By derpface123 Go To PostI would love a mobile app that lets you check out how your Spartan looks, look at your match history, view your competitive rank, and search by gamertag to view all that same information but for people besides yourself. Halo 3 and Reach had awesome Bungie.net integration back in the day and I would love to see that return. I'm sure it's possible with the API people are talking about, but I think an official app would be the best.Just give us the destiny app for Halo. Let us manage our reqs, buy packs, etc.
Welp I beat Halo 3 this morning. What a fun romp through memory lane that was.
Not to doot my own horn, but I did significantly better than I remember. Predicting enemy patterns and knowing what weaknesses they had as well as how I could exploit them. It's a cool feeling to see how far you've come. I remember beating the first level on Legendary was once stupidly hard (so scrub) but now I know the levels like the back of my hand and I just came out of Halo 2 on Legendary so those bastards didn't stand a chance.
As far as the series goes in terms of gun play I would say that it's still a great time. For multiplayer not so much but the campaign was pretty fun. Though Halo CE is waaaay better at cqc. Where Halo 3 shines is in the fuckin vehicle combat. The Scarab battles were so awesome. Ramping off a huge hill or what have you into a Brute Chieftain, blowing up the core, and then high tailing it outta there. The Warthog run was also really cool.
The story had its ups and downs. Not the strongest (that goes to Halo 2 imo) but it was kinda charming... sometimes.
Overall a good time with really cool spectacle, spectacular music, and a decent wrap up for the story.
Now... on to Halo 4!

Yes. This.
In my quest to beat all the main campaigns in MCC, I have done H2 and H4 so far. I'd like to finish Halo CE this weekend and then do Halo 3 within the next week or so. I know I can finish CE but I'll be busy throughout the week and during next weekend, so I don't know how I'll find the time to finish Halo 3... but I told myself I would beat all 4 campaigns before 5 comes out.
Not sure if gamestop will have elites in stock on the 27th, I wanna be able to play right away but I'm afraid to cancel my amazon pre-order and gamestops all like "lol we're out"....then have to wait another 2 days @__@
Wait a second wut...
It hasn't given me the achievement for beating Halo 3...

Check on Waypoint to make sure they didn't mark it as a co op completion for a level. Happened to me.
Time to go dark on h5, why in the hell would they give streamers the game two weeks before launch??
Me and gringo beat the raid! It was pretty fun

Man, I REALLY hope 343 takes the time later to explain who Blue Team is, because apparently they get 0 info dump before they show up.

Hmm, that's a spoiler bruh. If everyone wants to be willy nilly about things that's fine, so maybe we should have this discussion now.
Personally, I want to save all emotions from the campaign for when I play it, disappointments and all. Knowing whether or not they actually are described in the game and to what extent they are is a spoiler to me, and if it's not to a majority of you then that's totally fine. I think everything regarding Halo 5's single player should be spoiler tagged from here on out.
I avoid those (expect spoilers) threads for this reason lol

By FUNKNØWN iXi Go To PostDo 8v8's lag on smaller maps? 8v8 KOTH Guardian without hill contesting could be amazing.I'm not sure if I'd want grenades left on or off
I remember we had a cool KOTH gametype in Halo 3 where you scored only with kills and the hill was a randomly moving shield recharge zone, the only way to get your shields back up. Worked great on small maps like Guardian with teams.

First two missions alone spoil quite a bit. I kinda guessed ahead of time what one major plot point would be, but yeah. I'm doing dark on most threads myself.
So glad to be done with that raid haha

No spoilers here. I watched Giant Bomb play all 3 missions today, and I'm not regretting it a bit but I'm not super sensitive about spoilers. Some setup stuff for the direction of the story that we didn't know is in there, but if you're wanting that virginal playthrough I wouldn't watch it because there are undoubtedly great moments for long-time fans.
Impressions-wise it looks incredible. Very confident fresh take on the campaign that looks awesome, fun, and silly in the ways halo should be. If the rest of the game is this level of quality it's going to be something very special.

Watched the first two missions and cut myself off there. Incredible, they use the word scale and that's the best way to describe it. Not only has the volume been turned up to 11 but it's executed with great polish IMO. The characters interact, the enemies can be seen way off in the distance, constant flow to the game but moments of old Halo to pause and enjoy the story or scenery etc.
Loved what I saw. Damn excited for this game. Guardians music all day at work today.

I'm now watching the readyuplive stream and gaddayum at the alternate routes. Such a great addition that adds to exploration of the environments.

Yep.
I can't help but watch. It looks terrific. Naked Eli is on Legendary - difficulty is right there, as it should be.

It makes the E3 campaign reveal that much funnier and more perplexing, even though I understand what they were after.
One thing that really excites me about the campaign is that there are 15 playable missions. That's the most of any campaign by a pretty decent amount.
Sad to see so many people caving to the live streams. Don't you want to save yourself for the real deal?

