By Mdot Go To PostThanks for posting that, Derp.
So there are certain items in each pack that we get to "keep" such as skins and armor, instead of just being a one-time-deal sort of thing? Those can be used at any time.
Then there are items good for one time use in Warzone (only?) that will disappear after activated?
Am I understanding this correctly? I kind of just ignored most of the REQ business tbh.
Pretty much. Skins/Armor/Helmets/Stances/Assassinations/Emblems are permanent.
The RP boosts/weapons/vehicles are one time use.
By JBird20022 Go To Post*violent twitching….*
Lol why? Warzone games are going to be much longer on average. Entirely possible that you can finish 2-3 arena games within the time it takes to finish 1 warzone match. The end-of-match awards will kinda balance out.

It's an ok game that is easy to pick up and play by anyone. But, I honestly didn't feel much playing it. Even if Halo 5 wasn't this year, I still wouldn't be buying it.

By derpface123 Go To PostSome good things to know from the new 'Building your REQ collection Part 2' post:I'm going to be so fucking addicted to this. It's like they combined the best parts of ME3, BF4, and Titanfall's reward systems and made a shit ton of cards. I'm legit worried that I'll be tempted to buy a REQ pack with real money. It's only a few bucks...
- "When you first launch the game, you’ll receive a starting REQ bundle that includes 54 REQ cards, as well as 7500 REQ Points."
- "Spartan Rank is a measure of the time you’ve spent within multiplayer. Every game you complete in multiplayer will earn XP towards levelling your Spartan Rank. The better you play, the more XP you’ll receive, helping you level up faster. Every time you level up your Spartan Rank, you get a REQ Pack as a reward."
- "So, to obtain these packs with in-game currency will cost 1250RP (Bronze), 5000RP (Silver) and 10000RP (Gold). Additionally, we also offer the option to purchase Silver and Gold packs at a cost of $1.99 and $2.99 (USD)."

I think it's the "just under 1000 RP per Arena match" that irks him.
Basically means if you start at 0 RP it will take 11 matches to get 10,000 points for a gold pack instead of the 9-10 it would take if they just upped the reward a little so you always get at least 1000 for every Arena match you play.

Those are averages, not exacts. Some may earn less than 2k or 1k and others will earn more than those. It still balances out so that you're going to get about the same amount of awards per time spent playing either Warzone or Arena, on average.
And that's something they can tweak over time, as the playbase proves out those averages or they show that it's lopsided one way or the other. Lots of testing goes on for stuff like that, so those numbers aren't just random tiers they pulled out of a hat.
The difference between earn rate in Arena vs Warzone is entirely driven by time spent playing. In our estimation based on tests to date, Warzone matches last a little more than twice as long as Arena matches, on average. Of course if your team dominates and destroys the enemy core in the first 6 minutes (Warzone) or your opponent makes three quick flag caps to end the game in 2 minutes (Arena), that will limit your RP earnings for that match.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm guessing you get more RP at the end of a match if your team wins, but how big is that bonus? I know in other games it can feel like a waste of time when you keep losing matches because getting the win bonus is so imperative to earning points at a tolerable rate.

One question, are reqs the only way to get armor?
I officially have excused absences in all three of my classes on October 27. I'm gonna have to do a mid-term exam and a conference on Monday, but that's cool with me. :)

By SalientOne Go To PostNot sure what the exact bonus is but it's far from make or break. The main component is time.
Alright, good to know. I'm glad it's mainly based on match length since it totally sucked in Gears Ultimate Edition trying to level up to get the characters I wanted since you got basically nothing for XP at the end of matches unless you won them (the bonus was almost 1000 XP just for winning, while all the other aspects were worth a mere 100-300 XP.)
I take it Gold REQ Packs are the only way to unlock things like Buck's Helljumper armor, Tanaka's Technician armor, etc.? Those are my favorites so I am going to be saving my points and spending them exclusively on Gold packs so I can get them.
Yeah, I'm probably only gonna buy gold packs. I don't plan on playing a ton of Warzone, so I don't care much about the one-time-use weapons and stuff. I just want armor / helmets / visors.
Just realized a free req pack is inside the back of Last Light. Was wondering if I folded a page inadvertently and nope... Just a free req pack. Haha. 👌

Yo SalientOne, I own several of the Series 1 McFarlane Halo 5 figures and they each came with a code for a REQ pack. Will I be able to redeem each figure's unique code on my profile to get a REQ pack from each one, or will I only be able to use 1 per account?

