Does anyone know how long Halo 4 took to beat "on average". For me, it took 6 hours on legendary. I'm hoping Halo 5 will be longer than that, 8-12 hours on normal doesn't tell me anything.

It took me about 6 hours during my midnight launch run on Normal, but on my Legendary playthrough it also took a little under six hours. I'm assuming H5G is structured somewhat like H4 (in a good way, mind you) in that it's possible to cheese a lot of encounters to get through missions faster, like with Reclaimer - but they can also take considerably longer if you're exploring every nook and cranny and going through all of the engagements normally. I'd assume a cheesing run on Normal is 8 hours while a full exploration per level ramps it up to 12.
Definitely took longer than 6 hrs for Halo 4 legendary solo. I also take my time and kill everything and look at everything haha.
Evidence regarding cheesing strats: even if you don't use any exploits like the Banshee "under-the-radar" trick to get to the top of the tower early in the open Banshee / generator fight on Forerunner, I did that "complete Forerunner on Heroic without picking up a weapon" achievement solo and I didn't actually kill anything other than the mandatory Knight in the beginning. It took maybe 15 minutes.
I'm the master of abusing AI and using cheese tactics. That is the correct way to play Halo campaigns.
Congrats 343!! Now the hardest part of the wait begins. Just knowing it's complete and we can't play it for 3 more weeks is gonna be so hard.

That's what I do on legendary haha. My first playthrough is to play it as intended and to explore as much as I can.

By FUNKNOWN iXi Go To PostYou choose not to get it.That's not what I'm saying, though. I'm not "choosing not to get it," I don't understand the concept of trusting in a company to deliver on their promises when their track record indicates otherwise.
Campaign with 4p co-op
Arena multiplayer
Warzone
Custom Games
Those 4 things alone have more content and allow for high time investment than most games on the market, so let's not act crazy and say things like "I just don't get it" when you do, but choose not to accept it.
Master Chief Collection still doesn't work properly after nearly a year, so I don't understand why people are willing to trust that they'll deliver on any of this, let alone things that won't ship until launch. There's a lot of the same red flags from last time around:
- 343 light on details until right before launch, ultimately reveals things are missing.
- Major features missing at launch, but promised to be delivered shortly after.
- Game goes gold prior to being feature-complete.
- Full multiplayer not finished in time for disc pressing, needs to be downloaded separately.
- Confusion and contradiction during hype stage, such as the whole campaign matchmaking thing.
- Dodging of inconvenient questions like the concerns about region selection, something which has become accepted as standard in other dedicated server games.
I'm not saying I don't understand being excited for the game - I love Halo too. If it weren't for Master Chief Collection, I'd be picking up Halo 5.
What I don't understand is having faith in and supporting a company with the track record and disrespect for customers and fans that 343 has.
Ugh, I'm in full Halo hype mode. I cannot fucking waaaaaait. Gonna smash through campaign in one sitting, sleep and then start grinding out REQs. We should assemble a 12 man Warzone squad to wreck plebs haha.

I can't wait to get into Warzone. Stoked.
But campaign comes first. Always first.
So, in S3E1 of The Sprint, you get a brief glimpse at Kazuma Jinnouchi's DAW and he shows off a few melodies - while it's a pretty straightforward interpretation, I wrote up the notes in Mixcraft 7 and set it to one of my general choir presets at an approximate tempo:
boop
It's just the beginning to one of the main menu tracks, but I thought it was cool that the notes they showed were actually orchestrated later in the same episode and they hadn't just pulled an arbitrary track or anything.

By dwells Go To PostThat's not what I'm saying, though. The features that were not up to par in previous titles didn't affect or upset the people that are excited for Halo 5 as much as you think.

We know the game is working. We all played the Beta.
Not everyone sees everything the same. Your bullet points on "the state of Halo 5" are almost completely alien to me.
The simple solution is if you don't like how Halo 5 is launching, wait until it's content complete, then buy the game.

