By Invert Go To PostBro bro bro bro. Thought we were doing breakout for 24 hours straight on the 27th
Naw we decided later on that doing swat for 12 hours then breakout for the next 12 hours is the best way to spend launch day. Then campaign afterwards. Gotta prioritize the only true ways of playing Halo first.
There is a lot to find and do in the campaign. Certainly has some good replayability it seems.
That's what i'm hoping for. Will probably play the first couple of levels on Legendary, if too frustrating will drop it down to heroic.
Also, It's probably an unpopular opinion, but Halo 2 anniversary (multiplayer at least FOR SURE) looks much MUCH better than Halo 5 graphically to me. Yeah, yeah, it drops frames every once in a while, but still.
I'm not sure if it's actual graphical fidelity or the art style, but Shrine, for example, looks freakin' gorgeous. Can stare at the water on that map for hours.
By Ukumio Go To PostDon't get me started, I've spent an hour on blue team trying to find the last two Intel items…did find some cool easter eggs though. Hint: Follow the weapons.
Fucking intel man. Fuckkkkk.
Tried to sweet talk Josh into giving me eary access yesterday.
Didn't work. Though not sure if it was my terrible performance or the teabagging that did me in.

By AllIsOneIsNone Go To PostPeople gave derpface shit about that anatomy model dick pic but not that giant rat shit ridden pizza? For shame. Are we there yet? Fuck.
To be fair though, that's not rat shit, those are meatballs. It's just a pizza with no cheese or sauce with a bunch of meatballs on top of it, nothing really explicit about it.
By VinFTW Go To PostHow big is everyones preload right now? Mines 46.
46 as well. No MP patch yet.

Yeah, Josh on twitter says the patch is gonna be sometime this week (so before the game launches obviously).
Also, I think when Ryn finished his Halo 4 run he pointed out some cool assassinations. I was playing thru some Spartan Ops (i know...) and I've never seen these Jackal assassinations. They're bad ass!

Also, Halo 4 Spartan Ops has some good looking environments.
H4 had really fun assassinations in PVE haha. Looks like that's been ramped up considerably for h5.
SpOps was dumb fun... But got old really quick. The latter half of environments were a nice change of pace, but I was already in burnt-out mode with it by then and what kept me playing were the cutscenes and achievements.
Tl;Dr Looked great. Was fun to shoot stuff mindlessly. But was quite hollow.

Yup, completely agree with all of that. I just wanted to shoot stuff this morning and I got my fill :)

By Wesleyshark Go To PostHave they shown any of the city one? Must have missed that haha
Not more than a few seconds. I think its going to be a Warzone Assault map only.
Stupid question: is LAN still in tact? With the drop of split screen, does that effect local games for tournies?
Just in that clip we saw a few weeks/months ago.

I wouldn't mind this at all. I'll be very happy if the Warzone Assault maps are completely new and designed for the mode, since I always thought they would just be modified versions of regular Warzone maps.

They are separate entities from what I have read. The assault maps are structured differently.

"That’s not to say there won’t be some quieter moments though. In fact, a few of the chapters will introduce something quite new when it comes to typical Halo campaigns in the form of non-combat exploration spaces. These particular chapters will give you a chance to catch a breath, but also to explore, to look, and to listen. More than perhaps any other campaign in Halo history, there is story to be found to those willing to look and listen – whether that be to your squadmates themselves, or perhaps to other characters that are scattered throughout the environment. These non-combat chapters give players the chance to advance the story while not necessarily needing to simultaneously advance on the enemy."
I am beyond hyped.

Hmmm 15 chapters and some are non combative?
Seems strange. They don't mean that the whole chapter do they?

Plus, one of them in particular introduces one of the most excellent Unggoy in Halo history. Trust me.
I love that Grunt. One of the greatest additions to the game IMO.
Will be interesting to see how non-combat chapters fit to Halo and can 343i make good non-combat segments.

There is a whole mission that plays like Myst.

Sounds like whole chapters are based around exploration rather than combat. Jazzed. I spend countless hours exploring Halo campaign levels looking for things that probably aren't there... Now they are telling us there'll be stuff this time around.
Hmm, I can dig it I guess if there is some mystery to it but I wonder how it will go down with the masses.
I like what I'm hearing about the tonal changes. Akin to what Bungie did with TTK... Adding some variety, platforming, and puzzles into the basic shooter format. It's a good change, if done correctly.
By Fahzgoolin Go To PostLol ya.I don't think they would purpose such large maps so they only work within one gametype in an already specific mode. My guess is they have three on Warzone assault and three on normal Warzone then they'll rotate them out to their counter playlists to keep it fresh.

I really wanted Halo 4 to start in Requiem with no combat for a while, so it appears to be just another abandoned Forerunner artifact and then BAM, releases something he shouldn't have. In Halo 5, I just hope there's a Warthog run, the Ghost run in Halo 4 provided no challenge.

This.
I grew up on Myst and Riven so I love wondering around and appreciating the art and environments while trying to get to places out of Reach.

You're wrong, 3 whole missions are Non-Combat, but I can understand why you'd think that since some of the missions are blended together really well; especially the Meridian ones.

The streamer must have accidentally gone into mission 5 by the time I started watching (not exactly sure where the transition is). That's really interesting, thanks for correcting me!

I too enjoy Locke's armor but not enough to preorder a physical copy from GameStop. It will feel better to unlock it myself anyway.

Yeah, in the email I received from Microsoft, they actually added a bit about how mission 3 ends at a certain point. I actually love the non combat zones because it allows you to just walk around and listen to all the background NPC chatter.
I'd rather have shorter, more meaningful missions than lengthy, drawn out endeavours filled with fodder encounter after fodder encounter.

Unless it's a warthog-run style mission, 15 minutes is too short.
I'd rather have long chief missions and baby Locke missions.
Josh, I don't like Locke's character. Try as you might to replace chief with him.

By Fahzgoolin Go To PostAre some missions really only 13-15 minutes long? Wtf
Long live CE
Yeah dude, I was playing CE campaign the other day and I loved how in Assault on the Control Room it's just the same fucking room design over and over followed by the same fucking bridges with breakable glass floors that you can fall through, and if you die you get sent so fucking far back because the checkpoints are shit!
the rest of the missions are pretty great though
Needless to say, I'm ready for Halo 5.
Gotta love that CE length padding... By running through the same exact levels over and over and over, just in different directions haha. CE was Destiny before Destiny was Destiny.
Assault on the Control Room was entirely way too long. On the plus side you get to do it again later in the game!
Anyone having issues finding matches in MCC today? I feel like the last update made things worse... Lol
I don't know if that Blue Ninja guy is here right now, but here's a question for him:
Without spoiling anything, were there any missions in Halo 5 that stood out as egregiously bad a la Assault on the Control Room (CE) or Cortana (Halo 3)? Just a "Yes" or "No" answer would suffice.
