Yeah, I would MUCH rather have had a Battlefield-esque Halo PvP mode than Warzone, but Warzone does look fun.

Trying to pray before a combat drop, we have things to do Tanaka! But really I don't hate Locke, we know little about the characters.
By IronWarrior Go To PostThat's more or less how I feel so far. I'm gonna give it a shot for sure, but whenever I watch the videos I never get a feeling that it's a team working towards a clear objective…more like "run around everywhere shooting everything that moves," with the objectives being sort of just there. Even Slayer BTB had a distinct feeling of your team moving around the map and controlling certain areas.
I'd warrant that's because the videos you've seen have been at press events full of strangers playing with each other. It's fairly obvious what to do, I reckon there'll easily be plenty of scope for team play. It's 12-a-side with myriad objectives, all it needs is practise and a good leader.

I may have read that insanely long blog post wrong on waypoint, but didn't they say spawning on one teammate would be possible in Warzone? Because then Josh Holmes/Quinn/whoever reiterated, ARENA SPAWNING WILL STAY THE SAME BUT IMPROVED.
Um, why aren't we welcoming Kaizen Gamer to HaloENT. I swear i'll leave this place and never look back!

Maybe it'll be a late-implementation? I mean Invasion even implemented it, so surely they can't be that daft that they don't include it.

It still annoys me that they use the same date system as now.
Like, what the hell is October 27th gunna mean to a guy on Reach?

And you've seen how well america has adopted the metric system, probably still take another thousand years to adopt the star-date system.... and then you have to worry about space y2k.
"In addition to spawning on placed spawn points players can spawn on out-of-combat teammates anywhere in a capturable Base’s spawn zone."
from the blog post. Sounds alright to me, it'd be nice if it was ANYWHERE on the map but yeah.
EDIT: more info As Warzone features maps 4-5 times the size of previous Halo maps, we quickly realized our traditional fixed-point spawn system wouldn't cut it. To solve that problem, we built a system that generates new dynamic spawn locations at the exact moment a player spawns. Using a hybrid of fixed locations and dynamic spawn points offers an improved selection of locations in any circumstance. Combining our battle-tested arena spawning system and hybrid spawn points gave us the brand new 'Bro Spawning' you'll see uniquely when you play Warzone.
Bro spawning works initially on the macro level. The first stage is to find groups of players using clustering analysis to understand who is working together as a team. Each set of players is then evaluated to determine if it's suitable to for a player to join by looking at a number of factors: confidence level in group directional heading, number of players in the cluster, combat status and enemy player presence. Once compatible clusters have been identified it becomes possible to start generating spawn locations dynamically around that group.

imagine arena 12 v 12 with weapons/vehicles on map, br starts and no loadouts, armor mods or rek card system. (they could easily re purpose warzone maps for this.)

You're just spawning at a captured base. You don't pick a specific person or spawn on a teammate that 's currently sneaking around to the other side of the map.

but it sounds like you can spawn on your teammates if they're not actively fighting even if the base isn't captured. As I said, not ideal, but it's something. I guess they were worried about balance

I personally think the game will end on a cliffhanger of MC possibly being dead, and we'll have to wait until 2018 to find out. Lucky us.

Some people have justified concerns, but at the same time it's pretty easy to tell when certain folk just can't relate(tm). A good analogy is the Didact leading up to Halo 4's release: we know the dude exists, we know he belongs to one of the big players of the universe, and we've gotten glimpses of him through supplementary content leading up to the game. Halo 4-era Didact hate didn't really start up until H4 actually came out, though - same thing with Palmer hate. Gaming-side's really loved showing their ass with H5G, though. I distinctly recall someone saying Fireteam Osiris' diversity felt "forced." Like, what?

that, but 8v8 on smaller maps purposefully decided for that player count

Pretty sure you are wrong. I heard a rumor it ends with Locke and Chief making out together through their helmets. The music cuts out and you just hear visceral helmet smacking and their under armor crinkling.
Helmet on Helmet action BB
By kittens Go To PostI find Locke to be pretty stale so far,
My biggest issues so far with the trailers / footage so far has really been the campaign voice acting from Locke and the rest of the team members. Just seems so 'im reading this from a script in a studio' and really kills any dramatic tension in the scene. I mean at least seem like you are out of breath or have some stress in your voice.
I like Tanaka's armor. I'll definitely use it if I get it out of a REQ pack, it really has this engineer look to it and I like that.
Also, one thing I noticed in Greenskull's video where he shows the name of every armor in the game:
There's a visor named Legendary. Halo 4 had a visor named Legendary and it was a sort of orangey golden color. I think the Legendary visor will be a reward for beating the campaign on Legendary difficulty.

i appreciate arena but all the maps seem very small especially with sprint and all the movement abilities. we need those mid-large arena maps/btb imo.
I kinda missed some of the less balanced, larger 4v4 maps (that also worked for 8v8). Stuff like Last Resort and High Ground. The tight arena maps we've seen so far are great but they're more in the vein of Lockout/Guardian/Uncaged.

I'd say that's fair, especially since I think 343 has said that for the press events the req system is sped up to allow people to get all the weapons. I just hope it doesn't devolve into everyone randomly running off to do their own objective rather than the fun power struggles of defense vs offense.
Are there screen grabs of all the controller schemes? I bounced around during the Beta trying to get the best fit with scope back on R3 instead of LT.

By Wahrer Go To PostInteresting how people hate locke but don't seem to have a problem with his FireteamPersonally I don't hate Locke, I just don't care much about him right now. I don't see much appealing about him as far as a character. I see potential sure as a foil to the chief could be interesting but I feel they've made him too similar without having enough of his own defining qualities to make him stand out.
Fascinating, even
"Dude you don't get it I just really like Chief and hates anyone who opposes him!"
"Oh man I can't wait to play as the Arbiter again!"
It could be that he just needs more character development, but he's had far more marketing than anyone else on his team so we have a better idea of his character. Plus there's the potential to replace Chief that people were and to a degree still are worried about which probably doesn't help since people like Chief. I don't think I've ever seen someone complain about him being an opposition. Though I don't spend much time on gaming side.
Meanwhile his team is comprised of Space Nathan Fillion, a rad red ninja who speaks alien, and a badass tank girl who would rather go THROUGH the opposition instead of around it. There's not been much to get upset about with them so it makes sense nobody would be.

While this certainly, and sadly, rings true about a lot of mediums throughout the years, it's probably safe to say Locke isn't there just to he killed off. Also, I honestly can see someone from Blue Team biting a bullet before anyone from Osiris does.
I'd rather all 8 still be alive at the end of Halo 5 though.

I'm not a betting man (usually), but I'd wager that Locke is most certainly not meant to just be killed off.
I find it surprising when people bring up diversity issues in regards to Halo though. It's had one of the most diverse casts in video games and the black guy didn't die first holy shit amirite hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaabut really rip in peace.
Tokenism is stupid but adding NEW characters that are diverse is most definitely not that.

Two things
1. I think that osiris' drop should have been started with someone giving the Roadblovk and Duke speech from GI Joe 2.
2. I want the armor from Halo Online to be in Halo 5
I love when Halo Orbit does stuff like that. They did it for the reach helmets and the Halo 4 helmets.
