I'm sure he's doing expectation control over on HaloGAF OH WAIT! :p
Frankie, tell us we're letting the hype get to us. We need reassurance in these troubling times.
While we try to determine where our hype levels should be at, enjoy some more lore from Halo: Fleet Battles.
THE COVENANT
The Covenant is a confederation of diverse alien species, joined together by a singular religious vision. A strictly hierarchical social caste system dominates the relationship between the various species that make up the Covenant. Ruled over by Prophets and their enforcers, the Elites, the Covenant is unified in the belief that an ancient civilization known as the Forerunners built a series of Holy Rings which were used to transcend the mundane world and enter a higher plane of existence. The pursuit of these rings and following the path of the Forerunners is known as the The Great Journey, and the punishment for those who interfere is death.
MINISTRY FLEETS
Strictly speaking, the Covenant lacks a standing military. Instead, it possesses a bewildering variety of martial organizations under the control or influence of one or more Ministries: governing bodies who direct vital religious and secular activities. The power and prestige of their groups waxed and waned as they waged bloody internal wars for bureaucratic dominance and promotion of their particular brand of orthodoxy, but only three were of significance (to humans) during the Covenant War.
Ministry of Resolution: Originally a minor organization tasked with countering piracy and ensuring the safety of trade and conversion ships, assignment to the Ministry of Resolution was considered an honorable posting that implicitly removed members from regular society due to long missions outside the explored rim of Covenant space. Under the direction of the High Prophets, the Ministry of Resolution grew rapidly in the early years of the Covenant War as it provided cover to send fleets beyond the fringe and then hide combat losses to stall inconvenient questions by Sangheili military leaders.
Ministry of Fervent Intercession: Justly famous for the sheer number of Zealots in their ranks, the Ministry of Fervent Intercession was a semi-monastic organization obsessed with the discovery and control of Forerunner sites.
Held in awe by many in the Covenant, these fleets could call upon resources and volunteers directly from the colonies and even other Ministries as a result of their prestige and force of ancient writs dating back to the founding of the alliance. Their fanaticism in defending Forerunner sites made them useful during the war against humanity, though their independent commanders often paid little heed to orders that did not deal directly with the safety of reliquaries.
Ministry of Tranquility: A Ministry with ambitions that far exceeded its reach, the Ministry of Tranquility worked to extend its influence and power by acquiring Forerunner artifacts and bringing new species into the Covenant, and wasn't picky about how they accomplished their goals.
Caring little for the opinions of even the High Prophets, privateers preying on Covenant artifact depositories were often traced back to the Ministry of Tranquility, and their missionaries were often little more than slavers and raiders. Ministry of Tranquility forces almost never participated in major fleet action during the War, instead swooping in to steal artifacts from human and Covenant forces alike in the chaotic aftermath.

My package from Matty Collector has shipped! I'll try to do a video giving a review/overview of the Halo SDCC 2015 exclusive toys for the ReclaimerHub channel, so expect any one of us to pimp that.

Which ministries did the the fleets at the Fall of Reach belong to?
Also can someone tell me how long we have until gamescom, please?

Dunno if a particular ministry was ever tied to the Fleet of Valiant Prudence, but I'm sure someone here is more knowledgeable on the subject.
As for Gamescom, Xbox has their briefing on Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m. CEST/10:00 a.m. EDT (it is Cologne, so the timezone is fucked haha).
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostI despise pointers.Oh yeah. Coming from Java would kinda be jarring. The syntax gets easier when you learn how to dereference the pointer using the arrow notation (->).
I totally get why they're needed and vaguely understand how they're useful, but the syntax behind them? Screw that. Going from Java to Pointers sucks. Guess I'll learn how to use them when I absolutely can't avoid them, otherwise, that's exactly what I've been doing.
=P
I'm finally getting to a point (no pun intended) where pointers are fun and not a debug nightmare.

Not sure what you guys are needing hype levels managed for, so I'll do a broad indicator:
VERY Cool MS stuff, all up in my opinion, because they're talking more about some of my favorite non Halo stuff, cool Halo stuff, but set expectations to 6/10 just to be careful. And no Forge stuff discussed at Gamescom, period.
Well talk about that mucho latero.

So guys can we expect any hints of when TFoR animated will be discussed further? Seeing character renders or something at some point would make my month

6/10?
That's not bad, I can manage that ;)
If we get to see something new MP wise it will be a 10/10 for me regardless. I just need a little sumthin sumthin.
Okay, well NOW I'm hyped.
It's got to be platform related gaming features then? That Halo can take advantage of?
EDIT: Also, need to pick up a second Xbox One for my mancave - suggestions on cheapest price etc? Don't really need another Kinect or any games...or even a pad, if it comes to that.

The Beyond mods are really hyping it up as well.
Probably a dedicated Throwdown playlist at launch that will average 200 players and then get removed in the first month
I found a decent Stat track method for Halo fantasy league. How does this sound?
some guy on beyond:Halo is quite a difficult game to score on individual merit, you're right. I think this is something that can be improved on over time though.
Taking some inspiration from Vulcan's format I would create a scoring system as follows:
1 point per kill
1 point per assist
-0.5 points per death (I doubt anyone would have a KD as low as 0.5 so points would never be negative)
10 points per flag cap in 3Flag Gamemodes
5 points per flag cap in 5Flag Gamemodes
0.5 points per 1 second of hill time
0.5 points per 1 second of ball time
5 bonus points for the following medals :
Frenzy/higher spree (Example: getting a rampage would result in 15 bonus points)
Overkill/higher multi (Example: getting a killtrocity would result in 15 bonus points)
Game win bonus - 30 Points per player (you may win a game + get outslayed, this would counter the losing team scoring more points)
Series win bonus - 50 Points per player
3-0 Series sweep bonus - 100 Points per player (So if you 3-0 a team you get 300 bonus points in total)
1st Place Bonus - 150 Points per player
2nd Place Bonus - 100 Points per player
3rd Place Bonus - 75 Points per player
4th Place Bonus - 60 Points per player
5th Place Bonus - 40 Points per player
6th Place Bonus - 30 Points per player
7th Place Bonus - 15 Points per player
8th Place Bonus - 10 Points per player
*If there is no conso then 5th/6th, 7th/8th score the same
Point to note: It would only be possible to do this at invite-only events as all games are on stream. At open tournaments it may be too difficult to track.
The only way I see this being possible at open events is if you only track games in the top 8 and make sure everyone tweets post-game stats from off-stream series.
Like I say this is only rough, I think the best way to test this would be to apply these points to the Season 2 finals (which I think we have all the stats saved for somewhere??!)

I'm guessing Snipedown's tweets are just teasing for a huge prizepool. I don't know CoD players would change games for any other reason, and even then it probably wouldn't happen.
500k prize pool or some nonsense would probably draw some more teams, I imagine, haha.
Also, I'll bet the new spectator mode is amazing or something. I mean, anything is better than the current setup, lol

Uh oh. That's kind of odd... If one player loves it and another doesn't, then perhaps it's something gameplay altering.
Loadouts in HCS confirmed ;)