Each one can be redeemed. They are all unique codes.
it's only the $24.99 Premium REQ pack pass that is 1 per account.
That's the one included in the LE/LCE/Console bundle, that gives you like 2 Premium packs a week for 7 weeks.

I hope so, but they are all codes for the same piece of add-on content on the store. I was wondering if it wouldn't let me enter any more past the first because it's all for the same kind of REQ pack, or if they set it up so you can redeem additional ones.
If it's only one per account, I will definitely give away the extras to you fine folks!

How did you purchase each one, separately?
So if for example I bought 10 individual packs instead of the premium pack, could they wall be opened at once? Or would I only be allowed to open two a week?

Each McFarlane figure comes with one. I have three.

The Warzone premium pack gives you 2 better-than-Gold-pack quality packs to open every week. They stagger them so you can't just pay $25 and open 14 packs that have huge chance for amazing stuff. It wouldn't be good for balance.
If you bought 10 Gold packs, you would be able to open them all at once.
Yes, you can purchase multiple packs and open them all. Only the REQ Bundle with the Premium packs doles them out over time with 2 per week over 7 weeks. Premium are the highest value packs, better than Gold. I love opening them because they always have such cool stuff inside. :)

Each figure has a unique code. Each code can be used at your leisure, or simultaneously. For example, if I were a crazy person and wanted to buy ten copies of Last Light, I'd have ten req pack codes to use lol.

Hmm, i suppose some of the REQ pack codes in other Halo merch may be 1 per acct as well (forgot they had guaranteed stuff like the Dauntless visor with the Master Chief controller).
Either that stuff is also One per acct, or successive codes from that item just wont include the [Dauntless visor/etc] since you've already perma-unlocked it (you'd just get the other random cards in the pack instead). Maybe Josh can clarify?

Why do you do this to me! Now I'm buying REQ packs...and I never buy extra shit in games. The thirst is real and stuff.
SalientOne, are there going to be win streak REQ point bonuses for multiple wins in a row?
Also off topic, I just purchased the limited edition (download) from Best Buy and on my receipt was the code for the game but I did not receive the pre-order bonus code for the Best Buy Armor/Weapon. I reached out to Best Buy for this and they directed me to Microsoft. Do you know anything about when the codes are going to be given out?
Thanks

Hmm. So I have the delux edition pre-ordered which will give me the 14 packs over 7 weeks. So if I understand correctly, I can only activate the second premium pack that I am now going to buy (lol) once that is finished right!? Shit the hunt for the best armor/helmets/weapon skins could be bad lol..
Do you have plans for selling premium packs individually ;-) ?
Welp 343 is going to take all my money, I've spent so much money on skins in CSGO and now onto H5! Oh well money well spent.

Sometimes teabagging isn't enough. Punching + having a teammate(s) teabag...now that's humiliation.
Hey Josh, random question: will we be able to press a button to switch vehicle seats in campaign as well as MP? Even while playing solo?
No plans for bonus packs for multiple win streaks at launch but we're looking at additional REQ reward mechanisms to bring online post-launch and this is something we'd consider. Keep in mind the commendations system has a huge number of different performance challenges to accomplish that tie to REQ packs and XP bonuses. We also have boost cards in the REQ system that offer single game challenges and multipliers for bonus rewards. We want to strike the right balance of providing long term incentives for players to work towards without feeling overly grindy. When in doubt as far as how often to reward players, we've erred on the side of generosity.
We want to see how things work w/ a massive audience before adding additional mechanics into the system. There is a ton of depth in there already (big props to Chris Blohm and the progression team for their work over the past three years - they've obsessed over making this system awesome for players).
We don't plan to allow purchase of Premium packs individually, only as part of the bundle.
