In a league like the NBA where if you want to be the champion your team will have to play 82 regular season games at a relatively high level and then win at least 16 playoff games; Players health is one of the most important variables in a NBA season and playoff run. That is exactly why Oklahoma City Thunder fans are reeling today. Many local supporters of the team are in disbelief by the relatively healthy state of Kendrick Perkins. Perkins has appeared and started in 62 games this season and hasn't missed a single playoff game. One local fan when made aware of this responded, "You know, those are just the breaks. Health is part of the game and we just weren't lucky enough to see Perkins go down at the right time in the season it seems." Perkins did miss 20 games this season as the local fan alluded to, including a 17 game stretch lasting from February to March, but having a coach's pet and complete dead weight go out for the regular season doesn't do much for a team's playoff hopes. Serge Ibaka was asked about having to constantly give an extra effort to make up for Perkins in the playoffs, "You can't let it get you down. You just got to keep fighting. Regardless of how terrible a teammate is, and no matter how stubborn your coach is about his lineup you just got go out there and compete. You just never wish injury upon an opponent, ya know?" reporters followed up with, "What about a teammate?", Serge replied, "Well that's different isn't it? But at this point, what's the difference between Perkins, Brooks and an opponent?"

Sucks for the Thunder, would've rather see them get eliminated at full strength. That said:
Spurs in 5
Heat in 6

Ibaka developing a reliable jumpshot made OKC much more dangerous than they previously were.
Ibaka has had a reliable jump shot for years. He torched the Spurs in game 6 of the WCF.
Huge loss for us.
His jumpshot was not that good back then compared to now. He did nothing to miami in the finals.Ibaka developing a reliable jumpshot made OKC much more dangerous than they previously were.

Really? I don't recall him making so many of them last season.Ibaka developing a reliable jumpshot made OKC much more dangerous than they previously were.

EDIT - That last post made me look like an idiot, point is Spurs gonna run the Thunder and Pacers if it gets to that, Miami-Spurs is yet to be determined.
Boy that Harden trade keeps looking better and better.

Watch YNB and KD average 30FTAs a game. That'd be something considering the Spurs average the second least amount of fouls and the least amount of FTA (19.5FTA) against them.

The only thing sucks is that when the Thunder get knocked out we're gonna have an offseason of "If only they had Westbrook" replaced with "If only they had Ibaka" this time around.

Thunders press conference said that even if they made the finals, they wouldn't expect Ibaka back in time. Sucks they keep having people go down at the end of the season though.
I forgot that Westbrook also got injured in the playoffs. wowThe only thing sucks is that when the Thunder get knocked out we're gonna have an offseason of "If only they had Westbrook" replaced with "If only they had Ibaka" this time around.

There's no basketball the next 2 nights
Gonna have to get used to this feeling ;_;
First weekend in months with no NBA on, it's Saturday morning and I feel lost :(

If only they had [sober] Harden.

No, not really. Teams often miss key rotation players at this point of the season.
Tim Duncan missed all of the playoffs in 2000 with a meniscus tear that he got a week before the playoffs. Kobe tore his achilles right before the playoffs last season. Yao getting hurt in 2009.
Season after season we can find playoff altering injuries that happened right before or during the playoffs.

Joe Johnson's cornea. Steve Nash's nose. Perkins' knee. Garnett's knee. Jameer Nelson's shoulder. Injury is part of the game.

Yeah. Just off the top of my head, this season we have the Nets and the Warriors missing their starting centers, Parker playing hurt going forward, Hibbert with mental disability.
The Thunder really doesn't have any excuse, but what do they know? Their fans have never suffered.
My point is that it's legitimate to think they could have ended up going further if YNB and Ibaka hadn't been injured.
Regardless of that, I haven't given up on this team. I still think we have a small chance of getting the job done even without Serge.

Don't forget about Amare's...err...everything.
The Magic win the 2009 Championship with a healthy Jameer Nelson. They had to rely on Rafer Alston of all people throughout the playoffs.
I repeat: Rafer Alston. We made the Finals with Rafer Alston.
The thought even now is simultaneously astounding and depressing.

Heat win in 6 or lose in 7 games
Pacers could be up 3-2 as well going to miami but i can see 1-1 for the start.

They would've won in 2010 as well if they didn't gag it up against an inferior Celtics team.
Kobe'd still be stuck on 0 non-Shaq titles.

Yeah the Magic should have had 3 titles.
Actually more since Shaq would've never left had he won.
And the Lakers would have none.
Definitely.
Tough news about Ibaka. Im sure all of us would have preferred the Fthunder get beaten at full strength. This undoubtedly gives Scotty Brooks an excuse in the eyes of upper management.
I consider Indiana's chance to get past MIA fairly miniscule. Ill be pleasantly surprised if Im wrong, but Indiana just doesnt deserve respect at this point in time

Jalen Rose thinks OKC gonna win it all…The only way it happens is if Steven Adams continues to turn in performances like he did in game 6 against the Clips.

NOPE FUCK OKC.
Also, KD entering Slim Reaper mode would be nice.

Hell no, Mark Jackson being gone from coaching means we will have to hear him calling games and making inane comments again.
The Warriors need to keep him employed for our benefits.
It's been foretold, but nobody would listen. :(
