By derpface123 Go To PostI'm worried that the playlists will rotate in a perfect cycle. That would actually bother me a lot. I need to know if it goes like that or if it is actually random (as it should be).
I do not believe it rotates in a static cycle. I'm guessing that it is randomized when the dedicated server is spun up for the match.
By zoabs Go To PostThere already is a change of pace in the fact that it's elimination and it's smaller map. It's already more tactical than your average game of team slayer.
Breakout takes it away by essentially having a see-first-kill-first gameplay.
The maps really aren't smaller, Longest, Midship, Lockout, and even Battle Creek are smaller maps.
I've rewritten this post several times and i'ts hard to convey what I'm trying to say so i'll keep it short. Breakout needs to be fast, high risk high reward rounds that rewards excellent team play. I don't believe having normal shields would deliver on that.
By xXx_sasuke_xXx Go To Postif its the same canvas map then they should count as one map, thats how the maps have always been counted.

Breakout is fine as it is! I will play the Breakout playlist and give it a fair shake to see if it's something I will play alongside my regular scheduled 4v4 Slayer.
Having Breakout in the only playlist with objective gametypes is not.

There is a good variety in map size in Breaktout, more importantly. Gambol and Altitude are much larger than their counterparts.
Also, yeah Breakout puts more importance on strategy and positioning than purely the ability to shoot. It's enough of a change that I definitely love the change of pace. It's not as simple as "see-first-kill-first." That's SWAT.
I'm fine with it being in the arena playlist at LAUNCH to get people introduced to it who may not know about it and avoid its playlist. That's obviously why its only there in two slots. But, eventually, maybe a month or two later, it should just be in its own playlist, especially when new Arena maps are released.
Also, I think once BTB comes out Warzone should just be in one playlist as well. For now, because its novelty and match length, its fine that it's in two.
So I can't play objective games without being forced to play shitty Breakout? Fucking Christ, 343, how is this always so hard to get right for you guys?
By Cliq Go To PostI agree that Breakout shouldn't be in Team Arena, but I don't agree that Breakout should have normal shields. I think having less shields and faster gameplay mixes up things in a good way. If you want to play slayer, well, there's a slayer playlist. If you want a different type of slayer, play Breakout. Plus, having less shields gives a better opportunity for a 1v2 comeback than normal shields. Think about it. Guy 1 shoots enemy, enemy kills guy 1 but now has low shields, guy 2 has full shields and now kills low shielded enemy.Yup, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy Breakout, for those comeback moments.

Team Arena is fine as it is. It matches its description: "Play on the very best modes and maps Halo 5 has to offer."
It is a perfect launch playlist because it gives new players an overview of H5's Arena content. I don't think it's a great long-term playlist, but the people who play at launch and the people who play a few months down the line are different audiences and will be catered to accordingly. We'll get our traditional Halo playlists eventually (I needs my team objective).

I'm actually pretty happy overall with the playlists. I'm even okay with them withholding game-types at launch, because it's a pretty smart way of keeping people coming back, and it seems like they're doing everything they can to retain population so they don't have another Halo 4 situation.
Breakout is super shitty, probably the least fun gametype in Halo history, but I'm happy they trimmed the fat in terms of how playlists go. Like JC said, they'll probably take out Breakout super soon.
But lol at people freaking the fuck out at this news, when has Halo ever had perfect playlists at launch?

Pretty well said. The increased lethality can be incredibly punishing. If you catch a team napping, you can run through them pretty quickly. However, if you're too aggressive you can get put down really quickly. Trying to guess the routes that they're going to take for a pre-nade and changing your playstyle to counter it is something I enjoy doing.
It's a very fun game mode to play with a whole team :)

There is always a disappointment! It makes you wonder who dreams up this shit. I was expecting (like everyone else I should imagine) separate breakout and objective playlists. It's like they do it on purpose..
@ a zoojoo. Yes I can understand them want to give the game shots in the arm by adding stuff after launch. But I don't think that not including an objective playlist is the way forward. BTB, forge, free maps and reqs yes. Playlists no. Six playlists at launch and the seventh added with BTB (forge lol) is all the game needs..
Really looking forward to playing the same 6 maps over and over in the slayer playlist until 343 decides to add the missing ones.
I really feel like 6 maps is plenty at the start, but I did play de_mirage, de_inferno and de_cache only for 300 hours in CSGO so there might be something wrong with me.
So many people ass mad about Breakout, Team arena is basically the MLG/HCS playlist, no duh they're gonna put breakout in to test the waters and see if the competitive community picks it up. So for your sakes you better hope they don't like it because if they do, heh, it aint going anywhere anytime soon.

No Empire or Eden is disappointing. Their omission is strange as I thought that they played well in the beta.
Breakout in Team Arena is bizarre to me, but I guess I get the reasoning, and I'll be interested in how the experiment plays out.
What I really don't get is map distribution. Why not just put all maps in all relevant playlists? Are those 3 Warzone Assault maps really totally unsuited for conventional Warzone? Do Empire and Eden really have no home in Team Slayer or FFA? Feels weird. Better to put the maps everywhere and pare out the ones that don't work, IMO.

"hey guys brav here, we've heard your feedback and we think it's time to fudge up the nexus of your halo spacewaves by adding empire and eden to the slayer playlist! in addition, we are also removing breakout from team arena. why? well, little one, it was all us. in our incomprehensible wisdom we realized we probably shouldn't have something as quirk-mixed and tyranni-cool as breakout in the only list where people can play objective in arena.

Lol fucking quality post right there!!
Playlists seem ok just really not what I was expecting with the way they had talked about it. The missing maps in playlists is the only really baffling thing. As long as their timeline for playlist management is measured in weeks and not months I think this will probably be the best Halo launch yet. It's easy to forget how fucked up Halo 2, 3, and Reach were at launch and people stuck with those games for quite some time.
By Kentish Pikey Go To PostThere is always a disappointment! It makes you wonder who dreams up this shit. Objective playlists have never fared well population wise, so having them in the default playlist makes a lot of sense imo. Hopefully when they introduce new gametypes, they'll add them to Team Arena as well.

The "tyranny of the majority" means that often the majority vote determines what playlists are available while the lesser vote gets ignored and over powered. You guys are reading too much into that. There isn't an insult in there at all.

Halo 5 ctf is so good. I'm sad to see it thinned out among slayer and breakout in a "variety" playlist.
I can see ctf and strongholds being together, but slayer and breakout? Sheesh

I would enjoy a dedicated CTF/Strongholds/whatever other objective modes are in Halo 5.
What do you guys reckon the odds are that we rip open the Custom Games menu on day 1 and the available modes we can choose are only the ones we see here in the playlists? Wouldn't surprise me.

Tyranny of the Majority is the reason we've been plagued with SWAT taking up a playlist for a few titles now. Kappa

If so, then who are they catering to with this launch, people who don't enjoy Objective gametypes?
That may be the case, but don't you think that's a silly way to put it then? He's insulting some group of fans, that's the point. Something they shouldn't be doing because it flames the war between THIS GROUP vs THAT GROUP, etc. But yeah, either way who cares.. Things are destined to be that way regardless lol

Yeah, quitting, betraying, and idling. Plus you get penalized if you quit once voting starts so you can't do that exploit if you leave if your map/gametype doesn't get chosen.
