Apparently the GOW remake will have no ping for LAN. I think there's been a policy change since the MCC came out at MS which means they're allowing offline LAN. The problem with H5 is the lack of a p2p network set up...

By dwells Go To PostRegarding LAN and the lack thereof, it's almost certainly a holdover from the whole always-online DRM thing. It's no secret that the console was built around that and that stripping it out was a rush and possibly a bit of a hack job. You can't even make a profile on the console without a Microsoft account.

Microsoft has an opportunity to show some good will toward consumers with the upcoming dashboard redesign and Windows 10 kernel implementation. Given the scale of a totally new UI and a new OS driving it, it seems like it's damn near a full rewrite. Hopefully they'll use that to make the console be a bit more offline friendly and include staples like LAN support.

Oh man, I completely forgot about the new dash/UI incoming. Here's hoping that it does indeed resolve the numerous issues that seem to plague the Xbone as result of the, as you said, "hack job" of stripping the always-online architecture setup.

In all seriousness, I'm hoping that since Halo 5 (at least on a networking level) seems to be being built from the ground up, that the game should run seamlessly with the dedicated servers. I'm guessing hiccups can and will occur, but that's just the nature of running ANYTHING off of a network based miles and miles away from your location.

Here's hoping 343i can make this game work with those dedis nearly flawlessly. These HCS shenanigans HAVE to be a wake-up call to both 343 and MS to make sure there game runs flawlessly in every type of setup and scenario, right? RIGHT?

I had a similar experience watching Star Trek and seeing how much Mass Effect borrowed from it. Well, Mass Effect is like a compendium of great science fiction. There's a lot of Battlestar and Babylon there too.

I really need to buckle down and learn some 3D modeling/coding so I can whip up a Halo total conversion for XCOM 2 when it comes out.

Use blender yo! It's a free modeling program, pretty powerful too. Unless your rich, then buy Max or Maya

Jem... DMR is semi auto. That would change its RoF value to be full auto on trigger pull. So I don't think they will give us that much freedom in customs.

I know they won't, but it would still be awesome.

I want a burst fire sniper, or a magnum which shoots explosive rounds.

Also I want to have a rocket launcher which does no damage to the player holding it and and has increased explosive acceleration. Rocket jumping would be awesome.

I want a hitscan Pro Pipe.

Also, a hitscan Energy Sword with the range of DMR projectiles.

I've been debating whether or not to install that tomorrow...

On the one hand there's all the potential bugs and general wonkiness, I'm also perfectly fine with 8.1. On the other hand I really, really want to stream X1 games to my laptop...

Giant service pack. Also creates a windows.old directory so you can rollback.

Jesus Christ, this Inhuman plotline on Agents of Shield just got real dumb real fast. Fuck the conflict ball, seriously.

With how long Windows 10 was in Preview, and all the first reviews, I'm not too worried. I don't think I'm going to miss out on any major functionality, as a lot of the issues deal with really specific tasks.

Holy moly the teambeyond forums are such a difficult-read. So much negativity. I'm fine with negativity and the super competitive halo players there have a right to be worried after Halo Reach and 4; but nearly every single negative posts get voted up to double digits while even cautiously optimistic posts receive little to no votes. I just finished reading jem's back and forth with that one dude with the scooby-doo avatar. Yeesh. I think i'm done with teambeyond until the game comes out and then I'll go back and complain with them. (but hopefully not)

One thing I don't get about the whole smart-scope "debacle" is people complaining about the bonus you get while using smartscope with automatic weapons. Yes it's pretty strong while smart-scoping, however as long as you are shooting them they descope and are back to hipfiring accuracy. 75% of the time if you get into a one on one situation with an AR user with a BR you will win. Smart-scope allows AR to not be such a useless, unnecessary weapon, while having descope in the game allows it to not be way too powerful in my opinion. It felt nearly perfectly balanced (minus the now defunct headshot bonus) I do agree that the assault rifle was a BIT too powerful but only by a little bit and it seems like they took that feedback into consideration with the newer builds so far.

I'd imagine the latter, much in the way upgrading to Windows 8 worked.

Does windows 10 hit at midnight tonight?

Hopefully it won't screw up any of my tablet drivers or anything.

Just a word of caution for all the people considering jumping to Windows 10. I would hold off a week or so and see what issues pop up.
