But to answer... starting with KB+M effectively starts you with a higher-precision equivalent of whatever the starting weapon is, AND it turns any weapon you pick up into a higher-precision equivalent.

Might as well start with you BR that auto locks to enemies.

Even an average player with a mouse will easily be able to aim in Halo, movement is just too slow and weapons are too accurate.

What in the actual fuck Xbox? Every single game in the last few weeks that you try to play with more than 3 people totally fucks itself in party chat and game lobbies. It's not just me, it's not resetting and it's all on xbox and not even the game devs at this point IMO. Exactly the same lobby and chat issues that have plagued Destiny and MCC showed themselves yet again trying to play Killer Instinct with a group of 4/5 mates last night. We tried for a good 1.5-2 hours and only got a handful of games. When it works it's fucking glorious, most of the time it's an exercise in frustration just trying to keep a lobby or party chat together. FFS. At least the dedis in KI when they work are a real black pearl, brilliant even.

The new Windows 10 dash had better bring serious stability to the platform for more than just H5. Honestly as an Xbox guy through and through for a decade I'm pretty close to selling this POS. The online is really fucked in multiple games and parties. I'm issuing a "fuck all of this xbox shit with one last chance with the new win10 ecosystem and H5", the shit better be on the money.

I'm old, pissed off and I don't have time for bullshit with my games anymore, there's plenty of friends wanting me to convert to PS4. You sold me on the Azure services in Australia, I somewhat bought into the idea of Kinect2, I couldn't care less about the resolution differences and I'm a Halo fanatic. You're losing me.

Higher precision =more player control. Thats what Halo should be about. Control. Control the map and power weapons.

By that logic, wouldn't implementing outright autoaim be the true endgoal? Total precision.

And setting the argumentum ad absurdum aside for a moment, the real problem is inequality of input. Playing with KB/M is clearly the best option in terms of control, but not everybody prefers it that way, and historically crossing over the two populations has gone poorly, at best. Controller players feel miserable, mouse players feel bored.

If your game has a properly working skillmatch then it'll be just fine. If KBAM users are truly above pad users by default, then KBAM users will all be high level and match each other.

I've always thought "protecting" gamepad users was facetious by most developers considering there's already ways to play with KBAM with adapters. They already exist and have been on Live since Halo 2.

In most internal surveys I've seen, the pad users couldn't even tell or didn't care that an opponent was using KBAM.

However, I'll also be contradictory here, and say one thing: Halo plays better with pad. Halo 2 PC is a good example of this; I started playing it with KBAM first and could barely handle Heroic, plug in a 360 controller and I was obliterating Legendary. I have no idea why, I can't explain it, but there's just something about Halo that actually legitimately makes it more fun and intuitive on pad. If we ever somehow got the MCC on PC, I'd be playing that shit with a pad and I wouldn't even care if I was playing against KBAMs.

edit: and KBAM v pad already exists on every recent shooter and action game on Steam.

My worst fear has come to fruition and I have to redo my Gravemind legendary speedrun.

Honestly BR starts have always been better. They're more defensive once you get spawned, especially on a larger map. No idea why people would argue otherwise.

BR starts have most certainly always been better, but a lot of that is because the AR and the pistol have historically been trash.

If other starting weapons in halo weren't such trash, BR starts wouldn't be necessary all the time.

QFT. But...Halo 3 customs with 110% speed...like mac'n'cheese, so tasty on the right map.

Power weapons have a rarity of placement and ammo so equating non-BR starts with getting the power weapon doesnt make sense.

You're correct with your response to my previous statement. Most of my statements are based on Halo 5, not the previous titles. I do prefer BR starts in Halo 2-3 on account the disparity between the AR and BR is large. However, in H5 (at least in the beta) the weapons were balanced well enough that an AR/Pistol user could be very competitive against a BR/DMR/LR user.

The AR should only beat out Br at short to near mid range. There should be some sort of overlap but not to where an AR user can ADS and spray a BR user and win. Thats the AR Spray and sprint melee. (Well now)

And let's not discuss the asinine things in Warzone like Energy bayonet

Reduced spread, yeah. Also dropped the headshot bonus. They're gonna be pretty nerfed compared to the beta, I just hope it's not to the point of uselessness (again).

They should still be pretty good, you could still body somebody with them in the beta and get kills pretty easy. I'm glad that they reduced the headshot bonuses, made them a bit bursty once shields popped.

IF my copy of MCC would work-no friends list for a week, no joinable custom games, can't get games in action sack, game actually booted my out of a custom game to the dashboard and auto-loaded up Destiny, the game I had in the drive.

No way without considerable expense to get my Halo fix, and not even getting a original xbox with CE since Xboxconnect went down this year... mom is not happy.

I despise pointers.

I totally get why they're needed and vaguely understand how they're useful, but the syntax behind them? Screw that. Going from Java to Pointers sucks. Guess I'll learn how to use them when I absolutely can't avoid them, otherwise, that's exactly what I've been doing.
