By Ozzy Onya A2Z Go To PostBackboard grenade, just had to share because I was smirking like a fool after it killed him.A good grenade can provide some of the most satisfying Halo kills.
I think it's one of the slightly overlooked features of Halo, grenades are just so damn good.
By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostWhat's the best site to get speedrun strats.I just watch Nak3d Eli on youtube. follow his guide and you'll get under 3 hours pretty easily.
As long as the connection is good, otherwise you're just getting yourself outgunned when trying to throw grenades.

Grenades are good so long as they're not too spammy :)
By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostBut then again this is the studio that gave us adrift with a robot that didn't do anything. What could you do with it, have it blow up?

You can throw the Oddball to it and it will hold it for you.

By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostHit a button to make it stomp or somethingAdrift is already a pretty terrible map, so I'd be down with that. Can't get worse, could get funny.
Armor Lock gives me bad flashbacks. Terrible, terrible idea. Easily the worst thing introduced in Halo (for me). Armor Lock + Rumble Pit was the most frustrating experience ever. It's like, "you know you're going to die as soon as the armor lock is done, just let ME be the one to kill you since I weakened you." But nope, I die while he's armor locking and armor locking idiot dies two seconds later as well.
It was still annoying in every other playlist but at least it was manageable and more often than not it was just an inconvenience and delayed the inevitable.
My blood pressure just shot up typing this.

By Invert Go To PostIm kinda with Mr Delhoyo, I'd rather my maps not have a ton of interactive elements. If implemented properly, interactive elements can be incredibly powerful in prolonging the enjoy ability of a map. As long as they're player controlled, with some indication of it happening so players can get out of the hazard zone.
IE, the ice pillars on Lockdown.

I almost feel like hazards that, while predictable, are not player controlled would be better. Stuff like the train.

The interactive cover in Halo 5, while minimalistic, is great as well.
I like the hazards. They add another level of strategy to the mix. Dunno if we'll see those in h5 or not, but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea if they will be, nor would I be disappointed if they won't.
The interactive elements in H2A are stupid IMO. Giant respawning rocks was just so odd. Also, you could get spawn killed by them. The waterfall was okay, but really screwed up some capture the flag games. Not to mention a giant orange button in an ancient and abandoned shrine looked really silly.
By Invert Go To PostIm kinda with Mr Delhoyo, I'd rather my maps not have a ton of interactive elements.
I'm fine with subtle interactive elements. Turf's knock-downable walkways and Zanzibar/Containment's gate were fun to use during objective gametypes, etc. I didn't mind the waterfall in Shrine, but I felt like it was kinda a pain to activate and therefore unnecessary. I also liked on Eden where if you shot the cover it'd take the cover down and put the other ones up.
Rereading this, I think I just have a problem with interactive elements that deal damage.
I'd just like to say FUCK WINDOWS 10 and their broken install for Nvidia users. Got it fixed though goddamn it.
That said did I miss anything in the last 24 hours since I was offline fucking with this shit?

^^^^^ That's it! if it opens up the map a bit, or a guys behind cover and you shoot the little pylon to reveal him, I'm totally ok with that. If the interactive bits on the map are lethal, I don't think they should respawn.
Really interested in what Snipedown and others are hyping up about Halo 5. I feel like we know so much at this point. What could it be? Especially something that really caters to/hypes up competitive guys?

I had so many freezes and nonsense when I first got W10 installed. Netgear Wireless AC drivers were borked too. Thankfully, got things squared aware.

a little OT but I just found out The Desolate Hope is now free on Steam. If you guy's haven't, ya'll should download it. It's one of the best RPG's I've played since Earthbound.

Yeah, really chuffed with it as well, very slick. One disappointment though - Asked Cortana to "Tell me I'm pretty" in the hopes that she would reply - "If I were unwed I would take you in a manly fashion".
No joy however.
Frank - Get the Cortana team on that stat.
Edit - Someone asked who was getting Gears UE?
/Raises hand.

