Maybe you can play it via skype with your non-real-life-friends?? Idk. It'd be a lot more work, but it's something as I know people used to play Catan on skype pre-online versions existing, so maybe Risk is possible. But i'm assuming the magic of opening one of those classified envelopes for the first time is lessened when you're not all around in the same room.
Or you can try making friends at a gaming store; I've done some board game nights at a couple places, and it's always been a blast even without me literally not knowing anyone. They usually play everything from Catan to Pandemic to all sorts of Risk variations.
Honestly, it took a lot of convincing to get my friends to play a board game of all things the first time I bought it, but after the first couple of games......

I'm away this weekend, then I have the fucking in-laws coming monday next week til fucking thursday. Then off to the UK thursday evening so my dad can see his grandkids. I will be back monday the 26th. Although this weekend and next week until I go to the UK will be as exciting as being circumcised without anesthetic, it should soothe the pain of waiting.
Oh yeah, anyone tried the MCC after the new patch? Tonight and monday the 26 will be the last times that I play that turd. I'll probably delete it after halo 5 unlocks.

Good point - otherwise you'll be waiting till it gets delivered. I have mine coming via release date delivery through Amazon- obviously won't be here in time to play with at midnight haha but I work morning-afternoon anyway so it works out.
