You could use this same logic with slayer to be honest.
That said Holmes has posted on Waypoint saying that Team Arena is essentially the HCS playlist for H5. They've also said they're going to try Breakout in HCS. So it makes sense to include Breakout in that playlist.
I just wish there was a separate team objective playlist.

Damn near everyone jumped ship after Halo 4. The only ones left were those who were posting on forums, which were the vocal minority. We've all seen the graphs of people who stopped playing when the Call of Duty came out(what one was that BlOps2?), and the gradual slide every week afterwards. There's no way that was just competitive players.
Halo 5 could launch with 2 playlists, Slayer and Breakout, and I'd still play the hell out of it provided all the maps were there.

I meant that the minority (SWAT fans) within that the vocal minority (typically was competitive players in the past, who are now part of the majority, including fans who post on forums) is who they are catering to with SWAT, if that makes sense lol

I think forgers will have a lot of fun with designing maps around Breakout. I think all the Breakout maps we've seen are very one-dimensional. I think Altitude and Trident will be the strongest maps, but I want to see some Asymetrical maps (possibly with side-switching each round) and I think that will increase the depth ten fold.

Asymetrical Breakout is basically CounterStrike which isn't a bad thing at all. I would love to see something like that get made. Blue Team gets a flag and has to plant it on one of two sites. Red has to split up into smaller teams and defend the two side. Could be really entertaining.

Actually, I'm not sure if I've seen them ever acknowledge it formally. I'm guessing there's a technical hangup between the old games' code and the dedicated servers, but idk.
By J-Twelve Go To PostYes.There's quite a bit of depth to it. Route running. Position denial. Nade throws. When to pick up the flag.
Let's say we're playing last years beta on Crossfire. When you spawn, you have the House to your right, and the large ramp to your left. The ramp has 4-6 (cant remember) grenades in the middle most portion of it. If you can secure those, you can control the house effectively with a few Nade tosses. however you have to account for the location of their BR wielder, if hes on the tower you're wide open to him. If he's moved to the flank (near the ramp) hes more open to you. If he's on the tower, do you try to move team mates through the house to secure him? Do you go through center? Do you augment your BR over to your side of the map to get an angle, leaving the enemies portion of the ramp partially open to get in close to you?
There's probably going to be a fairly wide assortment of weapons on the field as-well, We've seen in RUL's videos that there's DMR's and Hydra launchers on some of the maps. It's going to be interesting to watch these matches as they go on to see how the teams shift and adapt to how their opponents are playing. How many do we send to secure the hydra? Is securing the extra grenades worth it? Where's their BR at? Is he staying at their rear giving us an advantage in this location?
Breakout had a TON of depth to it in the beta, and the addition of the flag, and other weapons is only going to add to that.

The story Is shaping up to be pretty darn good, but I feel like that could go either way TBH. I haven't been able to play a multiplayer game with much satisfaction since the beta, so I'm tremendously biased on that front.
Asymmetrical breakout where one team tries to plant a bomb with a long fuse time wound be better with full shields I think.