Yeah, but I can't help but wonder if some of the missions are like 15 minutes long.

Based on this Legendary footage, unless some of them are tiny box missions, I doubt this - on Legendary, anyway. Blue Team seemed pretty hefty on Heroic, and that's mission 2.
I'm assuming Blue Team missions are CE / Reach-length while Osiris missions are H2 / SpOps-length, as seen in Enemy Lines. Ultimately, I'm expecting Osiris missions to make up about two thirds of the game, while the combined replayability, breadth of important cutscenes, mission scale, investment in encounters and extras like Intel will ultimately make H5G's campaign close to the fabled fully-realized Halo 2 in length, while still keeping it possible to get some speedy times under your belt if you just cheese every encounter and outmaneuver enemies and objectives.
I also fully expect the final mission to feature both squads and make use of the entire sandbox as opposed to blowing the campaign's vehicular load in the second act like in 4 and Reach.

Given that the lower end of the average playtime for the entire campaign is 8 hours, each level should be around a half an hour long a the least.
Anyone have links to 343 saying how they'll gauge interest in Legendary/Mythic REQ items for Custom Games? I can't recall if it was Josh or Quinn who mentioned it, and where it was.

By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostCollectibles are just artificial inflation in most games. Cod and Halo included.
I was happy to see in the stream blue team intel found X of X total. I really liked that little information addition. It appears collectibles are more meaningful in H5 over say all the superfluous collectibles of ACIV. Black flag had a map that was near intimidating when first looking at it.
By Trey Go To Postthe speed lines while sprinting and thrusting, lol. Have those always been there?
I think the Steven Segal running arms/hands are funnier. The lines are an indicator so you know you can Spartan Charge as you've hit full sprint speed.
the squad stuff: is the revive mechanic disabled on legendary?

Not story spoilers, but something I gleamed while watching the first 3 missions about Prometheans: Really impressed with both the revamped enemies and weapon sandbox. The addition of soldiers make the Knights few and far between so the fights are less repetitive, being able to shoot off the armor of the knights to expose weak spots is a nice addition to their combat puzzle. Crawlers were fine in 4 and not much has changed there, but they still look fun to shoot in the face.
As for the weapon sandbox, the Prometheans weapons seem more unique now as opposed to just UNSC/Covenant counterparts, though we have talked about this with Warzone gameplay previously.

I love the soldier enemy type. It makes the reality of them being composed humans all the more convincing.
Wondering if my H5 console bundle from HuntTheSignal will arrive anywhere near the 20th, or if it'll be some "6-8 week shipping" garbo...
By Fahzgoolin Go To PostI love the soldier enemy type. It makes the reality of them being composed humans all the more convincing.I'm thinking the soldiers are humans composed on New Phoenix, would be a nice explanation to having a new Promethean enemy type.

I think some of the Knights we're definitely from new phoenix if I remember Spartan ops correctly.
By Invert Go To PostI think some of the Knights we're definitely from new phoenix if I remember Spartan ops correctly.Oh yeah, that's true, I need to watch those videos before Halo 5, I only did the one run though of SpOps.
By Fata1moose Go To PostI'm thinking the soldiers are humans composed on New Phoenix, would be a nice explanation to having a new Promethean enemy type. They're just AI, the Forerunners used them back in the olden days to supplement their actual soldiers. Their appearance now is related to how the Promethean weapons have different functionality, and how the Knights are different (BTW, I thought it was really cool how they mentioned the new Knights were first encountered on Oban, as that battle was seen in Escalation). Someone has rediscovered the old factories and such, and they're now being used to improve the Prometheans in many ways, either through new advancements or re-using stuff from the Forerunner-Flood war.
Pretty much confirms the forge variants do count. https://twitter.com/JoshingtonState/status/654687194242662400
I'm over it at this point. Just makes me think they pushed some launch maps back to release as DLC, which might explain why the post launch map count grew a little bit. Then they just decided to count the Breakout maps.

another thing i noticed about the promethians (no story spoilers. actually no spoilers at all really, just talking about the knights) the knights cant teleport anymore. i actually miss this, the problem in 4 was that knights shields recharged too fast and the knights were invinsibe for awhile when they teleport and you lose track of them for a second which combined with the invincibility time meant their shields were back. now that knights have no shields thats not a problem anymore tho so im kinda sad its gone. would have been great now if they just took out or toned down the invinsibile time on the teleport. now they seem a bit like generic bullet sponges.
also i noticed in previous gameplay watchers can still shield enemies and i think they can chuck back grenades still too but their blue revive ability is gone replaced by a similar looking ability but the beam is red and i think it just heals damaged enemies rather then reviving destroyed knights? also they seem a bit slower, so changes to the watchers look good imo