I agree. In most shooters grenades are a supplementary thing: useful, but not essential. In Halo, particularly because of the shield system, they're a core strut of the gameplay.
There is very little more satisfying in gaming to me than a perfect frag+headshot. It's the little things of Halo: the slightly longer TTK. The necessity of removing shields, then killing. The grenade and the melee being as important as the gun. It still feels amazing to me, after years of play.
For me interactive objects are all in the execution. Stuff like the Relic teleporter was great. The Waterworks stalactites were good for the laughs from the rare kill you could get, but were placed in a way where they were generally shot down at the start of a match and promptly forgotten. Zanzibar/Last Resort's drop bridge is cool, but it's so... rote? .. in people knocking it down that it might as well not be there. However, on the same map you had the base gate, which actually mattered and was much more defendable. So that map has both a bad interactable and a good interactable.
Waterworks also has the secret interactable: using the Wraith to push the crates into the doors of the base. At the height of Halo 2 our clan knew whoever got in the Wraith was on box duty for the opening move of matches.

It just seems like a good time for Offensive Bias to show up again, given that we're probably not long from Mendicant Bias being unearthed.
I don't want Offensive Bias to be unearthed purely because of power creep. Can't imagine it being fun having to fight one of the most high-end AIs in recorded history who doesn't give a shit about Forerunner protocols and just flings his starships at you through pandimensional vectors that would make Lovecraft weep while simultaneously causing massive spacetime eruptions in volatile causal space by sparking explosions in slipspace portals.

I loved this. When you do it now in MCC, the enemy teams are absolutely clueless about how to cope.
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostThat's amazing.Just "ODST" in the official release title, in mainland China we call it "Helljumpers" so pretty straight forward in both. ODST is not included in the Simplified Chinese version though.
What was Halo 3: ODST?
I'm pretty much in agreement with most folks here regarding interactive map elements. I prefer them to be strategic and cover-related rather than out and out methods to kill other players. The conveyors & crates on Colossus and Elongation in H2 were and still are pretty unique, and in Colossus' case you could "trick" players on map that someone just went off the main grav lift (the loud warping sound) when it was in fact a crate you pushed on the nearby conveyor (I think dead bodies worked this way too, but not sure).
That said, I still will always have a weakness for things like fusion coils (always good for a free kill at Lockout sniper tower or Zanzibar's Camp Froman). Going forward though, like Poodle suggested, I think it would be best if interactive map elements that were LETHAL to players should be randomized/timed and not dictated by the players on the map and Terminal was JUST such a map that shows how unique and awesome that could be.
I've still had this vague idea for a map where there's a "machine room" or sorts that by traversing it, you can get across the map notably quicker, but the room itself is hazardous either in terms of being like furnace where the intense heat slowly strips your shields or there are lethal obstacles like pistons and other machinery that you have to avoid. In this way, traversing the room is a real risk/reward scenario.

Why should Bias fight against the Reclaimers? He regrets everything he did in the Forerunner-Flood war and pledge for redemption by the Reclaimers.
By Sikamikanico Go To PostOh hey guys. That looks dope. Is the bias lighting behind the monitors color-matched in realtime to whatever's being displayed? If so, did you get an off the shelf solution or DIY it with an Arduino or similar?
Just finished my mancave, and well, I'm desparate to just show it off. (Need to get another Xbone for in here for Halo 5 Multiplayer)
I'll have to dig up a picture or two of my apartment and home theater/gaming area and post it as well. Interested to see everyone's setups.

It's green to match the room, but is capable of multiple colours or a variety of programming (fade, pulse etc) It's all manual though - I just have a little remote to change it a will.

Truly the only GOOD Halo shotgun.
I think I liked it because the damage fall-off was seemingly linear and mostly predictable for a given range. Its one-hit kill range was comparable to shotguns that came later, but you could reach out to do noticeable damage at further ranges than any shotgun that came after.
