to be pro choice and didn't hate the poor. He's a loon now though.
Carly, Cruz and Huck were the lowest for me.
I would not mind Hillary but would rather Bernie. He's just a pipe dream and realistically Hillary is the only thing preventing liberals from having crazy town take over the government and put new butts in the SCOTUS

91% Bernie and Hilary Clinton equally. Interesting considering those are the only two candidates I've been following closely.
Rest of em don't even matter to me.

Trump should matter to you if you like those candidates. He's blowing up the GOP right now. If they allow him into the debates he'll make them all look loony and if they figure out a way to prevent him from debating hell run as an independent sucking up votes. It's actually quite hilarious.

Trump is against the TPP so it might have something to do with that, plus some of his old liberal statements that he doesn't have the opportunity to flip flop on yet.
How come everyone is a democrat here. How weird are republican views, or are the republicans just closeted?
And what's the key difference between Clinton and Bernie?
I don't follow US politics at all, pls understand

Assume it's just the demographic of this place. Young and left leaning. A lot of people came from GAF too and that's distinctly left/democratic.
The young skew left and thus the Internet in general does too

I'm obviously bias but generally speaking Republicans put business interest ahead of the well being of the citizens. Meaning restricted women's rights, gay rights etc, to hell with the environment, cutting funding to social programs to enrich the lower/middle class and there is a heavier emphasis on religious based reasoning. There is a decent amount of Republican voters who regularly vote against their own self interest.
We're likely to hear Republican candidates say something negative about nation wide legalization of gay marriage during the debates despite it no longer being up for debate.

Not everyone here. Diehard is a righty IIRC. Not seen him post much on the political spectrum lately though. GAF is young and liberal and there's spill over from there. Check the Utah fans. They'll be more right leaning.
Bernie is a democratic socialist. He's further left than Hillary on economic issues. He's basically in this to push her further left and bring in more populous ideals into the debate. It's working too. She's taken the stance, along with Bernie, that any future judicial candidate for the SCOTUS would have to be against citizens united and money is speech shit.
By dark_prinny Go To PostEveryone but Pablo Iglesias.
You're not the second person I know who's socially conservative but economically liberal. There's probably about 2 more of you in the wild. I can't believe I've met 50% of this demographic.
I guess Dutch right wing are just much more reserved than republicans, because I vote right wing (the liberals) over here. But they're certainly not against gay marriage, abortion and all that kind of stuff. I guess those issues are what steered me towards democrats in that test mostly. I suppose I'm leaning more towards republican views when it comes to economy.
In reality I'm probably somewhere in the middle in between democrats and republicans.

Guess I'm the third person then. Also that stuff about Bernie makes sense then since Hilary came out in front for me as opposed to most of ya.
By dark_prinny Go To PostI'm a right winger anarchist.
If your hold socially conservative views you are most definitely not an anarchist. Considering you agree with the dems on things like economics and healthcare this is even more so the case.

Your'e actually the opposite of him. You're socially liberal and economically (US TERM) conservative.
This is probably confusing to you because liberal in the Euro sense is a right wing party. Here's it's a left wing party.
Yeah, the party I vote for are liberal and are considered center right wing. That has mostly to do with being brought up in a family with decent means.
I'm not that politically involved though. I try to follow it during elections but other than that I just read the headlines in the newspaper.

By fadetoblack Go To PostHow did the term liberal meaning socially permissive get used in such diametrically opposed ways?
That's a good question. I'm not really sure. The political spectrum in the US has changed a ton in the last 200 years. During the civil rights moment the parties basically flipped and democrats became the left party and republicans became the right party.

My family is fairly well off. I've become more lefty the older I get. Especially as I get more and more into economics. For example, austerity is a horrible horrible horrible economic policy in a downturn. Compare US to Euro recovery after the big recession to see the effects of both. Greece is another example, though they have other issues all on their own.