You do realize that these are all related, and have nothing to do with fiendish plots to steal money from consumers, right?
What features are going to be included, what's going to be on-disc, timeframes for releasing content after release—those are all in flux. If they say Forge is coming in December four months ago, and they miss that release date because of unforeseen development times, then they get crucified. Games going "gold" has been increasingly decoupled from the reality of game-making, and yeah having to have a build finished to go on the disc months before release due to the realities of physical distribution is a limit. 343 could instead decide to cut more features and not include them in a patch for your "feature complete" disc... and then they would get crucified.
This is why I don't get the "lack of transparency!" screams from fans. It's been proven time and time again the vast majority of people will freak out like petulant children and cannot understand the realities of development, despite plenty of postmortems, videos like the Sprint, etc.

Mr. SalientOne,
On the infographic it states that there are 15 missions that take about 8-12 hours to beat on normal. What would be your best guess on how long it will take a four player coop team on legendary (our skill levels are on the above average side)?
which gametypes are in at launch? DM, CTF, ???, ???
gotta be honest, it's gonna be weird having a halo game at launch with no zombies, oddball, territories, VIP, assault, etc. lol

Somehow Rag will look at this and twist it in his mind to where he thinks it's actually the enthusiastic/optimistic people that are making developers not want to come in here and share info.
Has it been confirmed if the 21 launch maps include the Forge maps (Peagsus, Orion and the Breakout maps)? Or 21 maps + Forge maps?

I know you'll never want/be able to say, but I gotta wonder what happens at 343 when you guys read some of this stuff ;)
Criticism is fine, I just get the feeling Rag enjoys it a little too much :D
Edit: As for the gametypes, this is more an issue of omission than commission. Everyone's worked themselves up into a frenzy about them because we've not heard anything about them. That does not necessarily mean they're not in. We shall see. Why waste your energy until we know? If there's only Slayer, Strongholds and CTF (I sincerely doubt, based on every previous Halo) then go fucking nuts.
The thing that irks me about gaming communities is the amount of cynical savants that hover around them. They predict the worst, ignore the good stuff, and when anything negative happens they claim they were proven right.

I'm buying the standard disc ay my local Gamestop the night of launch, no pre-order. I am very pleased with the reveal of Forge, and understand if it is that good, then letting them have untill the end of December 2015 is reasonable. I am going into this with my eyes open, being one of many who got burned before, but I decided to give 343 another chance, and put skin in the game so I have a legitimate dog in this fight.
So, SalientOne, please, a moment of your time.
If you can, please answer me this.
I know from the beta there will be a proper, nicely functioning after-match lobby. Will custom games return to being joinable in progress? Please, this is important to me and many others.

Seriously Rag, do you enjoy anything? I'm all for people being devil's advocate but at this point it feels like you're here to just piss into everyone's glass of water.
I've definitely put in time and effort into games (e.g. Destiny) where the experience was frustrating and challenging and not optimal, but I still found ways to contribute positively (literally) to the discussion. Yes, I still play Destiny to this day, and no, it's not a terrible game, but if something like Halo is really so terrible, then just stop.

Nope, not true at all.
You can forge while being in offline mode, that was my first questions when we were told about forge being run on dedicated servers;)- http://www.forgehub.com/threads/halo-5-forge-discussion-with-cartographers.149220/page-5#post-1613803
People really should cite sources before spreading misinformation. And really, does it matter? What are you going to do in forge alone? Once you build a map you don't just sit in it. You play it with others which requires Xbox Live Gold.

He's replying to questions asking what will be restricted if there is no connection to live. He specifically answers that multiplayer will not work if there is no live... As all MP, even custom games, are on dedi's. Building a map shouldn't be an issue… But playing on a map with others is where the restrictions will kick in.
Actually, now I'm not so sure.
But... It's a MP heavy game. Not surprising that it would require Xbox Live, given the cloud and dedicated servers that Halo 5 is built around.
