By Wesleyshark Go To PostI'm not saying any of that at all. What I'm referring to is how obnoxious people are being over it to the point where they are accusing the developer of purposely changing things just to piss off fans or "changing for the sake of change" or having no right to express their own artistic view on the Haloverse without getting a twenty point bulletin about their justification for doing so.My apologies for misunderstanding your stance then.
The grunts look like hyper detailed halo CE grunts, save for their gas mask modules being routed through their nostrils instead of over their entire face. The Covenant vehicles are merely an iteration and an evolution of what has always been a weird mix of insecticile and alien architecture. Instead of bulbous, plain blobs that shoot plasma, they are becoming intricately detailed bulbous forms with sleek contours all at the same time. The new Wraith is gorgeous… Yet still looks like a Wraith, etc..
I still disagree with ya about the Grunts as I don't think they look much like the original Grunts at all aside from their color.
I don't think I've seen anyone accuse 343 of changing things just to piss the community off though. Change for the sake of change is certainly a common accusation, but as I said earlier, I don't think the intent behind that phrase is meant as a malicious accusation.
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostThis isn't true. Bungie's initial intent was for the Grunts to have tough alligator skin (which they did in Halo CE & 2), but then you get to Halo 3, and bam. Exoskeleton for no reason.Welp let it never be said that I can't admit when I'm wrong.

While I stand by my previous arguments (aside from what they were originally intended to be), it is interesting to learn about what they originally were planned to be like. I'm happy they decided to go with an actual exoskeleton. However it would be interesting to see what the Grunts would've looked like had they stuck with the tough skin.
edit: GEEZUS I hate typing on a phone. Kills my sentences and grammar (well the lack of sleep is more likely what's affecting the latter).

By -Ryn Go To PostWelp let it never be said that I can't admit when I'm wrong.Technically all the grunts we've seen so far are canonical. (Same goes for every other species really). So in reality, they don't have an exoskeleton. Just armored skin. You can see though that 343i's Halo 4 Grunt was a clear throwback to the original alligator-esque design with saggy reptillian skin, and toughened scaly-skin.

The lash out against 343i's initial design of the Grunt has made it very clear though that a significant portion of the fan base prefers the Grunts to be more on the arthropod side of appearances. 343i adjusted accordingly, and now we're back at Crab grunts. Not too much of a bad thing. Plus they even went back to the Halo CE blue-purple coloring which is great!
Josh Holmes posted this over on Beyond on the subject of maintaining difficulty in the campaign considering the new AI team mates:
Moat of it sounds pretty good to me although I'm still worried about the revive mechanic. It kinda makes it seem like you will revert to the last checkpoint if one of your teammates bleeds out as well...
Response from Chris Proctor, systems designer for Squad AI.
You can bleed out while playing solo. You can order your squad to revive you, but they only have a few seconds to get to you, and if you’re in the middle of a firefight they may die trying. We’ve deliberately tuned Heroic and Legendary around the number of checkpoint loads we expect, not the number of times a player gets downed and then revived. Certain damage sources bypass the downed state.
Your squad is tuned to take care of themselves if you want to play like any Halo game, not stealing your kills or getting in your way. If ordered to attack they will do everything they can to kill your target. Some care is required, they’re not a win button and can get downed or die if you order them into a dangerous situation, particularly on higher difficulties. They’re effective with almost every weapon in the game, can drive or gun in every vehicle, and have access to most player abilities, including grenades, melee and thrusters.
Overall, we’ve upped enemy damage output, responsiveness and speed to address there always being a squad of friendly AI, and the new player abilities. For example, Hunters are faster and more dangerous, are very hard to tackle from the front and have a couple of new tricks up their sleeves to handle multiple, agile targets. Along with the traditional Halo difficulty levers (higher accuracy, higher damage, reduced delays between bursts, etc.) we’ve given certain enemies faster melee attacks on higher difficulties, making player reaction time more important and keeping a single enemy melee from being an opportunity for a player to whale on the enemy from behind.
We’ve touched the tuning on every enemy and every weapon in the game, testing across all difficulties and solo, 2-player and 4-player co-op, and have addressed as much of the feedback on Halo 4 AI as possible.

I want to say Josh or Frankie addressed that over on teh GAF, they'll just revive at the end of the fight.

Oh really? I just asked what happens so I'll report back :p
Can't wait to square off on these Hunters. They should also make for formidable foes in Warzone too from the sound of it.

In Guardians MP, what's with the little circles on the scoreboard next to the players? Are they ranking symbols?? Health count???
By Silky Go To PostIn Guardians MP, what's with the little circles on the scoreboard next to the players? Are they ranking symbols?? Health count???Perphaps you are referring to a players REQ level. In which case that system is explained here pretty well.
Deployment of REQ items is limited by the REQ Level and Energy systems that govern the Warzone experience. Each REQ item costs a certain amount of Energy to deploy. The amount of energy available to you is limited by your REQ Level. Everybody starts at REQ Level 1 at the beginning of each match and you gain levels based on your actions in the game. Capturing bases, killing AI, taking out AI Bosses and killing enemy players will help you level up within the match. The higher your REQ Level, the more energy you can store and use to deploy REQs. The more powerful the REQ, the more energy you need to deploy it – so, for example, you can spend two energy points to deploy a Warthog or save up until you reach REQ Level 5 and spend all of your energy to deploy a more powerful Banshee. Energy replenishes at a set rate over time, and you gain a bonus energy point every time you level up. These systems are in place to prevent Warzone from becoming “pay to win.”
This only takes place in the Warzone playlist btw. Arena does not have this.

I'm skeptical about the AI. It sounds to me more like artificial difficulty. As long as it's not as bad as Reach though.

That's not I'm referring to, this has to do with Arena as these circles were in the beta. When you hold the back(?) button and look at the scoreboard in game you see these partially filled/sometimes fully filled circles. Hang on let me see if I can get a screencap.
