This time, I was in a roller-coaster seat slowly making my way up the roller-coaster hill. I'm really scared of roller-coasters so I'm trying to get off but someone's pinning me down. I turn around and Wesleyshark is grabbing me and having a seizure simultaneously, and when I look in front of me, Jem is staring at me, he has the evil face from that Exorcist movie. He screams "EVEN NOW, THIS RIDE WILL NEVER STOP" and his head FUCKING TURNS 360 just as we go down the hill into Frankie's mouth.

Fuck.

So, will Halo 5 have gravity hammers, grifball and a rockin' Forge mode? Joinable custom games? In-game friends roster? The beta showed it will have a proper after-game matchmaking lobby.

Expected the new Empire and Fathom. No Breakout, though, i guess? Weird since that is a mode they seemed to have made for eSports.

Gah Warzone continues to sound like a fantastic, chaotic sandbox.

The gameplay of Breakout is way too different to the normal gameplay for being played at eSport tournaments. Except it is a Breakout-only tournament.

We probably won't see a Forge reveal until late August/early Sept I'm guessing.

Wow, would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed we won't see a new map used in the invitational. However, at least we'll get a better look at Fathom.

The lore is good and the books range from decent to great. The game narratives are really lacking and that's probably what most people are critical of.

I wouldn't call them lacking, they're fairly basic but still quite enjoyable. I think of the games as more of a window into the universe rather than a critical component of the story.

That said I still say Halo 2's story was fantastic, with the exploration of the Covenant and the civil war etc.

Yeah. 2 and (to a lesser extent) 4 aside, the game stories are decent, but nothing to write home about. Tie that in to the books, though, and... lawd.

It's the comparisons to Destiny that get to me. "Oh, well, what did you expect from Destiny's story, these guys made Halo, it's about the same," like fuck it is.

Halo 2 and Halo 4 are the strongest ones- love their campaigns to pieces.

Halo 2 is the one that really tried to do something big and mostly succeeded. The first game's story was vague and mysterious and the third one was mostly stalling for time until the end. Reach was pretty good though.

It's weird how often I see names I recognise on the internet now.

i like 1-3

2 definitely has the best world building and character arcs I'd say.

4 has a lot of good character moments, but I'd say the overall story beats are a bit weaker than 2.

CE is aliens.
3 is just... really straightforward; not to say it's bad, but its not as good as 2 or 4 I'd say.

Reach I think is pretty underrated. It tells a pretty compelling character story amidst a pretty awesome war backdrop; canon issues aside. I'll probably play it again when its available on backwards compatibility.

I have realized something going between lots of legendary halo and Destiny of late... I like shooting monsters/aliens better in Destiny, for the most part, than in Halo. More variety in enemies, more variety in ways to approach them; I hope 5 changes this. Legendary is probably the worst in Halo, its very challenging, but I don't feel its very fun because you're so weak and your agency is reduced because all the enemies are arbitrarily more powerful. Heroic is definitely the sweet spot, where you can actually make use of a variety of weapons, and you don't die instantly to anything and everything. This critique is coming after finishing all 4 campaigns on legendary very recently, with a smattering of PVE Destiny content (raids, strikes, missions) in between them.

Reach had some pretty great moments. The ending and the scene with Jorge are great.
