Battlefront is thin. I love me some Star Wars, but it's incredibly... meaningless, to play. Death means nothing. Kills mean nothing. You might as well be in a meat-grinder of AI for all the difference it makes.

I'm sure if you have two experienced teams and all the gear on both sides, it's a different game in many ways. But the core would still be the same, and that core does nothing for me, even as it looks and sounds terrific :(

If you're playing campaign solo, can you pick who you play as or does it default to Chief/Locke? And can you select between missions if the previous holds true or when you're with co-op teammates?

Cheif/Locke only in solo. Coop allows you to pick.

I just wanted to briefly apologize for derailing the topic the other day, especially to you Fahz if you're reading this.

I could've presented my argument in a more tactful way without sounding like a douche, preferably to add more smileys to show that I still love people even with differing opinions. But I've been trying to cut down my smiley usage. :/

it came off as holier-than-thou, or rather, more-knowledgeable-than-thou which wasn't my intention. I just wanted to present an argument with some sources without getting too in depth and it became dumb sounding and rude.

I understand Fahz has been having a stressful couple of weeks and I can only imagine what it feels like to go to a place where you can destress only to have your blood pressure to spike. I'm in a similar situation, and if any of yall got into a heated argument or discussion with me I'd be heartbroken and I'd not want to post anymore as well. Heck, that's why I stopped posting these last few days anyway, because I felt extremely guilty for that incident. But for the most part we are a really goofy and carefree community even with our differing opinions, and I'm truly sorry for even briefly causing a ruckus. I love y'all. :(

Is it something I'm going to be playing constantly, feeling competitive about? Not at all. But being able to jump into some of my favorite Star Wars moments and just run around going PEW PEW is all I really need from this. Plus it's a great "My First Shooter" for my 7-year old (though he is already pretty decent at Halo).

It is super casual and accessable. Chuck in the star wars name and theme and it will do well. Its not for me though.

I hate it to break it to you but the Battlefront beta isn't a beta. It's a demo, part of their marketing campaign. The game comes out in like a month, and if previous DICE "betas" are anything to go by, jack shit will change from the beta to the full game (for better or for worse).

Halo 5's beta was a real beta. It was released in late December 2014, a whole 10 months before the full game comes out.

Yeah, it's gonna be just Halo 5 and Fallout 4 for me this Fall. I'm a little dubious about FO4, though. I might wait for reviews / the first few patches.

I don't even know if I'm gunna get Halo 5 at launch anymore.

I have so little time in uni my hype levels have dropped dramatically. The lack of money is also an issue, I might give it a few months and wait for a price drop.

Game needs a damn dodge roll. What the hell.
Also, it's way more fun to play as the Rebels in Walker Assault now that I've played it a bit. There's more stuff to think about and you're required to actually do stuff, whereas playing as a Stormtrooper is just kill guys until you win by default

I did like walking in as vader and watching everyone run away after I hacked some dude.

But that just makes me want another Jedi Knight game more than anything

The more I see about REQ packs the more I can't wait to collect as much as I can. I'm feeling that ME3 vibe again... This is a good thing.

$2.99 for a Gold Pack is about where I thought it would be.

Also, it'd be really awesome if you could do REQ trading. After all, they basically admitted the whole REQ pack is inspired by MTG/Pokémon packs, and a fairly large aspect of that is trading (hence "Trading Card Game"). That would be pretty awesome, especially within a Company ;)

Anything cosmetic is free to use in arena. Anything that changes gameplay or weapon function is limited to Warzone.

A really damn good render. Wow.

Card trading seems like a pretty good way to monetize your content, but also great a market of frustration and annoyance. Direct sales cuts out a lot of the stuff I hate about Dota 2's scheme.

sigh. the more i find out about the rec system the more im turned off. but im probably an outlier. iv strongly disliked random rewards/trading card games in general for most of my life.

I THINK I GOT ACCEPTED TO THE "RAINBOW 6 SIEGE BETA"

We will see tho. I might see yall on Saturday night. But unfortunately I have a LAN party for MCC Saturday night (does it even work?) so I might only be able to play the superior game (Rainbow 6) for only a few hours.

There's nothing wrong with disliking it, at the end of the day it's just a different way of delivering the same armor/item unlocks we've had in Halo for the past few games now.

I definitely prefer it to the older systems though. If I really like an armor, but it's not unlocked till rank 400 bazillion, it puts me off from trying to get it. You aren't guaranteed anything in this new system except for 1-2 permanent unlocks per pack (depending on what tier you're opening), but at the very least you know that with each permanent unlock you remove one from the pool and make it just a little more likely you will get what you want from your next pack.

It does in Warzone from the footage we've seen, I woudl assume the same is true for arena.

I'm really torn on what armor I want to use in Halo 5. Quite a few of them are really nice.

Some good things to know from the new 'Building your REQ collection Part 2' post:

- "When you first launch the game, you’ll receive a starting REQ bundle that includes 54 REQ cards, as well as 7500 REQ Points."

- "Spartan Rank is a measure of the time you’ve spent within multiplayer. Every game you complete in multiplayer will earn XP towards levelling your Spartan Rank. The better you play, the more XP you’ll receive, helping you level up faster. Every time you level up your Spartan Rank, you get a REQ Pack as a reward."

- "So, to obtain these packs with in-game currency will cost 1250RP (Bronze), 5000RP (Silver) and 10000RP (Gold). Additionally, we also offer the option to purchase Silver and Gold packs at a cost of $1.99 and $2.99 (USD)."

- "We expect players to earn on average 2000RP for a game of Warzone, and just under 1000RP for a game of Arena."

I hope we get all the past helmets eventually.

So there are certain items in each pack that we get to "keep" such as skins and armor, instead of just being a one-time-deal sort of thing? Those can be used at any time.

Then there are items good for one time use in Warzone (only?) that will disappear after activated?
