By Fata1moose Go To PostCutscene or loading zone? Halo consistently has frame rate drops on loading zone, as this is on an elevator I'd guess they entered a new zone.
Yeah, they entered a new zone. BTW, I don't care the resolution and FPS, i want just play the game. :D
By orichalcos Go To PostHalo 5 Guardians Gamescom Frame-Rate Test [Work In Progress]I was curious how they were going to play off Fred technically being the team leader/CO of Blue Team with Chief still basically being the unspoken leader.

Cutscene: 30 FPS drop.
After watching this again, I think I have a better grasp on it. Fred is going to be a bit more of the Cortana/Navi (lite) character, giving directions on what needs to be done gameplay-wise. Chief will make probably make the split second strategic calls that will save the team when it starts getting desperate, and the rest of Blue will just naturally rally behind Chief's example of how to enter situations.
Me likey.

It looks like they mostly stick to dynamic resolution in combat situations, while in loading zones they mostly stick to dynamic framerate. Seems like an interesting, smart choice. I do have to wonder how Warzone will fare, though.
By GringoSuave89 Go To PostI'm at work so I missed a lot, but did I read that the Halo 5 invitational had a disconnect? It had one in the first game.
No other problems for the rest, still a little disappointing though. Gotta be connected to XBL!

Totally didn't know that. Haters gonna brush it off tho

By derpface123 Go To PostThey were criticizing Coliseum's visuals and claiming that it looked weird because it was designed for gameplay first and visuals second.I know exactly what they are talking about.
It's just because 343i's yet again expanded the Forerunner design pallete. They've introduced matte white as in addition to the pre-existing shiny/metallic grey.
I'm still thinking on if I actually like it or not.
OT, but Sakurai ams a smart guy. Also somewhat relevant to Halo.
By CRIMSONxSERAPH Go To PostI was curious how they were going to play off Fred technically being the team leader/CO of Blue Team with Chief still basically being the unspoken leader.343i described Chief as the leader, but Fred as the team's producer, the one who plans out the ops and sets everything up.

IE, just because I don't enjoy most JRPGs doesn't mean the entire genre is trash.
That tourney was great today, even with AR starts, the game looks like a dream to play. The pistol is looking great. :O

I don't know why but the pistol's smart scope makes it super satisfying to shoot. the real "pew, pew" feeling.
I think Halo went to shit. I'll see how 5 is. Someone asked where the bitter old timey halogaffers are? Just playing other stuff, doing things. There's only so much whining one can do when you realize you're not the target demographic and get over it.

I've been super busy the last few days and seem to have missed a ton of stuff, is there a link dump anywhere for new news and gameplay etc?
I played Destiny when it first came out. Boy was that trash. Heard it got a huge overhaul after I quit though. Once I have access to a PS4 again I might pick that back up.
Oh dear god no, I just had fun with pals in PvE. MMO PVP is trash. I already had enough of that from WoW days.

Who knew, it's almost like AR/Magnum starts can work if they're both good weapons. Interesting how Halo doesn't have to be just BRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBR because it's what most fans started with.
Can't wait to whip that little Magnum around. Every weapon looks effective.

By Lord of Admirals Go To PostIf you thought the gameplay was trash, little has changed in that department.I thought that PVE was boring as shit. Bosses were just monotonous as fuck bullet sponges with no character or waves to them. I didn't understand the gear distribution they were trying to go for what so ever. There's nothing more frustrating than being the best in your group PVE or PVP wise only to see RNG deciding the loot and giving it to someone random, typically the worst individual or even shittier someone who AFKed the whole fucking game.
I unapologetically mined the loot cave since I ran dungeons over and over only to accrue nothing. Then at some point I asked myself why I was playing that game too.

Halo 5's campaign is confirmed to be twice the length of Halo 4's by Josh Holmes in an IGN video interview.
Halo 5 will have 20 maps at launch, composed of 14 Arena maps and 6 Warzone maps.
Digital Foundry analyzed the B-rolls and found the framerate only dropped during a Loading... segment in the singleplayer B-roll and the framerate never dropped below 60 in the multiplayer B-roll.
The build of Halo 5 Guardians used at the Invitational and presumably in all Gamescom footage is at least 3 months old according to a tweet from 343i developer Quinn DelHoyo.
Halo 5 Guardians Invitational went smoothly as far as Halo 5's stability is concerned, the only problem was a disconnect but that was not the fault of Halo 5 but rather the Wi-Fi/internet connection at Gamescom which went down for a moment during the first match between OpTic Gaming and Supremacy.
That's about all I know, the videos are linked in previous pages of this OT.

I can see the merits of both AR starts and BR starts. The history of Halo's starting weapons is a convoluted one, since Halo 1 had AR starts, but then in Halo 2 the AR was replaced by the BR so they went with SMG starts for a while but that was pretty bad so they went to BR starts, then in Halo 3 they returned to AR starts and established the BR as an on-map pickup power weapon, and this continued in Halo Reach where the AR starts were maintained and the DMR replaced the BR's place as an on-map power weapon.
Honestly I'm not a pro player so as long as Halo 5 has playlists/options we can vote on in matchmaking for both regular Slayer and Slayer BR, I'm fine with it. Just as long as everyone starts with the same weapon.
I will admit after going back and playing Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer in the MCC recently, it is super weird and old-fashioned to me that literally the only thing that happens for the entire match is people shoot each other with BRs from even the dumbest of long ranges. I don't enjoy the moments in H2/H2A multiplayer where I spawn, take 2 steps forward and immediately die to people with flawless BR aim. That said I don't think Halo 5 will be as bad in that regard because of thrusters and clamber and ground pound and all the other mobility options that make it easier to escape if you're taking fire from a cross-map BR master.
I know classic Halo fans think the BR vs. BR gameplay is sacred but when it devolves into dying 3 seconds after you spawn over and over unless you immediately find cover, I don't personally find that compelling. I don't like how so much of the map is effectively locked off because if you take a single step towards that open area you want to move to, you will be immediately be shot, sometimes by multiple people, and die. AR starts promote more use of every area of the map and I think if you record some heatmaps of Halo 5 to show player movement throughout a specific map and compare AR heatmaps to BR heatmaps, BR will mainly be the same sightlines over and over again while AR starts will be all over the place, which is the style that I think I would choose if I had to pick between them.

Yea, I agree. Every weapon looks extremely effective, and that's great. SMG looked like it might still be a bit too strong at certain ranges, but hard to tell.

He's talking about Halo. There's no need to pretend it didn't turn to shit for some people once Reach hit and it was suddenly about a different kind of gameplay entirely.
So they didn't use spectator mode because it was an old build? That is kind of frustrating. I was looking forward to seeing the spectator mode for the tourney lol
Reach did have some pretty serious issues.

By db Go To PostHe's talking about Halo. There's no need to pretend it didn't turn to shit for some people once Reach hit and it was suddenly about a different kind of gameplay entirely.Every Halo game has been a filter for its fans.
For many, Halo 2 was the stopping point.

Congrats on your 2nd place today. Not enough perfects on screen for my taste though.
Eh. I think it's pretty obvious Reach was when it started going in a really different direction. 4 was better in some respects but then took the whole loadout/aa/perk thing to new heights. People who just weren't into that finally gave up on it.
So the disconnect was a building wide issue. That's a bit better. The fact that Halo of all Xbox games can't have real LAN is still disappointing.

It's really easy for me to put myself in the shoes of those who don't like each Halo sequel and understand exactly why they abandoned the franchise based on that entry.
There's not liking it and there's actively not playing it. Do I need to cite Halo 4 population numbers?
By db Go To PostThere's not liking it and there's actively not playing it. Do I need to cite Halo 4 population numbers?
Most here feel that those numbers have a variety of factors, not just the game content itself. Some days I feel like that's not the case, but hey, what can ya do?
If that's the case then maybe a reality check is needed when even Halo casuals were complaining that it's too CoD-like to maintain their prolonged interest.
Not that many will care. But my thoughts about Halo 5, competitive and the last tourney as explained by some Beyond guys. It's screen caps, ignore the kylee minogue screen cap http://imgur.com/a/WPZci
